uno mas?

Downton Abbey is playing on the external monitor. Ma has twice said "one more episode?" How can I deny her? It is a darn good season.

Slept in. Had some tea and oatmeal. Felt a bit odd all day. Need more veggies. Had rice and seaweed for lunch. Dinner was chicken and green bean casserole. Watched Russian Sherlock Holmes. Laid back day. Worked on a list of things to achieve and things to pack. Talked to Beth a bit.

Downton Abbey is a darn good show. Love the second season. It is quite the good one.

AHh without the portrait project, I haven't drawn in a day or so. Tomorrow is the new Sherlock episode!

time with ma

Got up at around noonish. Had some cheerios and tea. Brought my laptop down, because now I am no longer tethered to the monitor, nor am I restricted by the lack of charge my laptop battery holds. Whoo! At 2:30ish, Mom and I ran some errands and listened to Cabin Pressure. Went into Silverdale and got hot tub salt. Got some prescriptions filled in Poulsbo and then ate some crepe. Got some food at Trader Joe's and then back home! Soaked in the hot tub. I had some rice and seaweed for a late dinner.

Oh and got my piece for the magazine signed off as all done, so hurray! My first real artist job and it turned out awesome! Whooo! Can't wait to see it in print now.

Hmmm. Time to get cracking with deciding what to do next.

bring on the blue

Went to bed quite late, or rather early, and got up at my usual time, however begrudgingly. Slowly got up to speed at around 4pm, and worked on till 8ish, when I finished my piece for the magazine. I can't tell if I like it or not though. It seems a bit messy, but thats also because I'm looking at it in super big resolution. AHh. Yeah.

Had some toast and nutella for breakfast. And tea. Had some pasta and salad for dinner. Mmm vegetables. Now I have some more tea, but sleepy time tea. I think I'll try getting to bed at a decenter hour. Next week: time to make a game plan for the Bay Area. Ohheee!!

Oh, I also transferred everything over to my new computer. Right now I have a kickin' dual monitor set up, with whatever I plan to watch (right now: Sherlock) on the big screen and this screen for Facebook and Reddit and Blogger and whatever else. It is pretty awesome. I adjusted the settings on the big monitor a bit, because I noticed it was dim and yellowish compared to this screen. Huzzah!

Sad to put aside my old computer, though I'll keep it around. It still works and could serve a role of backup computer/stay at home/dvd player. I could have it run tasks so that it isn't all happening on this computer. Of course I'll have to get an external monitor, but I think Nate was planning on getting a new one anyway. Hmmn.

Okay, time to relax!

goodbye Heart of Gold, hello Bistromath

My new computer arrived! A little blue HP, not quite as pretty as my silver and white Dell, but considerably more powerful, with more space and youth to its hardware. Gots to replace computers before they implode and you lose everything. Not that I was in danger of that, just wanted to avoid that situation. Plus my old laptop's screen is black. Plus I'll be moving, so new start needs some new technology.

It is taking hours to transfer files over. It goes much faster from the external drives to the new computer. Just getting stuff off the old computer onto the drives, uhg. I have pictures transferred, working on some written things and audiobooks now. Photos can be a real doozy, now that digital resolution tends to be so high. AHh, oh well. Since I have this laptop to work off of while waiting, it's all good. Though I need to work on my magazine piece.

Had a good chat with art director this morning. Then went back to bed. AHh. So warm.

Mellowed out. My computer arrived so the rest of the evening was spent with that. I think after this last batch of transferring, I'll work on my piece. I need to figure out if our scanner goes up to 300dpi. If it doesn't, I'll need to go in to an Office Max type place and get it scanned there. Guuh. Gotta do what ya gotta do.

it is a Tuesday, what more do you want?

I figured that if I set the alarm volume on my phone to a higher volume, it wakes me up more. Got up around noon instead of 1-2ish. Whee.

Had some cheerios and tea. Drew a bit. Chilled a bit. Got an email about the sketches I sent for this assignment I'm working on. Edited and redid the text as per the suggestions. Emailed the new look of the thing. Tomorrow I will have a quick call and then everything should be finalized and painted and sent off, ohh la la!

Watched some Star Trek and Twilight Zone and some Mission Impossible 3. A lot of sitting around. Tomorrow I shall finish my assignment for ze magazine, and when it is available for purchase, I'll tell y'all to go buy it! And then the next thing to do is to get on with my life.

sketchy

Oh it is weird to not post what portrait I did. It is like some void. But since I feel like drawing, I shall draw more.

I spent a really sluggishly productive day. I drew a bit. Watched a bit. Drew some more. Thought about sketching. Listened to music. Drank tea. Ate soup. Ate caramels. Got my sketch and text done. I could be done with this piece by tomorrow night, provided the feedback is good. Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Mock the Week was my queue for the day. Didn't watch Sherlock again. Tomorrow I'll likely do that.

It was rainy and sucky. Power flickered but didn't go fully out.

Been in a weird funk all day. But I got stuff done.

new years! 2012 begins!

The last portrait is a self portrait. Last verse, same as the very first.

December 31st:

Slept in till 1pmish. Ah. It was nice. The house was a bit chilly. I got my tights on, my dress on, put my hair in hot rollers, and got all my stuff together. Planned to catch the 5:30 into Seattle. Ate a late breakfast. My hot rollered hair didn't last once I started trying scarf and jacket combos. Styling hair just ain't worth the bother. Put on a big dramatic coat and off I went to the ferry.

On the ferry ride over, I traded a drawing for a palm reading. The palm reader was from Montreal and was very attractive. A smooth operator. My palms say that I am intuitive, artistic, either very emotional or emotionless, and some other stuff. Palm reading is a good way to hit on ladies. Very very effective. Hahaha. Ah. Yeah.

Also, Marcus was on the ferry ride over, but with a crew of friends. We only ran into each other getting on and off the boat.

Anyway, Chris was waiting in the terminal. We headed to the Queen Ann (??) area of Seattle and got some pub food and a couple brewskis and chatted about portraits and life and what we have been up to. Then we went over to his friend Spencer's house party (well apartment party). It was packed full of my kind of nerd. Elin. Nancy. Kevin. Alex. A bunch of people. We talked many things and the party had the most stocked liquor assortment I have ever seen at a shindig of this nature. It was impressive and I thought I was good about my consumption levels. Unfortunately I was not so good at remembering to drink water. Don't worry! Nothing bad happened. I didn't throw up on a cat, or fall down, or punch anyone. Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. At around 11:50, everyone in the party walked up the hill a bit to see the fireworks. It wasn't the best view for the display, but saw them we did. I went WHOOO a bunch. Then we wandered back to the apartment, cranked up the music, and dance dance danced. But then it became apparent that I was quickly approaching sleepy time, so Chris and I got a cab to his apartment, I curled up on the extremely comfy couch, and before I knew it, it was 10am the next day. Ha. Very fun, too bad I didn't drink enough water because then I might have lasted a bit more through the evening. Ah, oh well. Bye bye 2011, hello 2012!

January 1st:

Drank lots of water upon waking. Ate about half a slice of toast. At 1:30ish, we headed downtown. Tried to find a coffee shop but found all but the one in the terminal closed. Coffee for Chris, Citrus Odwalla for me. Yum! Said my farewell to my old friend Chris, and hopped on the ferry. Luckily, my boss Michael was on the same ferry ride over! So we talked and caught up some more.

Hopped in my car, and off I went home. Got the new Sherlock episode a downloading and then showered. Dinner was pasta and salad. Kudos to mom for her awesome salads. Once it downloaded, Mom and I watched it. OH SO GOOD! So so good. Exciting and multifaceted. Well worth the long wait. I'll be watching it again tomorrow for sure. And many more times. Ahhh.

Man, so weird to not list the day's portrait. Now I have to get down to real business.

STARTING MY LIFE! MOVING OUT! GETTING A JOB! STUFF!
