pack it in, pack it out

My legs hurt! Been standing on them, and straining against them as I haul all these things around. I laid out all my clothes in neat little piles on the bed. Did a load of laundry as well. All my clothes are clean and ready to go. I think I did a pretty good job editing it down. I could probably do with even less clothes...I'm going to try and wear dresses more often. Biking around really limited my wardrobe to pants, so now that I'm driving, I'm going to try and dress a little better. Ahhh I'm tired. This will probably be a rather rambling entry.

My clothes are packed into a suitcase and a plastic tub. The jackets, shoes, socks, undies, and scarfs are separate. I'm not sure how warm/cold to pack. I am headed south, yeah, but I know San Francisco gets the ocean winds in. Well, I can always pass things back off onto Mom and Dad if they visit in the motorhome. It's really just a couple coats, which are always good to have.

I selected seven paperbacks and seven art books to bring with me. Books I can reasonably read, and not just let them collect dust.

Need to find my bike helmet.

The things that are left art my makeup, hair stuff, art supplies, and computer related stuff. Not so bad. I want to leave before Mom leaves tomorrow. So before 11. Leaving super early is only really if I plan to do it in one shot. I think I might find a motel in Medford, or right over the border. Get through most of Oregon. I'll see how I feel. I'm pretty tired right now, so I think I'll go to bed and finish up in the morning. GOODNESS, I leave tomorrow! It seems so sudden, though I've been in Seabeck for 10 months. I haven't done nothing in this time, but it has been a long while.

Time to get a job and get a life and do things and have fun.

Finished Bron/Broen. Quite sad. Good drama.

Oh, went into town and dropped off some stuff at Goodwill. I think I won't have a problem fitting the stuff into the Prius.

AHHHHHHHHH!!! Tomorrow, I leaaave. Holy cow!

about to roll out

Uh oh, I'm starting to stay up late again. Not good. I'm sitting in the computer room/guest bedroom. I got a tablet. A Wacom Bamboo Create. The small Intuos was discontinued, but the Create came with the same programs, and has a larger drawing space, so that is good. Also, when using a dual monitor set up, having the larger tablet is good, because the mouse space corresponds to both screens. A smaller tablet may not extend so freely. Anyway, I've been playing with the tablet, figuring out the programs. Adobe Photoshop Elements sucks though. Really not good. But Gimp has been working out.

I spent the day sorting through things. I tried on a bunch of clothes, and was amazed at how many of them fit better than they once did. I lost weight, even though I'm softer in the chin in stomach. Weird. Anyway, tried on clothes. And went through my very last bucket of stuff. Then I sorted the tubs and took the tubs to the space over the garage. Tomorrow I will finalize all my clothing selections, take a final trip to Goodwill, wash my clothes, and then take things back up to the cabin for long term storage. Art supplies, technology, clothes, some art, cooking implements. This is what I shall bring. Oh and check book and bike helmet and toiletries and things...tomorrow I pack it up. Day after tomorrow I leave.

HOLY CRAP.

Anyway. Lots of sorting. Getting on with it I am I am.

...I should at least plan

Game of Thrones premiered tonight! So excited! It was so good! I need more exclamation marks: !!!!!!!!!!. There. That should about do it.

I put away all my books and went through all the boxes in the minibarn. I still can't find my rice cooker. Put away my magazines as well. Missing some issues, but no biggie. They'll turn up in this house.

I'm down to one bin in the cabin to sort through. Found my favorite shoes. So I need to go through that last bin, as well as organize the stuff that is laying out and unsorted. I still haven't tried on the clothes. Two days.

Dad has gone again.

It was legitimately sunny, though not warm.

I took down my wheely plastic thingy, which will make for a good movable storage thing.

It is nice to have my books put away, though they are in a horrible order. I should rethink the whole have read/reading/haven't read system, but oh well. Maybe the seemingly unintelligible system will keep mom's hands off my books. She bends books.

Not the most productive day, but I did do some good things. Do I want to over plan and potentially over pack? Or under plan and pack in a hurry and forget things that I probably won't need?

SUBWAY!

Went through many more boxes in the cabin, still have another large bin to go through and several smaller boxes. I've pulled out a lot of things that I want, but now I need containers to put THOSE things in. I need to pull out the containers that I'm moving with. Get an idea of how much I'm going to try and fit into my car. Might bring the chest Dad made. Maybe that red Ikea bookshelf, as it is very lightweight and it would be good to have an easily movable shelf. Suitcase, for when I crash at people's place. Three days to pack up. I should leave the fourth to allow ample time to get there in time for the concert. Now the pressure is on. Though I think I've been saying that it is on for a while now.

Sorting through things, it really hit that I should have sorted through this stuff MONTHS ago. So many great little things. I should have taken the time to sift through it, lord knows I've had plenty of time.

I've been fighting a pounding headache, and I don't know what caused it. All I know is that I can't find any Advil ANYWHERE. Tons of allergy and cold & flu remedies, no general painkillers.

We ordered Seabeck Pizza for dinner, watched Community, and I scarfed down three slices. Good episode.

Dad is leaving for work tomorrow, so it will just be me and Ma these last couple days.

Dad showed me whats what under the bonnet, and where the spare tire is.

I ironed on some patches onto my vest. Smokey Bear, Timberline Lodge, and Kolb Studio specifically. I put one on, but then removed it as per not wanting to start a family feud. The vest is off to a good start. Now I have to add to it! I'm very specific about patches though. Don't want to stick any old patch on it.

I'm almost done watching Real Humans. I don't want to be done! It is so good!

Tomorrow I'll...I'll get a few steps closer. I need to get more motivated, earlier in the day. My library needs to be fully put away. Magazines need to be put in their magazine holder. I need to try on clothes for how they fit, and sort through the clothes I have in the drawer. I should also decoupage my chest of drawers, as I've dug up more show cards to add to it. Those all sound quite doable. I slept in today, I'll set my alarm for earlier tomorrow.

I also need to be wary, as it is April Fool's Day, and I am quite trusting.

vest for my patches, bag for my things

Quickly shifted through the box containing the last bit of clothes to organize. I removed the obvious "no way am I going to wear that" things, and topped off my Goodwill donations. Breakfast was two cups of tea and an egg. I always steep a bag twice. A strong cup with two sugars, and a weak not sweetened cup. I have a way about doing my tea. Yup.

Ma and I went to Doctor Houck's office in Silverdale. I have a bicuspid heart valve, so I need to get it checked up every half decade or so. And now is the time for a check up, as I haven't done so since pre-college era Trillian (also known as pre-Blog era). But some of my records didn't transfer over, so today's visit was just a preliminary one to establish myself, and get my heart listened to. Doctor Robin was very nice, and his office featured his own nature photography, which I liked. He also has great taste in shoes. Tomorrow at 10am, I have to go in for an EKG.

It rained pretty much all day. Pacific Northwest standard. Bleh. I can't find my Romeos, aka my favorite brown shoes. They are not so much summer shoes, so I didn't wear them during the summer, and I didn't pull them out of my boxes when I unpacked my winter clothes. Now I want them for when I move out. Need to go through everythiiing. I'll sort through the rest of my boxes tomorrow. That will be my major thing, and set aside what I want to move with. Start collecting items to pack for the move. Eeeee. So close! It is coming.

After the appointment, Ma and I went to Goodwill. We dropped off a ton of stuff, and then went in to procure more things! VHS tapes were only fifty cents, so we picked up some good titles like Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Fifth Element, and I forget the other ones. I found a great red sort of peacoat, a denim jacket for my patches, and an Italian (it says Italian) leather satchel. I need a proper satchel, and there it was! Huzzah. Ma got some scarves and seeds. A very fruitful trip indeed. We ate some McDonalds. So much McDonalds has been consumed this past month. Then we drove on in the rain to pick up a prescription in Poulsbo, then it was back home!

Dad consumed left overs and then left for this shellfish talk thing. I chilled on the Internet and removed the sleeves from my new jean jacket. Going to turn it into a patch vest. So cool. Gotta get up early tomorrow. If I have enough time, maybe I'll iron on those patches and wear my vest. I am way excited for my satchel as well. It has a shoulder strap AND a handle. Kinda the perfect bag.

I've got less than a week if I want to get to that concert. Having a deadline that is super motivating. GET ON WITH IT TRILLIAN, GO GO GO.

lolly gagging

Ending up deciding to go to Goodwill tomorrow, and combine it with my doctor's visit. Gas is expensive, best not to waste trips, eh?

Sorted through the last of my clothes in the cabin, and then hauled up another box to sort. Still need to hang up my jackets, and try on some of the clothes. Some things are keepers, but I need to see if they fit, ya know? Sorting and sorting and sorting. But it is good to do. A bit cathartic.

Watched telly. Listened to music. Ma and I watched the first half of The Red Shoes. Dinner was pasta. I drew a bit too. Nothing too fancy, and I broke a nib whilst doing it. Ooooohhhh, I need to work on Nate's painting still!! Maybe I'll work on that tomorrow night.

Time is running short. The month is almost up. I need to get to the Bay Area pronto. Do some major sit down and get shit done sessions.

so that is where that shirt went...

I forget if I dropped something on my toe, or if I stubbed it, but something happened. Also with my short trimmed nails, it sucks to pick things up or tug at this and that.

Got up relatively early as well. Still hasn't registered that I can sleep in, but I got stuff to do now! I worked on sorting my clothes. I found my pea coat. I sorted my shirts from my dresses. I have a bucket of good clothes, the keepers. I have clothes that are good but I for sure don't need them right now (heavy coats). I have a Goodwill pile. I have a bunch of clothes that need to be tried on to see how they fit, because if they do or don't is the decider if I keep them. I'm trying to move with not so many clothes, just to make it minimal and nice. But I still want to sort through so that my secondary clothes are on hand for if and when I get settled.

Tomorrow I'll finish the clothes sorting. I need to sort the clothes in my bedroom as well. Then I'll make a Goodwill run. I can only fit so much in my car, and I don't want to pack it to full.

Spent the day chilling at home. Dad made burgers for lunch, and his salmon specialty for dinner.

Raising Hope was a bit odd. I'm getting caught up on Justified. I like to watch a couple episodes at a time. Such a good show, with a stellar cast. So much swagger.

tahoma

Set my alarm, though I still woke up before it. Still on vacation time. Tomorrow will be the first full day at home. Need to make myself a list of to dos for tomorrow. Sort through my clothes in the bins. Email people for references. Edit my resumes. That sounds good. I can listen to an audiobook while sorting through clothes. Gotta make a Goodwill run. Have way too much stuff that I don't wear.

Anyway, at 11:20ish, Ma and I went to the recycling center and dropped off the cardboard and plastic and other recyclables.

At noon, we met Dad, Joyce, and Grandma at the Safeway, and we carpooled in the van to the cemetery for Grandpa Spencer's interment. It is a set system in how they do it at the Veteran's Cemetery. You wait in a queue and then they take you to a little memorial area when your time arrives. Very time coordinated, which is rather sad when you think about it. So many Veteran's in need of memorials, at half hour increments. And looking at the name plates, some people were so young. Scotty and Scott and Dick arrived, and that rounded out our little cadre. The flag was folded and unfolded. There was a five gun salute, and we were given the shells. A Veteran read some passages, and finally Grandpa's ashes were placed in their space behind a slab of marble. It was a brisk March Monday.

J, J, D, GM, L, & T went to Rock Pizza afterwards. Ma and I shared a pizza and both had a tasty porter. Grandma's BLT was a bit salty. We chatted in good spirits about this and that.

Sometimes I think about the conversations I've had, and I can't remember what we all talked about. I remember talking, but about what? This thought extends to many conversations, not just today. Hmmn. I also have pretty bad memory. Thankfully this blog keeps it all in order.

Dick went back whence he came, Joyce made a Sally's Beauty Supply Perm Hair Rollers run, and I got some small bobby pins. There was some napping on the way back to where we left the car in Silverdale. Dad, the driver, didn't nap.

The carpool split up. Ma and I bought hair dye and aquaphore at Walgreen's. At home we settled in for some relaxing. I dyed my hair. The color is called Raspberry Truffle aka Soft Mahogany Dark Brown. The "fancy" name and the "sort of describes what the color actually is" name. It is a little bit darker than I expected it to be, but maybe that is because I haven't had my hair this dark since I was a teenager. I've been doing the medium brown/auburn thing, so now this is a lovely dark auburn. I really like it though. I'll put up a picture when I can get a good daylight photo. Got a new look for a new locale, I just need to move there already.

I like Harry Crane's new spectacles

Slept in, even though Grandma, Dad, and Mom were downstairs enjoying scones. That is how much I enjoy sleeping in! But get up I did, and enjoy scones I did. Three scones and two cups of tea. MMm breakfast.

I doodled around on the Internet for a while. Then I helped clean the motorhome. Got a hot soapy bucket of water and got on the roof and scrubbed. It wasn't so much dirty as a bit moldy and groady. I also scrubbed the back of it, but not the sides or front. It took three hours just to scrub that! It looks so much better now, though the sides need their cleaning. I'll do that on the next Mats Mats visit.

Joyce came back from clam digging. She was quite victorious with her clam acquirement, even at the loss of a clam gun. We gave her some chocolates, because Auntie Joyce is awesome.

Ma, Holly, and I returned to Seabeck. Dad followed a bit later. We relaxed, we hot tubbed, and then we went to town to see The Hunger Games. Yay Katniss firing arrows and things! It was overly shaky cam for some scenes. Totally unnecessary. That filming technique needs to end. Anyway, it was good. Well cast, great costumes and sets, I agree with Mom that Sutherland wasn't quite creepy enough as Snow. But that is coming. The trilogy will be huuuge. We got back late, and Ma and Pa went to bed. Now I am watching the Mad Men premier. Ahhhh, so good!

spring is here, sorta

Chilling at Grandma's house in Mats Mats. Using their computer for my Internet needs. Not so bad. Woke up at 8am and got up at 9. Still on vacation time. Had some toast and tea, packed my bag up, Mom loaded Holly into the car, and vroom off we went across the water. It was a sunny day, even a bit warm. Grandma was sleeping when we arrived. I showed Pa a slide show of our trip, and we ate chocolate. Grandma got up and had her breakfast and also watched a slide show. Then she took a nap. We went outside, and did outside things. I read a bit.

Dinner was pasta with white sauce and shrimp, and a side of broccoli. It was tasty. Afterwards we watched telly. Dad managed to show Grandma the Gogo Yubari bit of Kill Bill. Oy vey. We finished up National Lampoon's Family Vacation and I cuddled with Holly doggy during the first bit of O Brother Where Art Thou.

Tomorrow I might hang around and watch the Mad Men premier.

Nevada and Arizona, here we come!

And away we go! In three hours...but first the rest of the day.

Slept in decently well. Had some cheerios and tea. Helped Dad wash Holly in the tub. The indoors tub! What a spoiled dog. Now she smells like a clean dog, and is oh so soft to cuddle. Really washing her isn't that bad, and it doesn't take that long. And it makes her such a good dog.

Dad went over to Mats Mats and ran errands.

Mom and I went into town and ran some girly errands. Bought some girly things. Mom got her nails done. Oh so girly! Though we are not "mani pedi" girls. I read a bit of the Cosmo mag that was in the salon, and it just about did my brain in.

Back at home, Ma got to dinner, and I got to packing. Well, I got to laying out clothes. I also folded my laundry. Dinner was burritos. So much guacamole. Tasty stuff. I packed my black bag up real nice, and my back pack as well. I have extra shirts and stuff. Mom's bag is the one with the GPS and guide books and all these other things.

Ma and Pa went to bed at 9, I'm staying up. Having some tea. In a couple hours, we shall drive off. I am the one planning on driving, though mom may object. I'm just not a big napper! I can't just lay my head down at any old hour and conk out.

March Minibreak 2012, whooo!!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Oh Silverdale, you crazy

Didn't work on the drawing today. At all. Errr uhh yeah.

Anyway, got up a bit earlier than usual. Well...10:30ish. I also went to bed a bit earlier. Just didn't feel like staying up all that late watching television. Odd. My habits, they are a changing.

I need to keep from picking at my face, my skin is on another bad flair. Just have to let it be...let it be. My hair roots are also showing, but I think I shall wait it out a bit more before I dye it again. And when I do dye it, I think I'll try to make it closer to my natural boring color. Dying it takes time and effort and my hair grows fast and time moves on so quickly. I've decided to grow out my bangs, and already it seems they are long enough to tuck back and all that.

Anyway, I ran some in town errands. There was a lot of traffic around Anderson Hill Road, and this was because (as I later learned) of someone holding up Key Bank. Egads! So once I got through that bottleneck, I went to the Doctor's Clinic and signed a release of information form for my records. Then I went to the dollar store and got some candy for the impending trip. I also swung by Golden Rule Tattoo & Piercing, but the tattoo artists gave me side eye and the guy working the desk took a while to answer my inquiry about getting my ear re-re-pierced. The douchey attitude of the whole place really put me off. If they want to see my visible tattoo, they better be prepared to get a kick to the face.

Went back home, got stuck in the same traffic for a bit. It was a nice day. Very sunny. I got some dollar store sunglasses to tide me over during the times when my favorite pair are broken. At home I applied gold nail polish to the sides to make them fancy.

We watched Community. YAY COMMUNITY IS BACK! It was a good episode. Not one of the great episodes, but still good to see the awesome gang back. Mom made soup, it was delicious. She also made garlic bread, though some of the pieces were a bit black. Dad went to Mats Mats and helped Grandma out.

Tomorrow I'll have to pack for the trip. I like to leave things till the last minute, though it isn't really last minute. I'll also probably be the one driving us to the airport late at night, so I better sleep extra in tomorrow morning. I think we also plan to wash Holly tomorrow. Mmhmm.

minecraft one

Started working on the Minecraft painting for Nathan. Don't know what I got myself into with this. Hahah. Still, a fun exercise. I don't know if I should draw it all and then paint it, or draw and paint it in quadrants? Hmmn. My feet are cold and the smoke in the house is making not feel all that good.

In regards to the smoke, something is blocked in the fire place, which means the smoke isn't fully exiting, so the house is getting a bit, well, smokey.

And we got a couple more inches of snow. GAAHHH! Though it is slush and is sure not to stick around. Still, totally lame.

Mom has started packing for our minibreak. I'll pack on Friday. I just need clothes, sketching supplies, and my computer. Then I should be good. Oh, and a book. I'll back a book.

next step: resumes

Yaaay! I got my cards printed. And they look pretty good. Just went into the shop, gave them my file, and they were printed and cut in no time at all. Mom, pop, and I all drove into town to run that errand. The new Prius I think is starting to lose its new car smell. While waiting for the cards to be printed, we went and got some bird seed, and then we went to Costo and got lots of nuts. Mom really likes her legumes. But whoooo yay! I have business cards! That is another thing checked off and done and dooooone. It is sort of amazing to think that I am a person with a business card. A card that I would give someone in the hopes that they would need to contact me for business. I have 150 of them. Mmmhmm.

I got up a bit early to run mom in on an errand. We went grocery shopping at Central Marker after and got tons of neat food, because they had an awesome import section. Jammy Dodgers! Yan Yan! Crunchie Bars! And other, healthy things. I swear we got healthy things.

It was snowing when we left this morning, but the snow didn't stick. No we didn't go to Mats Mats either.

Mom and I are going to take a mini break together. Saturday to Friday. Las Vegas (meh) and the Grand Canyon (yay!!). Mom doesn't get much actual time off, so we are going to take advantage of it. Then we'll come back and be at Mats Mats for a while. Let Auntie Joyce have a long overdue break.

We ate dinner at Origami Sushi. Num nummers.

Back at home we watched Paul, which I heard from two people whose opinions I trust very conflicting opinions about. Thankfully we found it delightful! Frost and Pegg have a chemistry together that shines in anything. It was silly and fun. A good Tuesday night movie indeed.

it's business tiiiiime

It snowed! Again! And the lame slushy snow. The inconvenience making snow that keeps you homebound. So we didn't go to Mats Mats. Hopefully it will be melted enough by tomorrow. Got some errands to run.

Worked on my business card. I think I'll just go with the one sided card. Need to get it made. Simple for now, I'll step it up for the next print run.

Made a scramble for breakfast. Mmm. Mom made awesome nachos for early dinner. Yum.

no walkies for doggie, and my back is feeling better

Daylight savings! A time change that doesn't really effect me because I never keep any semblance of regular hours. Dad made us waffles, and they were good.

Was I supposed to get something done today? Because I didn't. I did do some drawing though, so that was good. It is always nice to know I haven't lost my arting ability. It is just dormant. Need to take it out of hibernation.

There were sandwiches for lunch and jambalaya for dinner. I want to leave home, why?

Tomorrow, Dad and I will go up to Mats Mats and clean the motorhome. That is the plan, and since I have written it, it must be so.

Then again, I've been writing that I'll make a business card for days now. I wonder how much postcard mailers are...no! Business card. Do that Trill. Do that. Though maybe I should just get one sided...it would be cheaper. Especially if I order them online (because Kinkos is lame).

fish dress

Was watching Portlandia, and mom said, "I have that dress."

Anyway. I didn't set my alarm clock. Wanted to doze for a while. Dad made poached egg on toast with melted cheese. Yum! We took Holly for a walk and she got quite muddy. My back hurt all day, and my ankle on and off. Holly was well behaved in regards to some other dogs on the trail. She barked once and that was it.

Back at home, I made popcorn and mom and I played mancala. Dinner was polenta and turkey scramble. Quite tasty. I hope theres some turkey left over for a breakfast scramble.

I watched Marwencol. Didn't work on my business card. Whoops.

Friday, March 9, 2012

errands and thinking about expanding my skills

Had a toast and two cups of tea breakfast. Even woke up at a fairly reasonable hour.

Ma, Holly, and I went for walkies at Scenic Beach State Park. It was a nice beach walk, though Holly tried to pull me into the branches. We only saw one other person at the park.

I returned Mom and Holly to Seabeck, and headed into Silverdale to run some errands. I deposited my Bitch Magazine check. Whooo! Now to spend it! Just kidding (not really). I went to Best Buy to look at tablets. I don't have a good one to produce digital art with, and while I am generally a traditional artist I should be well versed with the computer, and be able to do computer art. A mouse, hell the touchpad on my laptop, doesn't cut it. So a tablet would be a good buy in regards to my career and move and all that. So I looked at tablets. Don't know which to buy though. Bamboo Create or Intuous4? I'm leaning toward the Create...or maybe the Capture. Hmmn.

After Best Buy, I went to Kinkos to look at their Business Cards. Even without shipping they cost more than some of the online card companies. And they only have three kinds of paper, none of which I really like. And you have to buy like...250 cards. Ehhh. I think I can do better. Need to design a card first, of course.

On the way home, I swung by Kristen's old place, where my hair straightener and book apparently is. Neither Randy or Anthony could find it though. They'll get back to me about it, I'm sure. I should have been more on the ball a few months ago in regards to my straightener.

Back at home, a salad was waiting for me. We watched a bit of Of Gods and Men, but none of us were feeling it.

Mom is resting and listening to American Gods. It is early in the night for me to blog, but I don't see anything else happening.

Tomorrow I shall lay out my business card. That is my tomorrow goal.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

old stories, new listens

Got up super early, 5:30am!!!, because I had to run errands with mom. Special mum errands. Drank two cups of black tea. Tasty tasty. Got me going. I'm a bit tired now, but I don't feel dead. It is good to be young, eh?

Drove mom around, then headed home. Ma and I spent a good part of the afternoon listening to Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Damn good story. I'm remembering more of it than I thought I would. It has been so many years since I last experienced it.

Hot dog and ramen edibles today. Tomorrow I'll help make a fancy meal.

Finished editing the photos that I have on hand. Time to take more photos. I think my website is just about done.

bonus artwork!

Today's goals, as I wrote on Tumblr, were to finish editing the work I documented. Which I have mostly accomplished. The next goal was to edit my website and put up said work. Which I also accomplished. Then to work on layouts for business card. Which I didn't quite accomplish. And also Laundry which, oh crap I have my third load in the dryer still. Oops.

Anyway, editing took a while but I got it edited. Listened to American Gods. Such a good story. Listened to Odd Owl. Such a good band.

I snacked all day so I wasn't hungry in time for dinner. Tomorrow we'll make a nice dinner.

Have to get up early to drive Mom to an appointment.

I think I can finally take my website off its "under construction" status. It is pretty well formed, and I am happy with it. It just needs MORE work. Lots more. Fill it up with art. I do like the way the art sits in the website though.

Now I need to move on to my resumes. Get those looking spiffy. It is all starting to take shape once again. I was out of the game for a while, but now my focus is narrowing. The beginning is nigh!

But now to go and sort my laundry. And listen to more stuff. And try to sleep, even though I probably had green tea too late in the day. Hmmmn.
