drawing day

Spent a good part of the good sunshine of the day indoors working on portraits. Want to get ahead so that when my teeth come out, I don't have to worry about doing portraits. Right now I am covered up till the 8th. Want to be good till the 15th or so. I've returned to pencil and pen and the portraits actually reflect a certain increase in skill that is to be expected at the 215 portrait count. Eyes are still tricky.

Read a bit in the sun. Mom made delicious soup. So You Think You Can Dance was excellent. Did a few more portraits later on. Authors are good portrait subjects because they'll often have useful pictures to use for reference.

I'm really wasting these days though. Not meeting any sort of goal. Still haven't finished that quilt. Damn you Internet, why are you so entertaining!

reading still rules

Daaang Dance with Dragons is getting so damn good. Couldn't stop reading it...until I got to a Cersei point of view chapter. Then I was like, whatever. Didn't haul books. My ankle is feeling marginally better. Didn't quit.

James Nesbitt's performance in Jekyll is so crazy insane. Very weird show.

Dinner was salmon, potatoes, and corn. It was very delicious.

I really need to draw more. And get on with stuff.

reading rules

This is my 1,601st post. So many.

It was a nice great fantastic day. I helped mom haul down some chairs. We are opening up space here and there. Three of my four shelves are now in the upstairs general area, as well as a desk set up. I need to paint the desk because it has old stuff drawn on it. Now I can move my books back to their proper spot: on display. Two months and my stuff is still mostly in boxes. But books are a start. Then clothes. So much stuff cycling in and out.

I spent a lot of the day reading. Dance with Dragons got to a pretty awesome bit and I just couldn't stop reading. Lounged in the sun, still didn't burn. Dad and mom read as well.

My ankle has been hurting me majorly. Don't know how I messed it up.

oh crud, it is August now

Annnnd the weather turned just as soon as we got one nice day. Ma and Pa went off to Whaling Days. I tooted around on the Internet and then spent a large portion of the day in the Girl Cave finishing the quilt front. I got all the squares assembled and sewn together. It isn't the neatest quilt with the greatest of points. In fact a lot of the points are mucky. It looks nice assembled though. It looks hand made. I'm working on the border now. Just have to get fabric for the back and for the edge and the batting and then stick it together and then BOOM done. They come together so fast. It is six by seven squares. A big quilt. Its scale sort of makes up for its less than ideal execution. I call it charming.

Anyhoo, didn't do any reading. I don't want to power through the book any way, that is no fun. That isn't really reading, that is just reading words. I'm a slow reader because I take time to think. Or I think too much.

I spend so many days doing nothing when there is so much that I need to do. It is August now, where the hell has summer gone? I guess it is just two months out of Portland, but it feels much longer. And I guess two months is a long time to still have things in boxes.
