pho, blisters, and comics

Whoo! Seattle trip today! Set the alarm and got up and everything. Dad made hash browns, bacon, and fried egg. I didn't fancy the egg much but the hash browns and bacon sure were good!

I put on some layers and put on moms big hiking boots, which turned out to have clogging clackers on the bottom. Noisy shoes, but quite the fashionable statement piece. Unfortunately they wore blisters into my feet and half way through the day I had to buy a new set of shoes, but I'll get to that later.

Mom read the schedule wrong so instead of catching the 1:45 ferry, we caught the 2:05 to Seattle from Bainbridge. Dad played with his Kindle.

Ma and Pa dropped me off at Stumptown Coffee, up on Capital Hill. Chris was there waiting. Hurray! They went off to Linda's retirement party and we went to get some delicious pho soup. Mmm beef! I should have asked for extra meat. I treated Chris to some cupcakes at the fancy cupcake place. Delicious. There was a kids party going on. Like first graders. So loud.

We wandered in a park for a while. Played in the play ground. Sat on bench. Chatted. It was nice. I haven't seen Chris in about a year. We hit up Value Village next. My feet were killing me. That little place in the Achilles. Had to get something quick. Found a pair of used velcro Vans for five bucks. Perfect! And I could walk on the heel so that my forming blister wouldn't get further aggravated.

Chris showed me around the Seattle University campus. It actually has a lawn! And more than two buildings! It is quite nice. Ma and Pa were a long time in coming back from the party, but eventually they showed up and I parted ways with my dear friend.

Uwajimaya was the next destination. Ma and Pa got groceries and I picked up some comics. Nothing I as familiar with, just some volumes with art that interested me. "Read" one on the way back. I looked up the synopsis when I got home, and I much prefer the idea of the comic that I got from just looking at the pictures.

Mom had stopped by Hot Pot...Drop Pot...Drop Hot...uhmm. This doughnut place and picked up half a dozen delicious pastries. I like the jelly one best thus far.

Ma, Nate and I got in the hot tub for a bit. Nate visited one of his friends today.

Tomorrow is actual Father's Day. Yay! Now remember: when mom tries to tell you about her day, act surprised. Don't let on that you know it already through reading my blog.

out and about, by myself!

Mom got distracted and forgot about the broiling poached eggs on toast with melted cheese, so the muffin burned and the cheese was inedible. The egg was still edible, so I had that. Watched some A Team. All five seasons of it are on Hulu.com.

Listened to a Police album and finished up one side of my quilt! Now with all the white borders, it doesn't look all that impressive. Just two floating rectangles. Well, it is an experiment of technique. I cut the fabric for the other side and cut the filler stuff. Mom made sandwiches for lunch.

I decided to go into town and mom stayed behind and gardened. I don't think I have driven in a year, but it all came back to me. Went to Target to get a wedding present for Harmony and Peter, and some Cheerios and pudding mix and some nail polish. Whee! Swung by Goodwill and dropped off some things for mom.

It was a beautiful day. Listened to a CD and drove at the speed limit. Very nice.

Got home in time for early dinner. I forget what I did between 6:30 and 7:30. Ate food. Watched the new episode of Work of Art. Don't know how I feel about it. Sure some of the artists didn't use the stuff as much as they could have, but what does it matter if they did a piece true to them? Still some of the photographers stepped out of their comfort zone.

Nate is home for the weekend. We watched Community. Gotta get Nate into that now.

And daddy came home from Texas! We fed him curry and let him open two of his father's day presents early. He got an Amazon Kindle and a Kindle case from Nathan. Spoiled little Joey Jr. And he has more left to open.

Tomorrow we are going to Seattle. I'll hang with Chris while parents go to Linda's retirement party.

Murdock!!

The weather has gone bad again! Boo!

Set my alarm so I could get back on track with a good sleeping pattern.

Ma and I went into town for some errands. I made a mix CD for us to listen to. Mostly Hot Chip and Kaiser Chiefs. Anyway, we stopped by the recycling center and tossed some boxes. Target presented us with cheap Propel powder and lots of plastic bins for moms never ending quest to store everything. Swung by a couple stores to get father's day gifts. Won't say which poppa they were for though. We ate a large meal at the Mongolian Grill. Pick your own food and they steam it, and so on.

Sufficiently stuffed, we went to the theater to see if a showing of the A Team was coming soon. It was so we went to see it. For me the man draw was District 9's Sharlto Copley. Talented guy. Not that Bradley Cooper or Liam Neeson are not also draws. The movie was really loud is some parts. Mom and I were in the back row but we still plugged our ears. The sound mixer should be fired. There were some fun plans and schemes to the story and it has some good humor. I'm not familiar with the original show. Glad there was more Copley in it than the trailers led on. He played a good looney.

We went home, unpacked, watched a few more episodes of Community and then watched So You Think You Can Dance. We were not pleased Alexi went home. I just don't get what is so special about that tapper. More Community. Now sleep. I'm feeling pretty tired and it isn't even 1am!

the end of boredom is imminent

Yay, now mom is home for the rest of the week and dad is coming home. Company!

I slept way in till 1. Dang. Cheerios for me. Whee.

Watched the Hot Chip video for I Feel Better a bunch of times. I can't imbed it, so here is a link, it is really odd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaCZN2N6Q_I

When Ma came home, she made a delicious apple, chicken, cucumber salad. Yum! It had so much flavor. I have no imagination for salads, when really all you have to do is toss things in.

Then So You Think You Can Dance! The male dancers are very strong this season. Kent is still my favorite. Robert and Alex are also up there. The ladies are good but I can't quite remember them. During the commercials I watched the season finale of Luther. Mom got into it as well, even though I had to explain all the plot that lead up to the finale. It is nice when mom likes some of the more dramatic things I like.

Then we watched a few more episodes of Community. So good.

Tomorrow we can sew and run errands and all that! Wheee!

ho hum

Another long day with no mother and lots of television. I've taken a break from reading The Walking Dead. Just so much comic.

Ma and I are talking about going to the salon or doing other girly things together. Seems like other mother daughters do this sort of behavior, why not us?

We watched a few more episodes of Community.

My back hurts. Bad posture.

I feel tired but I know if I try to go to sleep, I'll just lay restless for at least an hour. I've never had a lot of luck sleeping. Even when I'm exhausted, it still takes me a while. I can't shut my brain off. Its probably the lack of exercise and over sleeping, but that doesn't account for the days when I spend all day in the print lab and stay up writing a paper or whatever. Hmmn.

Oh and I trimmed my bangs today. Nothing major, just a little bit of evening out.

blah

When moms away and dads away, it isn't fun. Just me and my computer. Bleh. Watched an episode of Luther. Read lots of The Walking Dead. Petted Holly.

When mum came home, she made me a sandwich. Good mum! We watched Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. It was actually fairly cute and had some good moments. I agree with mom though that it didn't need the bit with the gum.

Going to have dinner with Kristen and her family Thursday or Friday. Get this lease thing hashed out.

Sometimes I become quite painfully aware of the experiences of late March and early April, and the anguish that they caused me. It is this powerful emotion that scares me because I don't know what it is. I am stronger than I ever thought myself to be, but I am still human.

sound of music, so much sound of music

Mom says that whenever she tries to tell people about things she has done, people say they have already learned about it through Facebook or my blog. So next time, pretend like you don't know already.

Today mom, mom's friend Cathy, and I went to see Sound of Music at the Forest Theater. I've never seen a production of it, or watched the movie for that matter. So besides the overly familiar songs, it was pretty new for me.

We had a ton of snacks and the theater packed people in tight. It is open air with steps seating. Hard on the bum and back, but worth it. It was a nice minimal stage production. Just good singing, lots of costumes, and bright sun.

The parking lot was packed, but thanks to Cathy encouraging and helping some people maneuver, we got our little section moving. Car by car left and we were able to make our way to freedom! Whooo!

I chilled out at home. Ma and I watched Bubble Boy. Still so funny and charming. Then we stayed up late watching Sound of Music. I was getting tired and it went on for so very long. It was interesting to observe the changes of the story from the two versions.

Mom works and clogs tomorrow. Guess it will be a television and sleeping day. Or maybe sun lounging with a book.
