keep it clean
On Friday I went off to hang out with Karen and bebbeh and co. I dropped off a few things at the ol' Quilcene USPS. Thea and Roldan were at Karen's. We had a nice sit around and baby talk and regular talk. We five plus Rob went for a walk around the block. Absolutely beautiful view of Mt Rainier and we could even see Seattle from up on high. I drew my comic. Didn't hold Lily this time, but next time I will probably. Made a Trader Joe's run on the way home. Tried out the dill pickle popcorn. Won't buy another bag.
Helped Celia in the evening then went to bed late and slept in late.
I scrubbed the sinks and toilets. Swept the kitchen. I hung my black, red, and white mod bolt of fabric in the library. It covers three of the four existing drapes. I just clipped it up along with those. It's a nice bold flair. And I switched out the table cloth on the circle table, and some of the fabric draped on chairs. Actually. I wonder if I should get more drape clips and put the mod cloth up in the master bedroom as a drape. The ones here don't cover the whole thing, but the red and white isn't opaque and I don't want to cut it just yet. Hmmm.
Bursts of cleaning productivity. I also put away a bunch of clothes and made my bed nice and proper with a few less blankets. Want to be one of those people with a more organized house. I want access to all the drawers in my desk. And I want to pull the rest of the books from the blue shelf, but I need boxes to put them in.
Anyway. Clearing house.

the only ship I'm on is the friendship
Yesterday was exhausting! Bonus hour shift. Turned three rooms, including the top two ones which are extra tiring because of the stairs. Lots of stuff to bring up and down stairs. And I did some laundry. And had a second cuppa coffee. But I was still wiped when I got home and took a nap. Then drew a comic. Helped Celia. Got tired again and slept in.
Ma and Pa came over for a second to plant some things. There was a noise in the woods that I thought was an alarm, but Mom whipped out her bird app and played some bird calls and declared it a pigmy owl. And they identified the birds on my log as corms.
I did some laundry and dishes. Drew a few things I can't post just now. Yawn. Sleepy. Night.
Ohh! My friend Madeline's brother Jackson is doing a GoFundMe for this dance program. I kicked in a little, as should you! Hopefully you can kick in more than me though. He's a great kid, though now I guess he's all grown and stuff. I just remember going out for froyo with him and we both put our unused napkins away in our back pockets at the same time and in the same way. He always remembers me, even if it's been years between crossing paths! Anyway, hope he gets all the moolahs.

mmm chocolate
The chocolate was pretty good, though in retrospect maybe something had happened to it, and that's why it was left behind. But if it had been fouled, wouldn't it be in the trash? Anyway. Work was good! Turned three rooms, though I didn't make the beds or do the linens, Raechel did it. Without having to do the beds, it's really just cleaning the bathroom and putting stuff back. Did a fluff too. I think I'm managing to make fewer trips up and down. Doing better about making sure I have everything on hand. I did some windows too, and was shown by Raechel how to do the laundry. Just a preliminary, and I was debriefed on towel folding. I worked one hour longer than I usually do, and I have work tomorrow too. Two nice long shifts! Though not extremely long.
Went to Seabeck for a real quick scarf down dinner. Picked up my mail, got two cool things! And two not so cool things. Have a tax remnant to do.
Then it was bee class! So tired by this point in the day. Learned about swarming. Then sat in on a bee association meeting, which was held in the church hall meeting area instead of Stedman's. It just went over some meeting stuff. Then it was finished. Filled up my tank, went home, well got Celia's mail then went home. Swung by Celia's. Scanned the comic I drew during bee class. Now I'm ready to crawl into bed. Nighty night.

girl power
The past 48 hours have been exhausting! Work had me turning two rooms and doing the usual downstairs sweep and vacuum. There was more scheduled but the howling weather prevented me from doing it (outdoors stuff). I was tired from the time shift too. But not as tired as I was expecting to be.
Wind bustled me on the drive home. I went slow and steady and all was good, till the turn off 101. Then branches were down. I stopped to pull some out of the way. I did not pull the downed powerline out of the way. I just verrrrry carefffuuullly drove around it. And it took nearly 25 minutes just to get down my driveway. Lots of stopping to haul multiple branches out of the way to free up the road. And I still had to pull a few from my undercarriage when I was done. The road was covered. And the power was of course out, and obviously would be for a while. I got a fire going, had the one beer remaining in my fridge, snacked and settled in. I went to bed early hopeful that the power would come on at 4am and wake me, but no such luck.
At 9ish I brought the generator down from the garage and got it going on the second pull. See comic:
Now you've seen the comic. I sat outside for a bit and charged my phone (after plugging in my fridge). This is the first time I've bothered with the generator. I'm generally fine with allowing my fridge to warm up a little bit. So I got it going, got the fridge chilling, I did unplug it to make rice to make my "deconstructed sushi" snack (rice plopped in seaweed snacks, a carb loaded filler meal) then I plugged it back in. I made another fire and went through I think four loads of wood, maybe three. I walked (with Corbie) up the road, clearing more branches. Higher up it was pretty good, but there was a lot still to pick up and toss to the side. Power chugged back on at around 3 in the afternoon. 23 hours!!
I had to turn off the septic alarm, but there were not many lights left on. I had pasta for dinner, relaxed, helped Celia, drew a comic. I did one by the lantern light last night, but obviously I could not scan it.
So now I'm going to go to sleep. Tomorrow is a long day. I got a 10-4 work shift and then I haul over to Silverdale for Bee Class 6-8. I'm not going to be able to get a hive going this summer. It's too much financial commitment for me right now. BUT I can learn and can get space ready and learn more, and the class tuition covered membership in the bee society so I can go to their meetings. And maybe I can help someone with their bees and learn that way? Anyhoo. Yeah. It's too much for me to do right now. But that's okay. I'm glad I took the class as a primer.
Mom & Dad, will you be home 5:15ish? Maybe I stop by real quick and get my mail before class? Text me.

out in the woods
In all the hubbub and excitement of yesterday, I forgot to write I helped a guy jump his Winnebago! He flagged me down at the Bee Mill turn, and since the Cove was right there I figured he wasn't going to murder me (might be a camera, murderers tend to go for more isolated spots) so I helped him out. As I was pulling the backing away from the battery, he told me to be gentle with the lining. I was, but I also am not too in need of the car to be in mint condition. Later Celia mentioned that jumping a vehicle of a majorly different size might not have been good for my engine or something. Err. Well the car continues to run so...yeah? It took a few turns of his key but his car got running again.
Friday I chilled at home. I scrubbed the kitchen floor with Lysol. Yup, the job is taking over. I did laundry. I DID MY TAXES!! So now I wait for the return to get routed straight into my account. Hopefully. I wonder how long that'll take. Hopefully not too long, though my paychecks have started coming in. Looking forward to being solvent again.
Watched telly with Celia in the evening, then slept in. Also has biscuits and gravy. Not as good as I was hoping, but I also used packet gravy and can biscuits. Ate half the supply on Friday and the other half today. Erin stopped by for a bit to say hello. Met Allison, Celia's friend. Went to Dungeons and Dragons. We had a big battle with many enemies. I took a few hits. Got a few good wallops in with my mace. Did a lot of healing. I confused my AC with my health for a hot second, but didn't accidentally declare myself dead. Now I must sleep. Work tomorrow and I think I'm about to lose an hour to daylight savings. Uhg.
