third times the charm, still late

Where did the time go? It is way late and I got up way early today!

Alarm went off at 6:40am. Got up at 7:10. Dad made some toast and off I went to my doctor's appointment! Hurray. The first place I went to was just off Salmon. Well actually I went into an optometrist that had the same name as the place I thought I was going, and they directed me to the place I thought I had to go. So I went there, wasn't found in the system, called mom, turned out it was a different doctor's system all together. So I drove up the hill, went to the clinic. They told me the doctor that I had to go to was actually in the hospital further up the hill. Gaaah. So I was about fifteen minutes late. Checked in. The next hour and a half dragged. I think my nice doctor was tending to a different patient or other things. It was nice that they still saw me and didn't force me to reschedule. I was nice and polite about being late and didn't make a fuss about the time it took her to see me for various things.

It was a good visit. Got home at around 11ish. Had a sandwich and some soda and spent the day drawing and watching stuff. The India Top Gear special was gimmicky and disappointing. Boo.

I am holding down the fort for ma and pa.

I am going to Seattle for New Year's. Fun fun!

everyone likes Pegg

Got right up, had some cheerios and tea and whipped out a cute portrait. Then at 3:30, Ma, Pa, and myself went to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It was fun! Brad Bird is a good action director. Simon Pegg was adorable. Good fun action movie. Can't go wrong with gadgets. It was a rainy day through and through. Ma took holly for a grooming, so now she is quite pretty and cuddle-able.

Dinner was pasta. I watched stuff and painted and didn't progress any further with my life.

ze magazine

Heard Dad loading up wood, so I got out of bed, showered, and went to help him haul wood up to the stacks by the house. Then had some tea and...chocolate for breakfast. Not very healthy. Snacked on some turkey. Worked on my magazine assignment. Talked to zee Art Director for my current assignment. Sketched thumbnails for ze assignment. Scanned and emailed them to Art Director. Now I'm relaxing and all that. Trying to figure out what to do with the rest of 2011. Movie tomorrow, maybe a movie the day after. Seattle after that.

Should make a list of things to accomplish.

Todays Portrait Is: Brian Cox.

yay chocolate

Ohhh back to late night/sleep ins already. Bad habits.

Ma was off doing something, Dad was looking at the shiny new Prius models. I did a portrait and I liked the way it turned out. Checked up on this thingy I'm doing. Watched some stuff. Did my nails. Dinner was pasta and shrimp. Yum!

My tomorrow plans have changed, so I think I'll spend some time really buckling down on the things I have to do.

Mmm can't stop eating chocolate. I should stop though.

bye bye natey!

Went to bed at around midnight, and got out of bed at around noon. Boy was that a doze. A nice one. Okay I woke up at around 9ish, but spent time just lounging about all warm and thoughtful.

Dad made some french toast and the bunch of us chatted and Nathan packed. At 2:30ish, we headed off to Silverdale. We mailed Nathan's presents out of UPS and hugged him goodbye.

The house is all quiet now. I had some snacks and chocolate and popcorn. Watched That Mitchell and Webb Look and relaxed and wondered how the rest of 2011 will unfold. Also did some portraits.

Wednesday I am going to hang with my friend Jared, who I haven't seen in years. Going to meet his wife and son! Also, his wife is pregnant and about to pop any day now, and they say the name of their soon to be daughter is Eleanor!

christmas 2011

I was up so late and then got up at 8:30amish. I am tired.

Got up, showered, and headed downstairs and claimed my sport in front of the fire. Emptied my stocking and assembled my lego. Whee. Had some tea and it was lovely.

I got an awesome chain-esque scarf from Nate, which is good because I can't find my usual mobious strip scarf. Got a regular Rubik's cube, which is awesome because I want to relearn how to solve them and now I have the start of a collection. Got lots of candy and some nerf and Playmobil and more lego and more candy and more candy. They know what I like, and what I like is candy. Also pajamas, which is exactly what I asked more. Also got an awesome mug from Madeline. The major gift is that ma and pa are helping with the funding of a new computer!!! YAAAYY! And I found a super good deal on a new HP laptop, which has tons of memory and a good hard drive and I'll more than be able to pay for my half. My current computer still works, but some of the hardware is just, failing. It is aging. With some work, I will reconfigure it to an external hard drive of sorts. Just back it up, reformat it, and put files on it. A nice little Christmas.

Nathan is feeling better.

At noonish, we headed off to Mats Mats for a grandma and grandpa Christmas! We didn't have a sit down dinner, but that was nice because then we didn't have to struggle with a ham and cooking. Just clams, shrimp, cheese, crackers, drinks, and company! Auntie Joyce left some presents behind, and she gave me a handmade snug shrug thing. It draped on my shoulders and was so warm and good. Love it!

We headed back at around five, because we had to put Holly out. There was a hot tub soak. There was pie. Nate heads back tomorrow.

No portrait today, sorry!

Ave! Ink! Yay!

I've been drawing since 7pm. My hand is totally shot. Hopefully I'll manage to unwrap presents tomorrow!

Got up at around 10. Nathan has the flu. Poor Natey! He was laid out on the couch with saltines and fizzy Sprite at his disposal, if he needed it. Dad made me some bacon and eggs, and it was good.

At noonish, Ma, Pa and myself went to Brynne and Dan's for the Christmas Eve party that was held in celebration of Averie. Lovely Averie is back from Africa for a while! And it was great to see her. Josh, Dave, Hans, Jenie, and an assortment of other people were there as well. It was a great shindig, with plenty of food and beverages. Dan even bought some Lagavulin single malt. It is like drinking a delicious peat bog. Mmmm. Gifts were exchanged. I drew a picture of Nietzche for Averie's roommate. Brynne gave me a bag of lovely hand me downs. More of them!

We left at around 5, because we had to get back to Natey to make sure he hadn't died and Holly had consumed his leg for sustenance. I dozed on the way back. Had some left over turkey and gravy and potatoes for dinner, and then I sat my bum down, put on Cabin Pressure and got to painting.

There won't be a portrait tomorrow. My hand hurts.

I won! By way of unintentional cheating.

It was warm, so I stayed in bed. Had some tea. Did my portrait.

At 4ish, I sat in front of the fire while the other people of the house prepared dinner. I worked some more on my holiday presents with aid from dad. Then dinner! Turkey! Mashed potatoes! Beans! Gravy! It was very good. I ate my share and when all the places were cleared, we played a game that Nathan got us: Space Truckers.

It took some understanding, but we managed to get through a game. I won but I didn't quite understand some of the rules so I had a major advantage in the last round. Still, it was a good game. Thanks Natey!

Now I am working on some presents and watching stuff with Nathan. Soon I shall part from Nate, and work on another present for a while.

Todays Portrait Is: Joseph Gilgun.

deadlines can be a real....

Just met my Friday deadline. Supposed to be early Friday, and you don't get much earlier than 1am! Booyah!

Got up around noon, and had tea for breakfast because Mom made a non Me friendly breakfast. Boo!

Dad fixed my headphones. Yay!

I worked on a portrait and at around 4:30ish I drove into Silverdale to do some Christmas shopping. Got a couple things easily, but had to go to dreaded Wal Mart to get one thing. Uhhg. That place puts me in a panic. Do not like it one bit. At least I had Cabin Pressure to listen to.

For dinner there was cous cous and salad and I ate some rice crackers with hummus and I worked on achieving my deadline early. I'm fairly pleased with how much I managed to fit into the scheme of the image. Go me! I can't show it to you, not till, like, June 2012. But I'll tell you when to look it up, yeah?

nate's back

I'll go in reverse order, because that is more exciting! Had a late night hot tub with Nathan. It was frosty out, but none of us slipped. The tub was at a cool 99 degrees, which is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Boo!

Previous to that, Nathan showed me some of his games. Like Star Wars The Old Republic. That was neat.

Ma, Pa, Nate, and I went to see Tintin. It was fantastic! I was apprehensive about it because I'm not a big fan of motion capture, but it worked out really well! And some of the scenery was jaw dropping. Really fun film, and a good adaptation. Lots of fun. I was smiling throughout.

I had a bread and sausage late lunch/early breakfast. Played Skyrim while waiting for the movie and all that.

Ma came home from work, Dad and Nate came home earlier. I got out of bed a few hours earlier than usual, but not early enough because I missed everyone. Ah oh well.

I have a busy day tomorrow. Shopping, drawing, more drawing.

the hobbit looks really good

Working on a painting, so that I can finish that and then work on some paid work. Whoo.

Slept further in. I think I've just given up on getting up at a respectable hour. Maybe when Nate is here, I'll get up earlier. Maaaybe.

Ma was off doing ma things. Pa was off doing pa things. I did my Trillian thing.

Dinner was tacos! Yay taco night! Then we watched Midnight in Paris. That was a good film. Really enjoyed it. Fun, lots of good performances and things.

Not that complex a day.

noomi is awesome

Another crawl out of bed morning. I did wake up earlier, but didn't get out. Oh well.

Had some tea and oatmeal, and then we decided to catch the 4:30 showing of Sherlock Holmes. So I rushed a portrait and got it up and off we went to the theater!

It was a fun movie. Good filming, good actors. Nice to see more Moran and Moriarty baddie ness. A solid sequel.

We swung by Joanne's and picked up some of my art that mom had framed. Way too nice of a frame job for the pieces. Really way too nice. I've only won one award as as Illustrator! Wait till I get those Society of Illustrator awards.

Back at home I did some portraits. Gotta get ahead of the game so I can work on other pieces.

I don't have any real presents for Ma and Pa this year. Boo being poor and living in Seabeck. OHH CRAP I DIDN'T ORDER THAT THING THAT MOM ASKED FOR. ERRr....uhhh. Maybe I shouldn't type that.

rather lack luster, sorry

Uhh. I'm so rubbish at waking up early. Or rather, getting out of bed early. Oh well.

Slept in. Got to portrait drawing. Got the portrait up late. Got to working on this one other piece late. Let it dry and all that. Tried some of the wine that Brian gave us in thanks. It is good wine.

Not much happened today. Dad worked on his Christmas present. Ma went to a play.

Some of my videos work, some don't. It is frustrating. I wish I knew why some videos works and why others didn't.

Need to make a list of things I have to get done before Christmas. Yup yup.

Todays Portrait Is: Ellen Muth.

present packed but not shipped

Aww man. I want to draw but I should go to bed instead. At least I have the initiative of having portraits to do to get up and stuff.

Slept in. Then had a rushed poached egg on toast with melted cheese and off we went to Pulali! We turned the heat on and the house warmed up right quick. So unlike our house. Celia and Corrine came over and we gave auntie her birthday presents.

Brian Quist, a family friend, is staying at the Pulali cabin for a week to work on his writing. So he came over and we showed him about. Dad showed him how to shuck oysters. Everyone ate pie, I ate ice cream.

We bid adieu and we three went to the Geoduck Tavern. I wasn't so impressed with my french dip. It was an okay meal, though not worthy of the write ups it has apparently received.

Back at home we hot tubbed. It was great. I'm amazed at how much time can vanish.

jeeze ma, leaving me out in the cold like that!

My blog is still trapped in html edit only, so I still can't link to portraits. So remember to go to Portraitoday!

I was in bed for about 12 hours. Ha. It was a good rest. Got up, found that no one was around, so I had my little breakfast and did the computer thing.

For many hours.

Had some bread and cheese and cucumbers for lunch. Ate some chicken and chocolate for a late dinner. Finished one present. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I could have done better I suppose. It isn't Nate's present though. Need to start that. I'll do that tomorrow.

Ma and Pa watched Despicable Me, and I worked in the Girl Cave. Mom locked the door, thinking I was in the house. But I wasn't, so I had to knock and grill her about locking the door and being unaware of where her daughter was. Some mother she is!

I've watched so much Mock the Week. It is all blending together. I think some stuff is happening tomorrow. Yay!

no sleep, all work

Anyway. Ended up not going to sleep last night. At 4:30am, I figured that if I went to bed, I wouldn't roll out of bed till 3pm and that is no good. So I stayed up. I drew and drew and drew. And it was AWESOME. All though the work I did in the 6-8am time range wasn't so good.

Anyway, I got a lot done today! Dad made pancakes. They were good. At 11am, I went with mom to her wetlands study. I napped in the car on the way there. We went to the various markers and took note of the plants that surrounded us. I was pretty tired, but I eventually got my energy at around 2pm, aka the time my body clock is used to waking up at.

Mom made me a sandwich. Yum. We went into town for some quick errands. Paper, candy, shoes, etc.

Back at home, I worked on a project that I shant name. Then dinner with an episode of Red Dwarf. Yum chicken. Now I'm watching telly and drawing MORE. And it is 11pm and I feel I could go on foreevevvvver. I don't want to stop.

nib practice

Something is weird with Blogger and I can't edit in a certain format. So when I get the hyperlink function back, I'll link to the portraits at the bottom of this post. Till then, go to: portraitoday.blogspot.com

Slept further in. No dad or mum. So I sat and drew and watched Nevermind the Buzzcocks and Mock the Week some more. Started a thing. Started a different thing. The reason I'm being vague is because of presents and Christmas.

I'm on a roll with this drawing, so I don't want to go to sleep. But I should.

Dinner was soup. Yay soup.

Dad and I worked in the garage a bit.

It is so cold. Bleh. And all the good TV is ending.

Tomorrow I'll work on something really neat. Hopefully it turns out.

Stefon from Saturday Night Live

Stefon
6" x 5"
Pencil and ink

New York's hottest club is spiiicyy

Another cold morning sleep in. Had my tea and oatmeal. Did my internet routine.

Went into town. I should have left a little bit earlier, because I got caught up in school bus traffic. Still, got to town all right. Deposited my Odd Owl check. Went to Artist's Edge and got a pen holder and nib and a new brush. Then went to Michael's and got some supplies for Christmas presents. Whoo!

Got home right before mom did. Dinner was last nights delicious clam chowder. Glee was meh. Raising Hope was silly. Spent the rest of the night watching Nevermind the Buzzcocks and Mock the Week and working on a portrait of the Stefon character from Saturday Night Live. It is a bit scary, but I like it. I'll scan and post it tomorrow. Trying to add a little oompf to my portraits. It isn't an official Portraitoday portrait.

My sleep schedule is all wonky. Tomorrow I shall figure out how to drill a hole in something that may or may not be for the purpose of presents. Also I shall try to make something for Madeline.

Today's Portrait Are: Jeremy Brett and Benedict Cumberbatch (revisit).

blankets are my friend

Today's going into town plans were nixed when Dad borrowed my car. Ma was gone all day with work. So I plopped myself down in front of the computer, dug out some of my art supplies, and got to wasting another cold day in Seabeck.

Was wrapped in a blanket all day long. Had a scarf on for some chunks of it as well. Guh. Can't wait to move to California! Just a little bit more warmth would be welcome.

I like returning to ink and brush for drawing, with pencil preliminaries. Interesting to see how ones hand has changed after being in one medium for so long. Still trying to figure out a style, but that will come to me I suppose.

I wish it wasn't so cold. Makes me really not want to do anything.

I need to put away my books. And go through my stuff in the cabin.

Tomorrow to do:
  • Go to bank and deposit check
  • Go to art store and buy paper and nibs
  • Go to Michael's and get jewelry fastenings
  • ???

hair by mariel

To counter yesterday's early wakeup, I slept way in today. Ha. Need to set my alarm earlier.

Dad made me a poached egg on toast with melted cheese, because dad is awesome like that.

I didn't really get up to much today. Just mellowed around the house and kept warm.

I picked Mariel up at the Chevron at 6ish. I went to high school with Mariel and we've kept it touch because that is what modern technology easily allows. Brought her back to the house, where she cut and blow dried my hair. It is an AWESOME haircut. Best I've had in a while. The layers are fabulous, the bangs are blunt. Now I'm set for a while. Just let my hair groooow. For years and years. In high school, she had the long hair and I the short. Now it is reversed.

Mariel also cut and styled moms hair. It looks so cute! Very darling.

Got Mariel to the ferry right on time. Huzzah!

Now I'm watching Sunday television (Misfits, Homeland, Dexter) and wearing a face mask to tend to my skin. Tomorrow I shall deposit a check and get some supplies for Christmas presents.

Shame in Seattle

Got up nice and early! Like...7:40amish! Insane! Showered and hopped in the car with a bowl of Cheerios to munch on. Got some gas on the way into town. Today I was to meet up with Marcus and go to Seattle to see the Steve McQueen (different McQueen) movie Shame. Turns out there wasn't a showing till 3, when we originally thought there would be one at 11 or so. Oh well. We decided to go in early anyway.

It was a nice ride over, full of conversation about movies and Duchamp and artistic context. We got our tickets first and then I got a smoothie and he got a burger and we sat and chatted. And walked down to Pike's and chatted. I found one of those great "omg love Jesus" illustrated pamphlets. This one was about how by thinking we have a choice, we've already picked Satan. Wandered down into Pike's Place Market. Went into various shops. Walked back up to the theater.

We were first in and got prime seats.

Ahhh what a tragic, sad, well shot, well acted, well made movie. One of those "I'm going to feel really bad emotionally after this, but that just means it was a good artistic experience" type films. It delivered! Well worth the extensive journey. We caught the 5:30 back.

I managed to stoke the fire back into action upon my return. Watching Russian Sherlock Holmes and trying to think what to do with the rest of my life.

bored

Slept in. It was lovely. Ma and Pa were gone when I got up, and were only back for a little bit before heading off to a party. I kept the fire stoked. I raked the leaves. I put Holly out. Let her in. Watched Would I Lie To You. Drew four portraits. Got them queued up. Huzzah!

Ate junk food. Ate real food.

Tomorrow I'll have a bit of an adventure. So that will be nice.

My James Tiptree Jr. book arrived! Whee.

Rather lack luster Friday.

getting up early, what?

Set my alarm for 7 something, and got up at 9 something! Go me!

Went to Mats Mats with the parents and spent some time with Grandma and Grandpa. And by "spent some time" I mean I napped on the couch because I got up at 9am, instead of my usual noon. Watched some westerns and ate half a sandwich. It was nice to get out of the house and do something different.

Spent most of the day in a tired haze, because I am trying to reset my body block.

Watched Community with ma. Wasted time on the internet. My Friday plans got switched to Saturday. I'll do some house chores instead. Yup yup.

beauty rest

Sooo hard to get up. Ended up not going out to do stuff with Marcus and Rufus. Went into town with Ma around 3ish and made a tag for Holly's collar, and then picked up dad from the airporter. Ma dropped us off and then she went to meet her friend for a spa day. Dad and I went out for an early dinner at the Camp Union Saloon. The burger I ordered was quite good. Dad suggested that I use a knife and fork to eat it, I responded, "what, am I British?" to that suggestion. Utensils are for chumps. It was a good meal. No steak on the menu though. Boo.

The fire was stoked, Dad responded to some emails and went to sleep. I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight. Spending more daytime in bed and more night time awake.

Today's Portrait are: Paz De La Huerta and Jade Sheldon (Revisit).

time flies when you are sitting and not looking out the window

Slept in even more. Bad, bad Trillian. It doesn't take much. Had some oatmeal and tea. Showered.

Ma and I originally planned to go to the movies after Mom ran her errands, but when she got back from errands, that idea was nixed. So I worked on portraits and watched telly. Glee was good. Raising Hope was awesome. We watched a bit of Tommy and Tuppence. Ma went to bed at 10:30. I am going to bed at 5am. I really don't know how that happened. Just started watching and drawing and WHOOPS look at the hour, eh? But I like these portraits. Returning to color, albeit monochromatic color. Enough with the gray washes. Oh and also doing pencil sketches. Gotta change up the style to keep things fresh. I'm also revisiting past portraits, to example how I've changed and grown and all that. So when I have time, there will be revisited portraits. Yup.

I might get out of the house tomorrow, but no promises.

Today's Portrait are: Michael K. Williams and Tabitha Knight (Revisited).

zzz, already?

For a second I thought today was a do nothing day, and then I remembered my final! Ha. Feels like a do nothing day when I sleep in. Got up at around noon. Showered. Had some toast and orange juice.

Went off to class. Listened to the last program of Museum of Curiosity. Neil Gaiman was on it! Have to listen to it again with mom.

In class, we had our final exam and it was tricky. On the last two, I only missed a couple, on this one I missed 12...so not so good. But it wasn't 12 out of 13. There were many questions. Anyway. Done is done.

Talked to the art director for this project I'm working on. It is looking really exciting now! Huzzah.

Then relaxed. Ma wasn't home, so I just chilled and ate cheese and apples and stoked the fire.

When ma came home, we watched some Downton Abbey. I fell asleep during the next episode, don't know why though. Random nap?

Today is a double portrait! Whee!

Today's Portraits Are: Greg Davies & Chris Addison.

three deeee

Slept waaay in. Scanned and put the portrait in the queue. Went downstairs and had tea and breakfast and did my internet thing on mom's computer. We decided to go see Hugo Cabret in the afternoon.

That was a lovely, beautiful movie. The 3D really did bring it to this whole 'nother level of image fidelity. Ma said it was just as good the second time around. Really nicely done film. A bit long but very good.

Afterwards we swung by Home Depot and Trader Joe's for goodies. And we got tons of goodies! Yum!

Back at home I worked some more on a deadline and ate a salad and watched stuff. Tomorrow I have my Film Directing final. Just a wee exam and then I am FREE FOR THE HOLIDAYS! Woop woop.

My skin is all icky. Boo. No fun.

late and drawing

Gaah. It is late, and I'm trying to do a portrait, but it is a challenging one. I think I'm satisfied with it though.

Slept in. Uploaded a portrait. Ate a breakfast that dad made more me. Bacon and eggs! Then we went and got a tree. Ma didn't get the tree that she wanted, but we got a nice one. One of the biggest yet, even though ma wanted to go small. We listened to Museum of Curiosity while putting on ornaments and tinsel. We watched X Men First Class after dinner.

Dad is off to work for a few weeks. Boo.

Todays Portrait Is: Miranda Hart.

mello yello trillo

Ahhh lovely sleep. Sleepy sleepy sleep. I set the alarm, but I still relaxed in bed.

Got up. Had some oatmeal. Talked with the art director for the thingy I'm working on. Watched Miranda. Watched Work of Art and Project Accessory. Worked on portraits. Helped haul wood up. A nice Friday.

Tomorrow we get a Christmas tree!

moist plinth

Last day! Well not really the last. My final exam for Film Directing is on Monday. But done with classes and stuff. Ma made me a poached egg on toast with melted cheese.

In class, we got through about half the scene presentations. I sat in the back and drew and didn't present. Some people really needed to learn how to be succinct. Some talked too much about this and that. Probably nerves. After class I put my class files onto a thumb drive and went home.

At 8pm I managed to meet a deadline. Whoo! I'll have my first business type call tomorrow. That is exciting! I'm not sure how much I can talk about what I am doing, so I'll err on the side of caution and keep it mum.

Watched Miranda as a reward. Damn it is late. I ate a bunch of candy as well.

I'm done with schooooool. Pretty much done. Time to chill.

Also COMMUNITY WAS HILARIOUS!

Miranda is so Hilarious, Ma you need to watch this

Hurray! The last day of Flash class. Boo the last day of the good Illustrator class. Got up and all that. Showed ma and pa some videos on youtube and was almost late to class. But not late. Right on time. Go me.

In Illustrator we went over our projects and showed what we did with this and that. Lots of good projects and some cluttered ones. But it is hard to fit all the requirements into one piece. Had some time left over, so I doodled about on the Internet. In Flash, we had a delayed start while everyone got their stuff in. It was more important for the teacher to see that we hit all the bases than to get a critique of what we did in the class. Just as well, didn't want to hang around that long for it all. Everything went well. I tried to find the film people but had no luck, so I went home.

Worked on my film stuff. Ate some food and watched Miranda and Lost Girl. And then worked some more. And took another break. And finished up! It isn't that large of a scene, but it took a lot of work anyhoo.

Yay I get to sleep in tomorrow a bit. Then work hard on a deadline. Then this weekend I'll tidy stuff up probably.

Todays Portrait Is: Tom Lenk.

museum of curiosity is funny

Sleep in day! I slept in! All the air outside of the warmth of my bed was cold. Makes it not fun to go through. But soon I'll be able to sleep sleep sleep.

Did my internet rounds real quick like. Grabbed some cheerios and tea.

Ohhh there was chocolate on the stairs when I woke up!! Yaaay for California goodies.

Back in my car, but that isn't so bad. It goes vroom a lot better than the Prius. Soon I won't have to drive at all. Actually, I think I only have about three more trips into Olympic College that I have to do. That is nice. Won't have to pay for gassssoline. But I still want to earn some money. My friend Terry is doing another Kickstarter, so I want to donate to that.

Anyway, class was good. Learned about how to stage things for emotional impact and all that. Decided to coin the phrase "removing Dale's hat" for that moment in adaptations when you give up the hope that it will be faithful and accept it is what it is. I don't know how well it will catch on, but here is hoping.

After class, I starved in the computer lab and GOT STUFF DONE. Whooo. Got my Flash stuff done. Might be missing this and that but it is hard to care. Not the most impressive thing I've done, but like I said, whatever. Last class tomorrow too! Whoo!

Illustrator still has a couple things that need doing, but I'll do them. I have plenty of time. Well plenty of time to do what needs to be done. Still have other stuff I haven't worked on.

Got some McDonald's on the way home. It was good though all that junk food on an empty stomach wasn't a good idea. Got home at around 8:40. Raising Hope was HILARIOUS AND AWESOME.

Now I must get to sleep and get up and finish my last day of Illustrator and Flash. Yippee! And then do some video club stuff and then the stuff for Film Directing and that other thing. Late night tomorrow. Whoo.

Todays Portrait Is: Danny Strong.

last few days

Yaaay back to it. I just realized that tomorrow I have to finish all my Illustrator and Flash stuff. Then it is all done. Whoo! Yaaay!

I am nearly done assembling all the pieces for my Illustrator final. Probably just need another hours worth of work. That is pretty awesome. Have some extra stuff to finish as well.

In Flash I got all my stuff to work on the guides and it is coming together nicely. Still not the most impressive piece of animation. Each one seems like it needs an extra oompf, but that is the art student wanting to break free but not knowing how, what with the limitations of the classroom. But I have all the specs accomplished, so that is good. Just need to finesse it.

Got home and relaxed and watched stuff and read a bit and figured out my scene for my Film Directing final (we have to do a scene mockup). I'm a bit behind, but I'm not worried.

I cleaned up. Did the dishes. Let the dog in for a bit. Got the mail. Ate some microwave wood. Go me.

At 9:40 I left to pick up ma and pa. They didn't look like they enjoyed being back in the cold land of Washington. I didn't mind being left alone for 10 days. Not that lonely. Had stuff to work on. Stuff to watch. Junk food to consume.

Now to get this week finished.

finals week is actually the week before finals

Got up nice and groggy at 10am. Which was too late as Holly had pooped and peed. DAMN! Had such a good track record. So I put her outside and out she remains tonight and tomorrow. She was very very pushy about trying to be let back in the house. She needs to learn some manners about being in and out. She can't just barge right in. Bad doggie. Though it is my fault she wasn't let out often enough (though she needs to take the hint to use the bathroom when she is put outside). So I cleaned that up. Fun morning.

Ate some oatmeal, drank some tea, went to school for a few hours and listened to Cabin Pressure and worked on finals. Got some good things done. A bit behind when it comes to the animation, but I'll just stay late at school tomorrow and the day after and get it sorted. I've almost ticked off all the requirements for the final project, so whatever. I've learned (through other tutorials) what I sort of need to learn. It is hard to really care.

Got some Jack in the Box on the way home. It is tasty up until the last couple bites, then it gets to be a bit much.

Did my laundry. Did FOUR portraits! Watched Misfits (SO GOOD) and Dexter (yeah, saw that twist coming). Tomorrow I shall work on stuff some more. And clean up the house (it isn't that messy, there are just a lot of cans and dishes). And work on Film Directing final. Oh and this other thing that I'm not sure if I can or can't talk about.

Final week of school! Yay! Plus one day next week for Film Directing exam taking.

time and all that jazz

I forget what I was supposed to do today. Work on finals? Well I didn't do a lot of that. Sort of did. Didn't really.

Slept in. Put Holly out at about 9ish. Let her back in 1ish. I tried to cuddle with her but she was rather smelly, as it was raining and she got wet. I didn't take her for a walk, as, again, it was raining.

Stayed inside. Made myself a nice sandwich for lunch. Drank some tea. Watched some stuff on the Internet. Time went by slowly. And then really quickly. It does that.

I'm thankful for everyone and their company

Didn't write last night because I was tired and didn't feel like summing it all up. So now lets get to three days worth of awesome adventures!

Wednesday:

Got up bright and early and packed up all my things. I felt really bad chaining Holly up. I stuffed her dog house with blankets and filled her bowl with more food than she really needed. Then I drove off and left her for the day, night, and day. In Illustrator I worked on the poster. Lots of little things and listening to music. I left about 20 minutes into Flash to catch the ferry. Parked the car at the ferry and got on the 1:45 right on time. Listened to the hilarious Cabin Pressure. Stood under the aqueduct for a few minutes and then Brynne picked me up and off we went to Bellevue! We chatted and snacked and I found myself allergic to either the dog or the cats. Boo. She took a nap and I watched the first two episodes of Castle. Dan came home and we chatted about books and stuff. Then we went to Flo sushi and it was THE BEST sushi I've ever had. The rolls were spectacular and tasty and just flawless. Best. A great treat. Back at the apartment we watched Sherlock, but we all fell asleep at different points. It is beautiful on their 57 inch television though. All the pores. So beautiful. So high resolution. Too bad we were so tired.

Today's Portrait is: James Marsters.

Thursday:

Woke up and showered and had some oatmeal and tea. It is like I never left home! Except I was all allergic and stuff. Dan and I took Honey for a walk. Brynne let me have a cupcake early. A tester. It was tasty. Josh arrived looking sharp. Then I worked on getting ready. Did my hair into dutch girl braids and did my eyemakeup, but then I messed it up and started over. Put on the vintage dress courtesy of mom. Brynne gave me some tights. So nice of her! Oh she also got me an AWESOME sci fi calendar. I need to visit more often. I get ever so pampered. Once all was done, we chatted and I fiddled with Dan's camera.

Then we hopped in the separate cars and headed up to Edmonds. There were several Davids, a Don, a Joan, and others at the lovely wonderful house that was hosting us. One of the guests was a collector of Scottish whiskeys, so I got some education in the finer stuff. The highland variety. The 16 year Lagavulin has my heart. So peaty and smooth and scrumptious. And since I had to drive later that night, I was able to enjoy my samples and didn't overly sample from the collection. Haa.

The gravy was good. Totally wonderful. And it went so well on the lovely turkey. Everything was so good and so perfect. I talked art with much of the company. Don was a retired art appraiser. There was one teenager, but he was a talented piano player so he fit right in. It was a lovely Thanksgiving with lots of good company and food and laughs. All was well and everyone got along. And I didn't have to do any dishes! I got on the 9:10 ferry and rested and listened to more radio comedy. It was a nice ride home. Hardly any other cars, let alone traffic. Holly was excited and happy and raced around once she was off her chain. She was unscathed by her cooping up, but she clearly didn't like it. All her food was eaten.

Today's Portrait is: Juliet Landau.

Friday:

Slept in as much as I wanted. I earned a good sleeping in. Took Holly for a walk and got the mail and newspaper. Holly did her doggie business. I spent the day relaxing on the computer. I'll do my finals work Saturday and Sunday. Turns out I really didn't need to do any grocery shopping. Ten days isn't that long. Ate some bananas. Watched some Slings and Arrows and finished watching The Pacific. Did some portraits. It has been a good holiday.

Today's Portrait Is: Michelle Trachtenberg.

the day before the day before

For a second there, I thought I had posted for the day. Turns out I didn't.

Anyhoo. It rained all night and through most of the day. Stormy icky rain. I left Holly outside, so that she wouldn't be too pampered by being indoors when it came to chaining her outside for my Thanksgiving night out. Just this once Holly. Just this once.

On the way to school I dropped off a package for mom. Class was relatively uneventful. Studied stuff. Discussed the final. And so on. Swung through Silverdale on the way back home and picked up some snacks at Trader Joe's. Mmm. I've been listening to Cabin Pressure since I finished Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy. Cabin Pressure is hilaaaarious.

Back home I tried to stoke a fire but met with no success. There is no kindling, so it makes it quite difficult.

I eventually gave up, had dinner (salad followed by a hot pocket) and watched Cronos.

Tomorrow, after school, I shall park the car in Bremerton, hop the ferry, and spend the night with Brynne and Dan. The next day is Thanksgiving, which I will be spending with them and other peoples. It is a fancy Thanksgiving, so I'll be wearing my fancy dress (see above). I shall be away from my computer so there won't be a blog post. I hope everyone has a lovely feast. See y'all Friday!

first slush of the season

Woke up at 6am to some weird sounds in the woods. But seeing as it snowed, that was probably just the sound of trees sloughing their weight.

It was already slushy when I was eating my breakfast and getting ready for the day. Left to doggie inside and took the Prius. In Illustrator I finished up the chapter 12 work and started in on the poster project. Two projects due and some extra stuff. There is also some journaling that needs doing. Due next week. Ahhhh!

In Flash I figured out how to get audio to stop when you exit a scene/the scene finishes. So now all the links and stuff are working, just need to figure out what else I'm going to animate and what music to put with it. Left at a bit after 3 and returned to Holly, who was very good. Took her on a walk right away and she utilized the time for lots of...relief. Good doggie.

Spent the rest of the night eating, doing my nails, and talking to Auntie Brynne about Thanksgiving plans. Low key night. This weekend will be a crunch time I reckon. Getting it done and all that. Then Christmas breaaak!

a day in front of the fire

Awww yeah, today was great. I got up at about 9ish and put the dog outside, and then went back to bed for a few more hours. Then I got up, had some tea, and watched a few episodes of The Pacific on mom's laptop. I spent most of the day downstairs on her laptop, keeping Holly company while I did my internet business. I stoked a great fire in the fireplace. A warm awesome fire. I sat with my back to it and ah it was wonderful. Watched Misfits and tooled around on the Internet and kept warm. It was nice. A very nice Sunday.

Then I remembered I hadn't done a portrait. So I did a few of those. Now I'm very tired for no reason, so I think I'll try and get a reasonable amount of sleep tonight.

Took Holly for a walk and grabbed the mail from yesterday and today's paper.

She was very behaved though a bit needy at times.

Not feeling lonely yet, but I suspect it will be a cold week.

SAM

Got up at 7 and Dad showed me how to switch over the generator, if need be. He also showed the proposed set up for Holly when I am away for longer stretches of time. I don't want to chain her up but seeing as how the silly thing has wandered off. And Mom still needs to send away for a proper tag for her.

I caught the 12:20 from Bremerton to Seattle and met Cherish (a PNCA buddy who lives in Kirkland now) at Seattle Art Museum. She got a special deal on tickets. Neither of us had been to the museum since it had been changed, so that was fun. They have some really nice new acquisitions, all though I think the layout of the museum lead to a lot of going in circles for us. Still, it was nice. Painted walls. Good pieces. The really breath taking piece was the Do Ho Suh one. It was fabric that was stitched and suspended and sculpted into looking like a arc that you could walk through and there were projections on the cloth. It was beautiful. At 3:20ish, we went to Uwajimaya and had a late lunch/early dinner, followed up with creme puffs. So good. We chatted and gossiped and caught up. It was really nice to hang with a PNCA pal.

She dropped me off in Fremont and I hung out with Sam for a bit. Unfortunately I missed the 7:50 ferry and had to catch the 9:10. So I napped while I waited and napped on the way home. Doggy was still home and I let her inside. Turned on the heat and warmed the house up. Mmm. All alone for a long while now. Boo.

last day with the parentals for a while

Oh boy, the weekend! I did lots of sleeping in. Tomorrow I'll have to take the parents to the airporter, so no sleeping in. AND I'll be going to Seattle to hang with Cherish, so my sleep schedule will reset and stuff. Or I'll just sleep in even longer on Sunday. Hmm.

Had some oatmeal and tea for breakfast. Two bowls of soup and lots of bread for dinner. I think I ate something between the two, but I forget.

Didn't really do...anything. Bad me. Need to make a finals list, because then I can start crossing things off it and feel good about accomplishments. Actually, just started the list. Whoo.

Pa did shopping for grub to tide me over till they return.

I brushed Holly and she licked my face. I hope this face licking isn't that much of a trend.

Ma and Pa leave for California for the next 10 days. I reckon I'll get lonely a bit, but then I have finals and stuff to keep me occupied.

Todays Portrait Is: Alyson Hannigan.

finals are a coming

Stayed up late and slept in, thankfully I have a nice window of time to sleep in on Thursday. Dad made a poached egg on toast with melted cheese for me. Yumm! In class we reviewed scene and subject motivations and went over the final assignment. We have to do a scene set up thing. Shot list, camera angles, storyboards. That will be fun.

Out of class, I went to the lab and listened to my audiobook and struggled to keep focused on my illustrations. Progressed the animation. Need to think about how I'm taking it to the next level. Got some basic pans and things. I construct the images in Illustrator and copy them into Flash. It is fun. In a way. Still need to work on it tons more. Time is running short.

Got home to a salad and pasta. Mmm. Liked the salad. Watched a hilarious Community and an okay Parks and Recreation. Worked on some portraits. It is suddenly late again. Dang.

website revamping

Today was rainy and gray and sucky. I absorbed all the heat I could from bed. Got up. Had some tea and sausages for breakfast. I WAS planning to leave and go to school and work, but I was warm and stayed home.

However, I did work on revamping and streamlining my website: trilliantrillian.com. Feels good to get that in better order, though it still needs some work. Gotta step up the professionalism and all that. Resume and portfolio are soon to follow.

Had a chicken pot pie for lunch. Drank some soda. Dinner was beans and salmon and...something else. Uhhh. Oh fries.

At 9ish the power cut out, so I watched a DVD on mom's laptop. I was getting prepared to go to sleep, but then the power came back on, so now I'm online again. Whoo! Need to draw some portraits and stuff. Tomorrow, I'll stay at school and work on stuff.

ma makes good cookies

Slept all the way in. As it gets cold, who wants to leave a warm bed?

Had cheerios and tea for breakfast. Got to class. We got notes print outs because writing down the notes takes up too much time. So we looked at the notes and watched the videos and got the final project assigned. I shared some cookies. And then I returned home. I put the doggie out when I left, and let her back when when I returned. The house was fairly cold so I put on another sweater. Had a cheese steak. Mmm. Watched the first episode of Homeland because it was highly recommended to me. Quite good pilot.

I made burritos for dinner. They were good. I really need to get some taco specific seasoning. Maybe I'll put it on the Christmas list. Ha. Glee was a good episode. This season is surprisingly linear and has development and good songs. Raising Hope was hilaaarious. So many great moments. Probably one of the best episodes yet.

I don't have class tomorrow, but I probably will head in and work in the labs on my projects and stuff.

things are good

Back to school, and it wasn't such a hard wake up. Normally Monday's and Wednesday's are.

Dad made me a sandwich for lunch. So great that pa of mine.

Illustrator was a lecture in symbols, then work time. With headphones, I was a lot more productive. Almost finished my chapter 10 work. Flash was a work day. I worked. Got some of the basic background stuff done. Still have a lot more work to do. I'll be parking some long hauls in the lab in these coming weeks I suspect, but that is okay. I'll just get a good audio book and throw myself at the work.

Car brakes are good.

Ma made cookies. Ma's cookies are good. Had a pot pie for dinner. Watched some stuff. Kept warm. Most of my homework needs to happen at school, so I take it easy these nights. Ohh need to do some portraits. I'll do those...in a bit.

girl power

Slept in. Gotta stay warm and keep the snuffles away. I'm constantly worried about getting a cold, but so far I have kept them at bay. Super immunity, all thanks to candy!

Had some cheerios and two cups of tea for breakfast. Later on Dad showed me how to take the tire off my car, remove the brake calipers, AND replace the brake pads! Good life skills. Got the tire off no problem. Dad did the handiwork, but I hovered and helped. My fingers got mucky but my manicure still looks good. Cleaned the tires. Put them back on. Lots of learning this afternoon. I like learning stuff from dad. Makes me feel like I'll be more self reliant down the stretch. I don't want to be one of those people who ask their company to pull the chain in the toilet tank, because they can't be bothered to fix the handle.

ANDDD Dad borrowed my car and returned it with a full tank of gas! I suggested he just put a couple bucks in it, but he put, like, a couple bucks time ten! So awesome.

After all that, I remembered I had to do a portrait, so today's portrait came up quite late.

Dinner was cous cous and steamed veggies. Delicious!

I'll try to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Yet another week begins! Ohh I need to scan some stuff...gotta remember to bring head phones to class tomorrow. Yup.

you know you are a pacific northwesterner when...

Friday:

Slept a bit in. Had poached egg on toast with melted cheese. Worked on portraits. Delayed the rest of the happenings because of said portraits. Eventually we got on our way. Picked up a chipper shredder. Went to Grandma and Grandpa's for dinner. Tasty chowder made with hand dug razor clams. Ma makes good chowder. There was also pie, but I had no pie. It is apple pie or nothing for me. I learned that my great grandma, when she was over her clam limit, would stuff clams into her boots. Ha! At 7ish or so, we departed for Pulali. We snacked and watched TV. I watched Fringe. And then we watched an episode of The Saint, and then the start of a New Zealand vs France rugby game. The haka that the New Zealanders do is SO NEAT. I think I could get more behind sports if they all chanted and did a power dance of sorts. France sure looked intimidated, and seeing as how they lost, it worked! Huzzah!

I read some of The Sisters Brothers and went to bed.

Today's Portrait Is: Matt Smith.

Saturday:

Woke up to a plate of bacon. Thanks dad! Yay bacon! Made myself a cuppa tea and got to work with the chipper. Hauled wood into the rented chipper. It chipped. I got smacked in the eye with a piece of wood, well eye lid. Could have lost an eye, but I didn't. Thankfully. I need my eyes. Also got smacked in the arm quite a few times. The chipper is a dangerous thing. Took a lunch break with chowder and toast, then back to work with more shredding! Finished. I helped hose down the machine. Spent some time trying to warm up in front of the fire, and was all bundled up on the way home. I still have the sniffles, even after getting into warm clothes and soaking in the hot tub for a long while.

Tomorrow is a work on flash stuff day. Gotta work on my flash stuff. And portraits. But mostly flash.

Today's Portrait Is: John Barrowman.

come on little car, you can do it!

Got up with time to study. Which I sort of did. Glanced at the notes a bit. Ate oatmeal. Drank tea.

I left on time, but unfortunately there was road construction of some unknown nature, so I had to backtrack towards Silverdale and get on the freeway. My car doesn't like being forced into high speeds and sustaining them. Well, sometimes it is quite good. Today it wasn't so good. Very jumpy. Had some trouble shifting and stuff. My car needs to be able to get me to the Bay Area next year, as it is the plan to crash at Nathan's and look for work. But that is a low of high speed driving, and I fear my car having a fit part of the way there. Hmmmn.

In class we did a quick review and then took the test. I got a 96%! Only missed two, which I'm fine with. Back in class we looked at more stuff about scene blocking with scattered characters.

Headed home, and once again I had to take the detour. My car does not like going 60 and then going up hills. Poor thing.

Heloed haul up some wood.

Dinner was delicious! Fish with mushroom sauce and a side of peas, carrots, and potatoes. Yummeh.

Did my laundry. Did my nails. Messed up my nails, so I did them again.

itchy again, what the hey

Yaaay got to school and stayed awake all day. Though the first couple hours were a trial. Dad made me lunch, which was totally awesome.

In Illustrator, we went over how to do 3D and perspective grid stuff. I wish I brought headphones, it is hard to focus in that quiet class room.

Flash was a work day. I worked. Got the major techniques sorted. I left early to get to the video meeting. The green screen room wasn't booked. Oops. Found Angelo. Then Tiffany. Then Anya and Jeremy. The club meeting was spent doing some film stuff for a promo video for the club. The ball isn't happening as it seems. Oh well.

Now that it is daylight savings time, I don't drive home with the sun in my eyes. Yippe!

Chicken, potatoes, and beans for dinner. Watched telly. Now I shall sleep. I need it.

time scoots forward too fast

It is VERY late and I still haven't scanned my portraits. Gah. Wha. It took me a while to get to them.

Slept in. Because well, yeah duhh.

I got to class right on time, but that was unneeded because class was delayed due to more computer errors. Chatted with Marcus and Rufus as usual. Even got a few words out of Quiet Eli. Learned a minor bit later on.

Went home. Did nothing. Watched stuff. Thought about things. Ate pot stickers. Watched Glee and some The PJs and Raising Hope.

Now I'm watching Ask Rhod Gilbert. Time flies way too fast.

Todays Portrait Is: Billie Piper.

chilled

Daylight Savings! Sleep in till 1 but it feels like 2. Hahah. Got out of bed to let the doggie in from the cold and crawled back under the blankets.

Didn't turn the heater on nor stoke a fire, so the house was pretty chilly. I wrapped myself up into a blanket and parked it in the computer chair. Ma and pa came home at around 4ish. Dinner was delicious potatoes, chicken, and broccoli. Started queing up my telly. Right now I'm just done with Downton Abbey. So sad. Got a few more to go.

Still not sure what I'll do for the flash final.

I wish blankets wrapped around legs was more fashionable. A lot better than long johns, though then I'd have to bring the blankets with me.

Quiet little day. Cold quiet day.

Tomorrow is a work day. I'll be working to figure out what I'm going to do for my Flash final.

Todays Portrait Is: Colin Baker.

house to myself

Trying to watch Withnail and I and I'm not quite following it. It is a bit deranged. I'd be better off with Ask Rhod Gilbert.

ANYHOO. Slept in a bit. Ma and Pa went off to Pulali Point for the night, but I decided to stay home. Walked Holly. Let Holly in and out and in and out. Watched stuff. Listened to music. Drew some portraits. Kind of lonely actually. And cold, as I accidentally let the fire in the fireplace go out and I couldn't be bothered to make another one.

Tomorrow I'll need to figure out what I'll start doing for the Flash final.

wait, which one is Alleline and which one is Haydon?

Ohh I was blogging but then I got distracted.

Rolled out of bed at the last possible moment. Showered. Grabbed some biscuits and a bottle of this sobe stuff and headed off to school for a Video Club Meeting. There was pizza at the meeting! Hurray! We moved to the multicultural room and I took notes on the white board as we brainstormed for the various projects and filming and things. It was a productive two hours. I wrote lots of notes and everyone provided input and stuff. I like being in clubs. Extra activities and being helpful are good.

Went home. Because that is how I roll. I keep drifting in and out of interest in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. It isn't the easiest audiobook to listen to, I'll tell you what.

Had a mixed appetite once I got home. Watched Downton Abbey with mom. I feel really funky, so I think I'll go to bed now. Oh, would you look at that, it is past my bed time anyway.

obscuratism is a great word

Ha, all that stuff about getting up early? Total bullpucky.

Got up. Had my oatmeal and tea. Went to class. In class we had major computer issues so we could only watch the DVD section of things, so we didn't get very far. I don't see why we couldn't watch all the DVDs and review while the computer was getting fixed (normally we watch and then he suggests notes for us to take). The DVDs are pretty neat scene set up breakdowns.

So I chatted with the people in my seating group and killed time and ate sweets. I REALLY need to cut down on my sweet intake, but that is easier said than done.

Went home. Cuddled dog. Watched stuff. Ate pizza. Hot tubbed. Watched more stuff. Ate a cupcake. I very much need some exercise. Holly got groomed today and she is so soft. Gave her lots of cuddles.

Tomorrow is a video club meeting, and I will probably stay on and finish my Illustrator stuff (just so I can be super on the ball with it all).

drizzle

Dang it is late. Need to blog earlier in the night. Before I do a run of portraits. My blogs are full of so much repeated stuff. Not a lot has changed, but at least I get out of the house and socialize.

Illustrator class went into color groups and stuff. We had work time and I worked. Flash was review of buttons. I managed to get the button project I was working on finished. Our final assignment was assigned (it isn't so much an assignment as a series of things we need to example). Now I need to think up a good idea and do it. Maybe a sort of Where's Waldo esque thing? With lots of clicking and stuff. Hmmm.

After that I went to Video Club and learned about lighting. The camera went dead, which sucked, so we just moved the lights around.

It was raining, and that isn't fun to drive in.

Pa made dinner. Mmm potatoes and beans and salmon. A crowd pleaser. We three watched Green Hornet. I enjoyed it more in theaters, still it was fun.

Watched Ringer, Sons of Anarchy, the horrible American Horror Story (bad yet I can't stop watching)...got three portraits done. Go me!

sweet sweet candaay

Used all my hours to sleep in. I should make more of an effort to not do that on my easier mornings.

Had oatmeal and tea. Mmm.

In class we went over right, parallel, and other angle set ups, as well as how to shoot scenes and stuff. I took the notes. Lots of notes. Chatted with Marcus and Rufus. Ate a ding dong and my regular meat jerky stick thing (protein, it makes up for all the candy I eat). Lots of notes were taken.

Afterwards I went to the computer lab and finished up my typeface! It is completed! YAAAY! Always room for revision suggestions, but it is indeed finished.

Swung by mom's office and said hello and tried to embarrass her in front of her coworkers. Instead they complimented how much I looked like mom. I gave ma my remaining ding dong, but later wished I hadn't.

Back at home, I put my feet up and snacked. Dad came home with candy from the Grandparents. Mmm! Sweet sweet candy. At the time of this writing, I haven't eaten it all. So that is an improvement.

Dinner was delicious pasta and home made delicious sauce. Ma really knocked it out of the park. So very good.

Glee was okay. Not so exciting. We couldn't be bothered to watch the unfunny New Girl, but you bet your butt we stayed up for Raising Hope! Always fun, always delightful.

I watched another episode of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Now, to bed with me!

halloween, what halloween?

Blogging now, because I feel like it. Also I know I'll be up late working on portraits, and I'd rather go to sleep once I'm finished.

Rolled out of bed at 8:20. Bleh.

Illustrator was lecture on mesh and gradients and stuff. We got a good two solid hours to work on the assignment, and I got it mostly finished. Hurray! I'm so on top of things with this class.

In Flash we reviewed how to make buttons and stuff, then we got 45 minutes of time to experiment. I can't quite figure out how to make it link from one thing to another. I'll look up some tutorials. Still, a good class. Wish there were more like this and less like others.

Went home. Relaxed. Ate some candy. Ate more candy. Ate a salad. It is only 8pm but it feels much later.

Todays Portrait Is: Robert Webb.

clammin'

Saturday:

It was very much for the best that we didn't go to the beach last night, because it was rainy. Today was surprisingly nice. I woke up to ma and pa saying "we are ready to go" so I showered and stuffed a bag full of stuff and had a mediocre breakfast and off we went! Even though I had tea, I still napped on the way to Ocean City State Park.

We got a spot and settled in. We decided to take Holly with us on the trip, so we kept her on a leash and walked down to the beach. It was not windy and there were no fleas and it was sunny and not totally freezing. Near November and better weather that the summer. Whaaat?

Back at the motorhome, we had sandwiches and watched some Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It got dark and we suited up. We got our clam guns (home made by dad), our flashlights, our boots, our rain coats, and all this other gear to help us dig for razor clams at night. Hurrah! It was fun. An interesting trek in the stillness of night. Quite beautiful as the only illumination came from our lights and the moon was a red sliver low in the sky. We managed to dig up 20 clams using our guns. We found a couple broken ones that other people discarded. Didn't get the clam limit, but it was slow going and couldn't find that many spurts. Still, Dad is a champ at digging. Really good at chasing them through the sand.

Back at the moho, we finished the movie and ate mac and cheese. What a night!

Sunday:

Slept in, which was good because on a morning walk, Ma and Pa took Holly off a leash and she went and rolled in the carcass of a seal. While I slept, they washed her off. Silly smelly dog. Silly parents taking her off the leash.

Bacon, eggs over easy, and toast for breakfast! And cocoa! Yum!

We gave Holly a quick walk down at Pacific Shores or something and then headed home. Grabbed some DQ on the way. Then I took another nap. Spent so much time sleeping.

Helped empty the hot tub. Got Downton Abbey and Misfits all set up. Ate a burger. Hot tubbed. Somewhere in the day, I bit the inside of my lip something fierce. Ate a salad. Watched Bridesmaids with Ma and Pa. It was a bit awkward to watch at times, but it did have some genuine funny moments. I like the Chris O'Dowd is getting popularity on this side of the pond. He is charming.

Spent the rest of the night snacking and watching my Sunday Stories. Misfits was AWESOME. It is the show that above all others I look forward to. It is hilarious and I'll never let ma and pa watch it. Anyway, dig the new character (who has the same map pillowcases that we do) and love the set up for this season. Downton Abbey was good. Finally some good things happened, but as per usual it was more bad stuff. Boo, I just want characters to be happy! Walking Dead was okay. It is a good show it just...is sort of treading water. Dexter, gah, why did they do that to that character! I liked him. That was stupid. Boardwalk Empire will have to wait till tomorrow.

Yay. Illustrator. Boo. Flash. All though since it is a work day, then that should be good. Don't know what I'll work on but I'll come up with something, eh. Some things I care about, some things I don't.

another weekend is upon me

Oops totally went to bed and forgot to to Thursday's post. Don't know what happened there.

Thursday:

Ahh what happens on Thursday for me? Oh yeah, Film Directing lecture class. Went to that. We learned about shots and this and that and all these other things.

Chatted with Marcus and Rufus in the row in front of me about this and that. Sketched the back of their heads and chucked the drawing at them.

Went home. Chilled. Didn't do much that I recall. Watched the final episode of the first season of Downton Abbey with mom. Dad came home late tonight.

I worked on some portraits. Watched some stuff. Yup. And plum forgot to post.

Todays Portrait Is: Julian Barratt.

Friday:

I left my cell in my car, so I didn't set an alarm. Turns out, when I don't set any sort of alarm, I don't roll out of bed till 1 in the afternoon. Oops. Put some wood on the fire. Ate some breakfast. Chilled. Went into school for a quick minute to finish my Illustrator homework. Came back right quick because I thought that we were going to go camping tonight, but we decided to leave tomorrow. While everyone else is Halloweening, I'll be digging razor clams in the dark.

Ate some left overs and snacks and watched Julia Leigh's hauntingly bizarre film Sleeping Beauty. I'd say it had fewer that 100 edits in it (that is, cuts between takes of film). So many long takes, and really well executed ones too. Didn't feel needlessly overwrought with those shots, and it was a bit jarring when there were certain cuts within a few scenes. Really well filmed.

Tonight I will set an alarm, for tomorrow we go camping!

slide and move and pan and woah

Ma was able to pick up the doggie from the Human Society. Poor Holly. Hopefully she won't wander again.

In Illustrator, we reviewed our midterms and pointed out the this and thats that we did, which is a good way of going about it. A lot of my effects were on the subtle side so it is good that I was able to indicate where I did this and that. There were some nice projects, and I got a good remark from the teacher. Huzzah! The rest of class was a work day, so I worked.

Surprise of all surprises, Flash class was almost entirely lecture about Flash! We were introduced to buttons and how to use them in Flash. Lots of instruction. Filled up the whole class with few meandering tales. Daaang! Wish it was like this all the time, I'd complain a lot less.

After class I went to video & film club and learned how to set up tracks and to assemble the camera thingy that goes on tracks for smooth filming. That was fun.

Went home and cuddled with Holly for a good 30 minutes. Lots of hugs for sweet doggie.

Dinner was hummus and chips. Ma and I watched another two episodes of Downton Abbey. It provides a lot of discussion material for the two of us. Only one episode of this season left to watch! And then mom can move onto season two. Whee!

I'm very tired all of a sudden. All these irregular hours are catching up to me. I should go to bed.

viva Violet Hunter

Oh boy, another accidental late night. Got caught up painting and watching a Russian adaptation of Sherlock Holmes (what? I love me some Holmes, and Vitaly Solomin is gorgeous with his little mustache). Having an early day followed by a sleep in day followed by an early day and then four sleep in days...it is hard to keep regular.

Had a lovely little morning and went off to school for what ended up being a rather long day.

Class was line and angle management lectures. And some lectures about the protesters. And some more lectures. It went fast. I then sat myself down in the computer lab and worked on my Illustrator Midterm. Which was due tomorrow (which is now today) and all I had was a sketch. So from 3:15 to about 8:40 I worked. I listened to music and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Sometimes I follow it really well, and then sometimes I get confused. I'll just keep with it.

Apparently Holly wandered off and got picked up and dropped off at the Humane Society!! I hope she isn't a wandering dog now. I'd hate to think of locking her up when we leave the house. Poor doggie. We'll retrieve her tomorrow.

getting mom into da Downton

UHHHG. It was horrible getting out of bed this morning. Just painful. But I did it. And I got to class on time, though I got to class to find out that the teacher wasn't there and that the classroom was locked and the other lab was full up of people and security wouldn't unlock the room till 12:50...so I went to my car, listened to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy for a while, and then took a nap for an hour and a half. Yay! A cop knocked on my window, but only to inform me there was a burglar about and that I shouldn't leave my MP3 player visible when I exit my car. How nice!

I got a danish and some meat and candy and ate that with my tea in preparation for Flash. We got a lecture about story boards and looked at Hitchcock's storyboards from North by Northwest and watched the scene of them. That was good. We also got long rambles and the teacher picked on a student for doing games, but whatever she just rambles.

I completed some more touches on the type face and headed home. Had a soda and dug out my sweaters and some shirts. Ma pulled my good thick blanket from the crawl space and we settled in for back to back episodes of Downton Abbey! Yeaaaaah! Lady Violet has the best lines.

Then I watched the new episode of Work of Art. Daaamn these artists went off the crazy deep end. They come with a lot of credentials but they just spin off in some other direction. Totally a case of being too close and not seeing the bigger picture.

Anyway, it is late and I am tired. Thankfully I get a little bit more sleep in time on Tuesday and Thursdays.

4am? really?

Uhg, I am tired. Was up late drawing a picture to incorporate into my Illustrator midterm. Had a dickens of a time getting it all sorted out. Now it is suddenly quite late. Bleh.

Slept in. Had a meager breakfast. Chilled most of the day. Talked to Madeline. Helped haul some wood up to the wood pile. After that we went to Origami Sushi for dinner. Scarfed some sushi and ate off of Mom and Dad's plates. Then we went to see Johnny English. Good ol' Rowan Atkinson. Never not funny. Such a great physical comedian.

Yeah, it is late. Not feeling up to a larger sum up of the day.

bat attack

Ahh didn't get out of bed early to make breakfast. But I got up early enough to make lunch for Ma and Pa, and breakfast for myself. Yum scramble! Perfect way to start the day.

Spent the day working on portraits. Maybe not working as hard as I could but I did get four done, so that is good. Watched the very depressing moving Third Star. April recommended it to me and I hate her for it. Ahhhg.

Ma and Pa informed me there was a bat in the house. Then they left to eat dinner with Rolfe and Alison. Gee, thanks ma and pa. I only saw the bat once, when it was hanging out in the upstairs bathroom. It just was chilling out on the wall. So fuzzy.

Watched some Would I Lie to You and other things. Chris Addison is adorable.

Dad found the bat when it was trying to cuddle up to mom on the bedroom pillows.

Did my laundry. Clothes AND towels. That was much needing to be done.

Now to scan and queue some portraits.

all for one, one for Mads Mikkelsen

Today was actually a sleep in day! Which I did.

Had a little breakfast. Dad was off getting a root canal. Mom was...I forget what mom was doing.

For lunch I made a sandwich and mom had soup and we watched the first two episodes of Downton Abbey. I forgot how unsympathetic Mary is at the start. She takes some getting used to, but having semi unsympathic characters makes for an interesting cast. Anyway, it was a rainy day. Perfect for watching period costume dramas starring Maggie Smith. We finished the second episode right as dad came home. His mouth was a bit numb but all in all, it went well it seems.

Later on we finally finished carving our pumpkins. I cooked up ground turkey and we had really delicious burritos for dinner. Mmm! And we have enough meat left over for a scramble tomorrow. Now THAT is a reason to get out of bed early for (will I?).

We went to see the new adaptation of The Three Musketeers. It was fun. I would have liked to have sat closer to the screen to fully embrace the 3D, but ma isn't down with that. The teen girls in the theater next door watching Paranormal Activity 3 screamed multiple times during their screening. Anyway, Three Musketeers was good. Was it phenomenal? Ahh. Nah. But it had some awesome actors (Matthew MacFadyen, Mads Mikkelsen, Milla Jovovich) and some neat sequences and airship battles and the return of Orlando Bloom. I think it could have been a bit longer and had more sword fighting, but can't have everything.

Dad is off to work later on this week. Gotta get working on my Illustrator midterm.

and then I did this and then I did that and then I did nothing

For a second I thought it was Friday and that I hadn't done anything today. Then I remembered that it was Thursday and that I slept way in and had a small breakfast and went to class and learned about perspective in film and more shot composition stuff and I ate some candy and then I got some gas and then I went home and didn't eat for a bit and then I ate some salad and watched some stuff, because that is what I do, and I worked on how I might structure a resume in comic form and I ate some chicken and rice and watched some Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and I thought about what needs to be done this weekend and I snacked on cookies.

Now I think I'll get to bed, as I've had too bad of sleeping habits lately.

holy ageism batman!

Just going to get up these next two portraits and tuck in to bed. I'm so bad about regular sleep times. I just start painting and then it is hours later.

Had a good productive Illustrator class. Learned about scatter brushes and art brushes and all that jazz. Drank a thermos full of tea, which went right through me. Oh, dad made pancakes. Mmm!

I reached my breaking point in Flash. When the teacher reprimanded me for not having everything in my library in folders, I defended myself in saying that I ordered it in a system that made sense to me. And she came back at me with some talk about working with others, which I explained I had done and my system has always worked. Then she asked me how old I was, because a young person could never have a grasp on collaboration or contemporary technology. Ageist. Totally ageist. I don't have gray in my hair so I must not have a clue. I think my seething rage was palpable, but I continued to defend my practices. I'm not some clueless 18 year old. I've been to college. I've used Illustrator, Photoshop, iMovie, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Dragon, iStopMotion, and InDesign to name a few. I've etched litho stones and etched plates. I've stretched screens and printed for hours on end. I've printed using all sorts of settings. I've collaborated with artists, I've been professionally commissioned. I've won an award and been in some shows. I'm not some clueless 18 year old, and to be treated as such pissed me majorly off. I'm good with programs. I'm good at learning. Many others my age have produced more, but I have still done a varied amount of things, many of which I am proud of. To be put down because of my age. That is not right. For her to assume so little of a student because they are in their 20's, what kind of a teacher is that?

The critique was a mess, few knew what was supposed to be done. Uhhhgg.

Drove home quite content that I defended myself. I worked in a way that made sense to me, and I've worked with others in a pretty good way these past years. I will not let myself be put down because someone assumes I have not been capable of what I have done because of my age.

Had soup for dinner. Watched Starter for 10 with mom. It was okay. Had some cute performances but wasn't anything stellar. It just lacked...something more. Did two portraits. Now to scan them. Thankfully I don't have to roll out of bed too early tomorrow. And then it is the weekend!

base coat, mauve, gold, top coat

Oh boy! Film directing! Sleep in a bit day! All though not too much, because I had to do the homework that I didn't do all weekend, the homework that was the take home exam. But that didn't take too long.

Got to class on time. For the first chunk of class, we went over lectures in TV versus Film and visual storytelling. Break. Then we graded the tests. I flubbed a couple (never should have trusted my instinct) but oh well. I have a degree, having a not 4.0 at Olympic College (something I don't have anyway) doesn't really matter. I like these classes, they just don't have any weight on my soul.

After class, I spent the next couple hours in the Video Club. Talked to Rufus and Cammy and this dude who hit on me a little bit and Angelo and....I forget the rest of their names. The guy who was supposed to show us the camera left, but we still got to fiddle with it a little bit. I'm not sure how enthusiastic I am for the club, but I'll come to the next meeting. But if that guy continues to hit on me, eehhh. Anyway, after that I went to the studio and worked on my Illustrator stuff for two hours. Then I got some Jack in the Box on the way home. Starving!

Ma and Pa were watching Incredibles. I watched my own stuff. Tomorrow is a work day of sorts I think. Better get to bed soon. Oh, redid my nails. My light mauve nail polish color is turning a bit goopy.

Oh what an exciting life I lead.

don't let teachers get in the way of your education

Ohh the tiredness just caught up with me.

Got up a bit earlier with the intention to go to school earlier, so that I could start working on my Flash animation. Mom and Dad made me a lovely lunch, though it was mostly mom. Finished up The Hobbit on the way to school. Drank heartily of my thermos of tea. In Illustrator we were taught about layers and clipping paths, and the teacher showed me how to make the type face I'm working on look really swell. He is a great teacher. Give him full marks! Always gives timely feedback. Got my assignment that is due in a week mostly done in class. I'm on top of things! So on top of things. The midterm has a lot of elements, so I'll be wanting to spend a lot of time working on that.

In Flash the teacher didn't show up for whatever reason, so we had a really productive day! Except for the person who drove an hour to get to class. He was mad. Anyway, looked up some tutorials and got to assembling my animation. I know so little of the program, I can't make art with it. I feel so ashamed. I can do better, if only I know!

Left at around 4:30ish. Returned the tapes to the library. Went home. Came home to an empty house (ma and pa went to the movies). Watched telly. Relaxed. Ate some soup later on. Made a necklace. Next audio book: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Tomorrow I'll be at school working on the animation and finishing up the Illustrator assignment. Love those studios (the computers do work fairly well).

magical mistress mis..cat...something

Slept a bit too much in (turned my alarm off). Had about 20 minutes between breakfast and having to head out the door, so I knew the portrait for today wouldn't get drawn till later.

Had a tea/granola bar/cheerio's breakfast. Mmm! Worked on some macrame on the way. Ma and I stopped by the recycling center to deposit some recycling. Then we went to pick up Mom's friend Roberta. Roberta's husband showed us his garage full of really nice classic cars. Mostly Grahams. So lovely. So nice.

Then we were off to Bainbridge Island to see a production of Cats! We arrived at 2:15ish at the theater. We checked out the little museum nearby, but not for long. Before the show we had some M&Ms and root beer, and then it was time to get to our seats. Roberta was apart from us because she bought tickets separately. Ma and I were in the center, but near the back. Still, a very good spot. It was a fun performance! I liked the pirate scene addition, and there were some very talented singers. Cats is a very accessible musical for children. They even had face painting, but I couldn't convince mom to do it.

It was a beautiful impending fall day. We dropped Roberta off at her place. I got right on with my portrait, but stopped to eat a lovely burger for dinner. Mmm!

My portrait came up quite late, but I am pleased with it. I did three more and watched Walking Dead, Wallander, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and Dexter while I was at it. Now I need to scan and queue those up and then I can go to sleep. FUhh not looking forward to Flash tomorrow. I'll bring my headphones and listen to tutorials. I hope it is just open lab so that we won't have to sacrifice our learning for the sake of looking like we are listening to her.

baby aunties birthday

Another sleeping in day. Dad made some eggs and bacon for me. Mmm. Yum!

Went to Michael's to pick up some macrame supplies. Worked on some macrame at home. Yay necklaces!

Threw on my red dress, and a jacket Brynne gave me, put my best makeup on, and got ready to head out for Brynne's 50th Birthday Party. Headed out of the house at around 5pm. Worked on my macrame as we waited for Celia at Safeway. She was meeting us there so only one car was needed in Orting. It was a further hour and a half to get to Orting, where Auntie Brynne's shindig was. There were some crazy directions but we made it!

There were many familiar faces, Dave, Dan, Josh, Linda, and many people who were familiar with me who I didn't know. Had some wine. Had some chips. Chatted. Kept my coat on, because I was cold with my bare legs. The house had a taxidermy room. A crazy taxidermy room. With some endangered animals. Porcupine. Zebra skin rug. Buffalo head. Lots of various deer heads. LOTS! I was amazed and horrified and just...dang.

Dinner was amazing. The lamb was so moist I could cut it with my spoon. The chicken pie was delicious. It was all delicious. Brynne was jovial and bounced from person to person all around the party. Talked to bunches of people. Didn't have any pie, but did have cookies. It was a fun party. Lots of neat people and good conversation. Got plenty of compliments, which is always nice.

Celia drove us to the Safeway parking lot, which was nice. I dozed a bit, but woke up when I got home and now it is late. Have to do some portraits tomorrow and then Cats!

lab time

Friday! A day to sleep in. Which I did. Ahhh. Had a strudel for breakfast with some tea. Watched Community with dad later on in the day. Pop made a delicious burger for lunch.

Then I headed to school to work on my homework. Got the illustration stuff all finished. I am slowly getting it, though remember where certain things are is tricky. Then I live traced the type I designed for Odd Owl. I'm not quite sure how to smooth out the text right now, or if I should trace the text with the pen tool. It is a bit uneven and I want it to be crisper. Then spent an hour trying to find good Flash tutorials. Teacher is so lame at teaching. Uhg. I'm a good, quick, intuitive learner. And I am familiar with tons of programs. It shows how backwards she is that I can't even follow her tutelage. Fuh!

Got home at around 9pm. Watched Fringe. Ate some left overs. Think I'll go to bed now. Got a big day tomorrow. Lots of stuff to do and all that.
