onk kronk

Monday:

I slept in as long as possible, and packed with no minutes to spare. But it all got in the car and at 11am off we departed for the great North. It was sunny and warm and the traffic was good. Just past Sacramento we stopped at the Colusa Wildlife Refuge Place, and spent two hours counting birds and peeping through scopes. There was a bird with a barfing dog type bird. Dad snapped some good pics. Onwards we drove. I read Seconds and had The Chambers of Secrets going on the radio. We stopped for the night in Mt. Shasta. A little motel room. Very little. Not much room. Room for two beds. We had dinner at Lily's. I had pasta, Dad had steak, Mom had beet salad. It was all tasty and filling and good to eat after such a long journey (I had a gas station hot dog earlier).

Dozed to sleep.

Tuesday:

Left earlier than the latest allowed by the motel. More Harry Potter. No nature reserves. We stopped for lunch in Eugene. Specifically at Ninkasi Brewing, where the tasting room allows you to bring in outside food. So Ma and Pa got some quesedillas and I got a taster assortment and got to tasting. None would be my favorite beers (not like Sleigh'r) but it was fun to have that sampling. And it aided in me taking a good ol' nap after Eugene. We finished Chamber of Secrets. We listened to other things. It rained when we got into Washington, but it cleared up enough for us to get burgers at Big Bubba's in Allyn. After that break, it was home! Unpacked. Put on jammies. I went to bed and started watching stuff till late o'clock, then I slept.

Wednesday:

Breakfast included hash browns, bacon, toast, and eggs. Mmm. I interneted for a while, then packed up to go home. I left my blanket though. Boo.

My house wasn't as cold as I expected it to be. I unloaded my car. I'm about 90% unpacked right now. I lounged. I nibbled. I relaxed. I tried to relax.

Lots of stuff going on in my life right now that I can't get into on my blog.

Helen & Nathan

Friday

Ma and Pa went to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and I opted out to have some me time. I put on a dress and grabbed the AirBNB free pass to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I took the buss, the Jazz B line, downtown. Easy peasy. The aquarium had clusters of school kids on a field trip, but it was nicely not packed. All the kids were well behaved. No runners or screamers. I could take my time with the exhibits. Had a wonderful time. I saw the otters get fed, saw the puffins get fed, saw the penguins get fed. Saw many jellyfish, which are my favorite exhibits in aquariums, and cuttlefish, and a hammerhead shark in the big open sea tank. Very nice! I had lunch in the aquarium. Ma and Pa picked me up from the front (after I helped people take many photos) and we got ice cream, and then headed out to see cousin Annie and Paul at their hotel. We had drinks in the hotel bistro and caught up.

Then it was back to the hotel to get some rest before the big day!

Saturday

The wedding! The big day! We had our little breakfasts and I took my time getting all lathered up and spackled and false eyelashed. I put my hair up and then took it down. Put on my pretty dress and shoes and then off we went!

To Wendy's! Because dinner wouldn't be for a while. Then up into the hills to the ranch for the wedding. We got there early because we were part of the procession. Hung out in the games room with the groomsmen and the groom, who looked swell. People arrived. Family. Ben, Erin, Muchim, Averie, Dan, Brynne, Celia, Annie, Paul, Carmen, Josh... New family too! Janet! A new Janet in the family. I walked down behind Nate and Ma and Pa with Ben and sat in the front row. It was a nice, quick ceremony. OH! I also was the witness to the marriage signing thing. So that's nice and official.

So the ceremony was nice. Helen cried and Nathan held the tissues for her. Then they were married! Whoooo!!

Photos happened during cocktail hour. I was in a few of them, then I went to join the rabble and drank some lemonade and a glass of wine and talk to this person and that person. The weather was perfect. Warm, with a minor breeze. It cooled down in the evening. Dinner was consumed at a long table, with plates going back and forth. The Carmen and Josh way. I had a bit of everything. Yum! I was seated between Carmen and Garth and across from Nate and Helen, so a prime location indeed. I ate and chatted and the dance floor was opened up, as was the donut machine!!! I had several and they were very good. Fresh, hot, sprinkles. Mmm! I played large jenga, danced a little bit.

The night wore on and I opted to go hang with Garth, Danny, Mike, and Sarah after the shindig, but the drive down left me sick and I ended up just crashing at their AirBNB instead. Oops. Oh well.

Sunday:

Called Ma and Pa and they came and picked me up (an alternate driver wouldn't have been available for a while, and Ma had tickets to this birdwatching kayak tour on the Elkhorn Slough. So I groggily showered back at the place and off we went!

I was tired but it was a wonderful trip. It was just us and the guide, Rachel, out on the water. Ma and Pa had their kayak, and Rachel and I had our own. Oh! And we had wetsuits as part of the tour, so that was nice. I was very cozy and snug. We saw Bonaparte Gulls and and Oystercatcher and a batray, well the fins of a batray, which was very cool! And otters and seals and sail jellies and lots more birds that Mom is better versed on than I. The weather was good. A bit of sun, a bit of shade. No rain. I eventually felt less groggy, though I was looking forward to a nap.

After the tour, we returned to the house and took naps. I stayed behind and vegged and watched TV and got caught up on the internet. Mom and Dad brought back chicken, artichoke, anchovie pizza. I'm not keen on fishies on pizza.

Tomorrow we head back. It was a lovely wedding. Only happy tears.

or(egon) is it???

4/15/2015, 9pm

In Dunsmuir, California! Arrived at 4:15ish after leaving Eugene, Oregon at 11:30ish. Not… a tasking day’s drive. I was brought a doughnut to start the day. We walked around a bit, then checked out of the hotel, and went to Brail’s and got breakfast. I got the breakfast sandwich and a pig in a blanket and coffee and it was all very tasty. I want to hit up Ninkasi on the way back.

We listened to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as read by Jim Dale, who mispronounced bezoar as “be-zshwah”. WRONG!!

I got an Arizona iced tea and some candy and that kept me content. We had an early dinner/late lunch in our Train Car Room in Dunsmuir. This hotel is made of converted train cars. About 20 or so of them. Each car is a room with beds and stuff. Ours is a Queen and a Twin. It’s fun, though not really extremely train like on the interior, but I guess people don’t really want to sleep in sleeper cars.

After settling in and eating we drove up to Castle Crags State Park and checked out the view point. And looked at the Botanic Gardens in Dunsmuir. Then back to the car. I used the wifi outside (it doesn’t work inside) and I came inside to type this up. Got a longer drive ahead of us tomorrow, but we don’t have to check in till 6pm, so not a big hurry.

4/16/2015 10:30pm

Seaside, California! So not totally Carmel or Carmel by the Sea or Monterey like I initially thought. Oh well oh well. It’s still a nice, spacious Air BNB room, with two bedrooms and stuff. Much more privacy than a hotel.

A rather uneventful, if long, drive down. We finished Harry Potter. It got warm and warmer. There really is no rain here. Poor drought ridden California. Lake Shasta doesn’t look good at all. There is a significant orange band around it. How long ago were we here? Did I note how low it looked? Did I note it looking down at all?

I stayed in while Ma and Pa got food. Watched TV. Mellowed. Tomorrow Ma and Pa will do wedding stuff. I think I’ll mellow apart and do some reading or whatever. I’m tired.

Where will I be at 300k?

I'm in a hotel room in Eugene, Oregon. Which isn't that far along driving wise...but Ma likes to take breaks. She isn't a long haul driver when it comes to being out of the MoHo.

Got out of bed at eightish. Showered. Packed. Took out the compost. Made coffee. Left at about 9:10ish. Pulled over to get a shot of my car's odometer when it rolled over to sweet, sweet 250,000 miles! Booyah!

I thought I was running late, but Dad was making lunch and no one was in much of a hurry. We had an easy departure. Filled up the tank. Headed south. Drove around Portland. Went to the Something Slough Wildlife Refuge and looked at birds and did a bit of a hike and had snacks. I napped. We got into Eugene at 7, had ramen at Toshi's Ramen, which was VERY tasty ramen indeed. Good broth.

We are at a motel in the heart of downtown. I walked around a bit and took some pictures and also desperately sought my own space. Can only take so much Ma and Pa, love them as I do.

A little bit more driving tomorrow. We are in no hurry at all.

cavorting and cashing out

Enjoying a nice Ballast Point Sculpin IPA as I take a break from packing. I am absolutely overpacking, but I want to look my best and I'm not sure what functions to pack for. Shirts, dresses, tights...etc.

And I have laundry drying so I have to fold that.

I ran errands today, whoo! I went to the library and dropped off books and picked up The Martian and Horologicon, I went into Silverdale and swung by Kohl's and picked up a few specific brand beauty brushes and there was a cute purse that won me over. White, turquoise, and tan. I needed a nice smallish purse. I'm pretty stoked on it. Nice to have something a bit less cumbersome than the striped tote I've been lugging about.

There was a perusal of the registry at Macy's, but only the toaster remained unbought so I opted out. I did get some Lenox travel mugs. Give one to Ma as a present. Made a Bevmo trip. Then went to Bremerton and picked up the contents of my comic box (Southern Cross, Help Us Great Warrior, Lumberjanes). Then into Port Orchard to get the matching Tiger's Eye stud. Now my earrings match!

I cruised back to Silverdale and made a Target run for hair ties and candy, then went to Silver City Brewery to meet Aaron for dinner. Originally we were going to meet at Hakata, but that place is closed on Sunday and Monday. I had the chai cider which was DELICIOUS and mahi mahi tacos. Aaron had a different fish dish and the porter. We chatted long and it was very nice. I like him.

Got back. Started laundry. Started packing. Makeup took some packing up. Bringing a lot with me, but I want to have all my tools at my disposal.

Full busy day. All I gotta do is roll out of bed, pack my car, and head to Seabeck. Then it's days in the van. Then the wedding!

slapdash lipstick

Saturday:

Slept in and did some at home stuff doing ebay listings and whatnot. It was a rainy day, perfect for being inside. Or was that Friday? Watched some of the new Daredevil show. Ate popcorn. Did a bit of laundry.

Sunday:

Slept in the smaller bed. It's much cozier. The big bed is so...big. And I'm so wee.

Did a bit more work. Did a lot more slouching about. Did a makeup practice:

And took out my earrings to try on others. The new piercing might need a bit more time (though it's well past the heal by date, though I did catch it a few times on my hair ouch!!). I think I'll pick up a matching one tomorrow, and keep those studs in most of the time. Good bye silver hoop! You've served me well but you are much too difficult to put in and out on a regular basis.

Tomorrow I do my last run of shopping for things. My skins been weird so hopefully that clears up!

Almost wedding time!

BIG TIME I TELLS YA

Hey! I'm blogging on the night of the day! And I'm not like summing up a few days. Go me!

So I did a lot of data entry today. Work from home. Entering this into that. Listened to bunches of podcasts. Pretty chill day, and it was sopping wet so perfect for doing home stuff.

Had pasta and a scramble and cookies. Not all at once. I put a few books on hold at the library. Plan on picking them up before I head out for California. I need to write out an official what to bring list, and see what last shopping I need to do.

I picked up two tickets to see Emily Heller in Seattle on May 16th! Going to see her with Chris, who I'm long overdue for a meet up and chit chat. I haven't seen any stand up, outside of an open mic, so I'm stoked for that. This is a full set, so that's something. And I tweeted about getting the tickets and Emily Heller retweeted me! Big time!

But yeah, I gotta get out of the house more and go do stuff. So I'm doing that!

solstice, that is the color

Well my Internet is down, so I can’t upload…so I’ll just write up three days worth of posts and post it hopefully on Thursday.

Monday

Worked from home doing work from home stuff. Edited photos. Edited online stuff. I’ve been watching Fresh Off The Boat, which is pretty cute.

Tuesday

Worked on site! Helped pack things, and organize, and photograph, and also discussed business strategems. Boss treated me to lunch out, and we both had the eggs benedict but consumed in very different manners. And my government check went through so now I have sweet, sweet moolah!

Afterwork I did some shopping in Silverdale. I went to Sephora to see if they had this eyeshadow (this shining blue/brown color) but they didn’t have it (also I need to make sure it was an Urban Decay brand of eye shadow, it may not have been). On the way to Sephora, I walked through JC Penney and there was this CUTE pineapple pattern dress, and I tried it on and it fit and it looks so cute. It’s a great length, it’s not dry clean only. Love it, bought it. Oh and it was on sale.

A Target run later, I went to see It Follows at the Regal in Poulsbo. It was a horror movie, more atmospheric then gore slasher type stuff. I’d heard good buzz, so why not? It was indeed freaky and had some great camera work and excellent plinky plonky music. If you want a horror movie, watch this one! And I was only a little bit scared walking back to my
house…home….alone.

Wednesday

Internet was down all day! Well it came back when I did a bunch of resets, but only for a few minutes then it went away again. Harumpf! So I watched what TV I had, ate pasta, listened to podcasts, edited photos for work, and negotiated with Celia who would be here tomorrow to talk to the CenturyLink guy about it. I’m staying and hoping he comes early so I could head into work, otherwise I’ll work on Sunday. Ma & Pa, expect my paycheck to be mailed maybe!
So that’s a bummer.

Hopefully the internet guy comes early, and I can go to work and I can get the internet up and all that…ho hummm.

Thursday

Internet is back!!! I got up early and then hung around Celia's when I got the headsup that the guy was coming in to check the line. The modem was faulty, so he replaced it and now we have internet again, hurray!

I packed up, put on better clothes, and went to work. I photographed and boxed up lamps and things. Then worked on editing down photos. Had pasta and pizza for lunch. Mmm carbs and red sauce.

I deposited my paychecks and withdrew some money and tucked that money into an envelope and gave it to Mom and Dad at the Audubon meeting in Poulsbo, then I went home and had dinner and relaxed and watched TV and got caught up on the Internet.

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

The internet at Pulali is down.

But not my phooone!

But yeah there will be a blog soon.

I saw It Follows and bought a cute dress. Those are the main highlights that you are missing.

exclusivity

Saturday:

Spent the day with Aaron, with whom I am now exclusive. Not officially boyfriend-meet-the-family-and-friends but hey, it's something! And he's cute and I like him a whole bunch. Anyway, spent the day with him. We got lunch at Hare & Hounds/Hound & Hares in Poulsbo. Split onion rings and fish and chips and had a pint each. Then we walked around downtown and checked out the book shops. I turned my back on him for a second, and in that second he found a hydraulic handbook. Ha!

I also presented him with some chives for his garden, which he was very appreciative of. I didn't stay over.

Sunday:

Woke up before 9 and went back to sleep. Eventually rolled out of bed at noon. Had a scramble, and later some cast iron cooked green beans and the barley wine ale that was 10.5% abv and was a bit intense. Also had a fire going and sat in front of it and read, and chatted with Celia for a bit. Nice mellow Sunday. Now I'm watching Mad Men!

Another week begins.

Thinking About Makeup Combinations

Micron & tombow.
2015.

yup, not going back to Verizon

Thursday:

On site! I photographed and we discussed return policies and tactics and things to do in the upcoming days. Oh! Need to email boss about my time off.

I left early to run a Verizon errand for the boss (which was covered by my wage, not just a freebie favor), which should have been a simple return, but due to the nature of the return it took about an hour and fifteen minutes of me sitting, and talking to various people and them talking to other people. I oogled the cute Verizon guys and fiddled with my phone (gladder than ever I'm no longer on that network and dealing with their service). Afterwards I got a passion fruit boba tea and went to Seabeck. I tried on the Tom's I ordered, and they are perfect! Now to return the second pair that accidentally got ordered (I thought I cancelled the first order, but it didn't go through in time so they both were charged and sent). I had dinner then swung by Trader Joe's then home!

Friday:

Did one test run of makeup for the wedding, a basic red lip & light eyeshadow and eyeliner & brow look. Not bad, though I think the red lip will be hard to maintain through the day. But maybe if I get a better lasting lipstick. If I decide to go that route. I had smokey eyes to try as well.

I have laundry drying right now, and a teeth strip on, and I had potstickers earlier. A mellow day. Didn't work from home. I'll do that Sunday. I kinda spread out my Friday/Monday work through the weekend.

Hanging with Aaron tomorrow, excited for that.

OH!! Reminder to self: see It Follows at Lynwood Theater some time.

not a raspberry beret

Tuesday:

Packed up Bodi. He sat relatively pleasantly on the way back to B.I., and when he saw the Boss he got so excited and happy! And she said that he seemed very well adjusted for having been away. No neurosis like a kennel would make. He was a pleasant pup.

So work. I worked! I tried to figure out some computer stuff, and got a little done. It's a new month so more is going up on our eBay! Whoooo! There are limits to being a new seller as it turns out.

And I photographed cloth items. Just quick photos, no tricky set ups.

Then I headed out to Port Orchard to see Kumiko The Treasure Hunter. I picked up my VIP card and got popcorn and milk duds and put the milk duds in the popcorn. Yum! The movie was great. Rinko Kikuchi is such a wonderful actress, and the music was great. Unfortunately the projection was messed up and they had the white balance so blown out, so so many shots were a total wash. A pity as the movie obviously was destined to be pretty. Oh well.

And Marcus & Brook(e?) were there, but I didn't curb their style by sitting with them and chaperoning. Haha. I snapped this picture:

Then I went to Target and got bulk toilet paper, and other supplies. It was a nice drive back. Stayed up & slept in.

Wednesday:

Did my computer work. Ate a late breakfast lunch. Chilled. Tidied. Swept the floor. Did and put away the dishes. Spread out the bulk toilet paper.

A lowkey day. Tried to make sure not to believe anything on the Internet.

I treated myself to the Anastasia Brow Pomade and I am loving it! It applies so much easier and with more precision that the wax & powder brow stuff I was using before. Did I mention I got that stuff? Anyway, I'm actually using it now and I love it! Powerful bold brows foreveerrr!!

Now to put on a teeth strip.

Bodi's day out

Saturday:

Can't sleep in when you gotta walk a doggy woggy. Walked the pup up to the top of the road and back. It was an absolutely perfect day. I sat out and read. Lit a fire and read more. Had a proper meet and greet with Bodi and Corbie, and now they are buddies. Celia made dinner and it was scrumptious.

Sunday:

Celia made buckeyes after Amber McA's recipe, and it was so tasty. We walked the boys, and they were good and on their leash when Ma and Pa rolled up in their truck. M&P unloaded, and we hung out and tried some more sweets, and then did the loop walk down by the river with the doggies. They both did the whole thing twice what with all the running back and forth and up and down. Very spirited. Dinner was salad and grilled fish and burgers and spinach. Bodi sat in my lap for a bit! Then in Mom's chair when she got up for a second.

After dinner, we lit a fire inside and watched Big Trouble in Little China. Fun movie. Then it was night night for the lot of us.

Monday:

Bodi barked at Ma and Pa when they broke into the house in the morning! I had a scramble for breakfast, then helped spread out crushed oyster shells in the garden paths. Dad grilled up some hot dogs and I had a double, then I set about scanning. Lots of nice photos. Plenty of pages. And after that did some other work. La la.

Now I've got fifteen minutes left on my teeth strip then it's off to bed to read for a bit and get in one last sleep with Bodi doggy.

territory dispute

Thursday:

Got caught up during my commute by something happening on the bridge. Not quite it going up but maybe an accident? Just worked solo. Photographed, recorded, did online research and stuff. I packed up Bodi's things and off we went to Pulali! Sweet little doggy. Made no fuss about getting in my car and was a perfect driving companion. Once out of the car, Bodi bounded around and laid down some scent on the trees. Lots of running about and enthusiasm. Brought in his crate, set out some food, gave some treats. Corbie swung by for a little bit, and left...and peed on the grill cover.

Bodi cuddled on my bed, and was perfectly mild all night long.

Friday:

Got up earlyish to let Bodi out. Had a scramble. Then took Bodi for a walk through the woods and up to the end of the road and back. Doggy got a good walk. The weather was perfect. Wonderfully bright and warm, with just a bit of a breeze. Excellent dog walking weather. Later in the day I found that Corbie had peed on the jam next to the door. Damnit. Bodi don't pee that high, so I know who donnit. I took a nap with Bodi. Then had dinner and made a frie and read in front of the fire. Now I'll tuck into bed, after letting Bodi out for one that one last pee.

So any dog that comes 'round here will have to contend against Corbie being a brat I guess. Argh.

shoppinguh

Tuesday:

On site, but earlier than usual due to a meeting. We met with an appraisal expert, and I shall spare his expertise about our industry. But it was an enlightening experience. Lots of facts about this and that. Then I had lunch and then got to photographing and other things. A good day's work.

I deposited my checks, and got some teeth whitening strips to improve my smile for the wedding, swung by the library and picked up a stack of books, then I was back home to chill.

Wednesday:

Today was hanging with Ma! I slept in, then woke up and called her to say I'd rolled out of bed. I showered, got dressed, then packed a breakfast for the road and headed out to Silverdale. We met at Origami Sushi, chatted, had udon and sushi, then began the quest to find a dress for the wedding!

First up was Texas Glad Rags, which was a consignment shop. And after a few poor color choices in odd silhouettes, we found a winner! A Bagdley Mishka...or however that is spelled. Half off! And it is so cute, I can't believe how cute Mom looks in it. It's comfy too. Not all tight and fitted. So happy it turned out like that. We still swung by Old Navy to see what they had. A few things, but nothing that excellent fitting for Mum. Nothing like the B.M.! Oh... that's not a good way to refer to that dress.

Then the Kitsap Mall, which gets more hollowed out every time I end up in it. Fewer stores. I couldn't find the shoes I wanted, so now I'll have to see about ordering them before looking at other shoes. We swung through Sephora but the concealer was tough to match with the lighting available. At Walgreen's, I got Ma to try a few products at my recommendation. My skin has actually been consistently really nice lately. I've settled into a good routine and I only have hormonal breakouts.

Anyway, got Ma treating herself so that's good. Back at home, when Dad returned, we steamed some clams and tried on clothes and I was a real charmer with some timed farts. Yup. Eventually I was ejected from the house.

I swung through Silverdale and picked up a few choice beers from BevMo, and then went to Sephora again, when it was significantly less busy, and Apple the store associate helped me pick out the right color of Anastasia Dipbrow eyebrow pomade. Yes, now my eyebrows will be even more bold and awesome! But I was almost out of the product I had been using, and this was recommended highly so I got it. Also Apple applied it to show how it looks, and it looked awesome. She was a great associate, and gave me samples too.

Then I swung by Michael's to get a few more earring making supp-OH! Mom passed along a few earrings to me. I've yet to take out both my piercings, though the new one should be healed. It feels like the end of an era to do so but I must I suppose, in order to try many new earrings! But yeah, I needed some flat end earring stems to string beads onto. So I have those and shrinky dink material now.

THENNNN I went home, after a full fun day of shopping and hanging out!

Now I'm sitting with a teeth whitening strip on. It's 30 minutes of awkward mouth feel, so this better work, and if not work entirely at least work a little bit.

ghosts of 2011

Sunday:

Slept in till the ungodly hour of 10am! Had some english muffin and coffee, and read a bit of comic, and then put on my work clothes and come the proper time of day, we set off to Point Whitney for some clamming! My job was to measure clams to make sure they were of the proper large enough size. The first scrape up yielded many small clams. Then Ma, Pa, and Celia started getting some proper large clams. Corbie was nice and mellow. I watched him too.

We had some lunch upon our return, then Ma and Pa headed back to Seabeck and I got ready to head out to meet Sam in Bremerton. Sam has some mention in my blog about 3-4 years ago. He's a UW grad still living in Seattle and we have mutual Portland friends. Anyhoo, he's still in the area and I need to pursue hanging out with people.

I picked up my comics at Comics Keep, then parked near the ferry to meet him. While waiting, I got a picture of Dad's front page photo of the Kitsap Sun Sunday Edition. Disappointed that they apparently make no mention of Mom. I also ran into Rob, who is Karen's fella. We chatted National Parks while waiting for our people to disembark the ferry. Sam met Karen, Karen met Sam, Karen knows I met Rob. How fun!

Sam and I grabbed a pint and onion rings at Horse and Cow, and walked around town a bit catching up. He went to UCSC so I got to gab a bit about how the town has changed (i.e. the basketball stadium). He caught the 9:05 back, and I got home in not bad time at all.

Monday:

Worked from home! Corresponded with some eBay buyers. It's great that we've had pretty awesome selling success, but a shame we can't upload a ton of quality stuff to sell off. Did some flow chart composing, then spent hours uploading photos.

I put a few books on hold at KRL. Need to find a quarter so that I can pay off my library fine from 2011.

Now I must go to bed early because I have to leave early to get to work a little bit early.

Saturday, March 21, 2015

week ending, not ready for a new week

Thursday:

Worked on site! Lots of conversation about this and that and procedure. Took photos. Took records. Documented. Moved things about. Ebay is a bit of a scam to start selling. Can't really make money till you are selling for a few months. Rather bummer there. Anyhoo, swung through Silverdale on the way home and stopped by Trader Joe's and BevMo. So that was fun. Downloaded an app so maybe I'll retain some knowledge about the beers I've been drinking.

Friday:

Slept in. Worked. Tidied. Did laundry. Was frustrated. My dismal mood continues for what must be three weeks now. I feel down and anxious and unsatisfied and directionless. Blehhh.

Saturday:

Ma and Pa came over! We spread out manure and talked fashion and had Celia over for pot roast and veggies and potato salad and then we watched Zoolander and I sat in front of the fire and read comics. Nice weather for some gardening. I raked up the cardboard that was laid down as mulch, because it was more just a slippery mess and not at all mulch proper.

Getting out of the house tomorrow.

Back to Dark Brown

Dyed my hair! It's been a few months so it was time to make it nice and dark once again. It had grown out nice though. No very clear roots. I picked a good color.

The boat guys were back. It seemed like they hauled up an anchor and then scooted away real quick. I don't know what's up with that. The boat guys I mean the guys who were here for a bit maybe on our wifi and then left. What are they up to? I should yell at them if they turn up again.

Worked from home. Did lots of research into cameras. Got a few more things up on eBay.

snoopadoop

Monday:

Worked from home! Did a bunch of item research, and then started bringing it online. Lots of sitting about and eating carbs and wishing I had a second monitor. Maybe when I get my tax refund...would be nice to get a new laptop too, as mine has keys that are no longer working which makes it not so good as a transportable media device.

Anyhoo. Refunds are nice to dream about.

Tuesday:

What a day! Spent most of my shift setting up an eBay store for the job and getting a few items into it and trying to figuring out what the insert fee was actually about, as well as giving feedback for the company modus operandi. I figured out what I was doing wrong and got a few items up, so huzzah for that! And I agreed/volunteered to harbor Bodi for a weekend in exchange for cash. Boss is going on a little vacation. Bodi is a good little doggy. Not an indoor pooper. He's a Cockapoo. Ya know, cocker spaniel poodle. Like the dog Carolyn Knapp-Shappey has in Cabin Pressure.

Oh wow it's Midnight. Think I'll think about tucking into bed now.

Monday, March 16, 2015

weather dregs

Saturday:

Slept in all nice and cozy. Had a scramble, set up my sewing machine and made a few of my tees fit better. In the late afternoon, I headed over to Suquamish for dinner with Aaron. We walked Banjo, then sloppy joes were made. Poor Aaron has been working on site on Vashon. 60 hour weeks, and he has a few more left. Hours every day commuting. So that's why he hasn't been mentioned that often in my blog.

Didn't stay over. Returned home and slept in way too long.

Sunday:

Slept in way too long, and had odd dreams. Then I snacked and had coffee and worked on work from home stuff. It was a damp day. Perfect for working from home. I researched, I uploaded, I researched.

Tomorrow I'm still from home, then I go on site on Tuesday! Leaving the house! Hurray!

babys on fire

Thursday & Friday:

Called off from going in to work! So I worked from home! Edited stuff. Researched stuff. Slept in. These guys on a boat seemed to be on my wifi network for a little bit. They were talking about Siri and had an iPad.

Today (Friday) I had a plan to meet Karen to see Chappie. I left early to run errands. First I dropped off my phone at FedEx to finally return it and get the replacement. I'll have a backup or something. I wanted a refund but I didn't get that. Boo!

Then Target for hair dye and car stuff (oil and gas treatment). Then I went and got a haircut at Great Clips at the Poplars. Got the usual: cut off a few inches, layer my hair so it frames my face, and do a just okay job on my bangs. But it looks cute and soon I'll dye it again so it'll be nice and dark and fresh for the wedding!

I enjoyed Chappie, though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't know who Die Antwoord is. A very odd casting to have and feature them so heavily. The robot effects were great, Hugh Jackman's shorts could have been shorter, and there were some glaring plot holes in regards to character accountability. But I liked that Neill Blomkamp included the line from the Die Antwoord song "Neill Blomkamp is going to make me a movie star". Ha!

After the movie, I went to Seabeck and hung out with Dad a bit. Got some pie and dinner, and got my heath care card and my package from Lostboy aka Finn. Looking forward to custom fitting it tomorrow! I left around 8:15ish so that I could make a treasured Trader Joe's run.

Now I'm watching TV in my jammies. Don't have much on the docket for the weekend, though I have work to catch up on.

death & taxes

Tuesday:

On site day! Had a nice drive in, and photographed things. And also did some paycheck match, which gave me a massive headache, but I got it sorted! There was some pay sheet stuff that had to be written out.

It's so weird to get home and still have daylight. It's nice to not stagger through the dark to the house.

And I did my taxes! I did it on paper. 1040EZ. I'm not claiming anything beyond my W-2's, so I thought why not do it myself, and it wasn't that bad at all. And I put in the effort to do my California taxes as well, to get that sweet $52 back. And I'm claiming the EIC, so hopefully that works out! I should be getting a good chunk of change back, so that's exciting. Did get dinged for not having heath coverage, but it wasn't a big ding.

So that felt good, to get my taxes done like an adult and all that.

Wednesday:

Went to drop off my taxes at the Brinnon Post Office, but they were on lunch so I went to the Halfway House and got some chicken strips and coffee and fries and cole slaw. I sat and ate and read, and I overheard "My daughter gave up horses for boys, and I was always opposed to that."

Mailed off my taxes. Hurray! So hopefully they get processed soon, and I get my moolah soon. Yay, money!!

And I worked from home, and my shift tomorrow is swapped to Friday, so I'll be working from home tomorrow too.

I'm such an adult, woohoo!

also: mango

Sunday:

Instead of staying in pajamas till the last possible minute, I put on a nice dress and tights and got into my work mood! And did some work. And then generally I dolled myself up to look nice, but to look nice for myself because makeup is a fun hobby. One of these days I'll figure out how to make my hair not so raggedy, but for now I got that cool 20-something not really goth look going on.

Anyway, I headed out to Port Townsend to meet Marcus at Middletown Pin for pre movie beers. It's this pinball bar, but really it's a hole in the wall with like five machines and air hockey. Nothing like Ground Kontrol in Portland.

This nice lady Tiffany was like "hey wanna play air hockey?" so we played a game of air hockey, and I lost, but it was pretty fun.

When I was sitting, waiting still and starting a book, this dude (this barber named John) came up to me and sat down and just started talking to me...without asking if he could sit or join me or anything like that, and I was just...it sucks because there is this conditioning to be polite and the fear that saying "hey I want to be alone" might be meant with violence, so I was forced into chatting with this rando for 5-10 minutes, and I wasn't into it at all and maybe if I wasn't dressed so nice or hadn't done my makeup or whatever, maybe he would have left me alone from the get go. But thankfully Marcus showed up and I was able to say "hey I haven't seen my friend in a while, do you mind" and he left us alone. BLEH!!

So I had a couple pints before the movie, and Marcus and I caught up. And the movie was What We Do In The Shadows and it was playing at the Starlight Room, which was a venue Marcus had never been at, and it was hilarious! A New Zealand vampire mockumentary. Funny, well acted, just brilliant through and through. Don't Google the trailer, just watch it if it comes your way.

Marcus and I talked down at the peer for a while, then parted ways. I got food at QFC and filled up my tank and got home at a less than decent hour for a Sunday night.

Monday:

Worked! Edited photos, did online stuff, added to this and that. Also moved the New Items out of the New Items category to prepare to adding more new items! That took a while. We need a better system.

I didn't really leave the house, or make anything too fancy to eat. Though I am watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix Instant and I kinda wanna just do that till there are no more episodes left. It's a pretty fun show, I recommend it.

clean space, I guess clean mind??

Friday:

Had a longish on site day. Well not totally longish, it just went a little bit over my usual hours. Not that I'm complaining. Photographed. Researched. Photographed. I microwaved my pizza too much and it was too hot and I had to wait for it to cool to eat.

Got home and howled at the moon.

Celia came over with a big bowl of popcorn and we watched Pitch Perfect.

I slept in the big bed, for a change of pace. It was pretty comfy.

Saturday;

Slept in, snacked through the day, lit a fire, tidied. Put away clothes, ran some laundry. Now the house is all pretty and tidy. I made a few more earrings. I need some flat head earring thingies, so that they all don't end in the loops. But that'll come when I get more practice in.

Did a bit of work. Mostly just chilled.

Still not feeling too hot. This whole week has got me down.

Tomorrow I'm seeing a silly movie with a friend, so that'll be nice.

whatever

I'm super frustrated with everything right now, and I don't feel like there's anyone I can really talk to about all the stuff that's frustrating me which is a SUPER great feeling to have. Anyway, here's what I've been up to these past four days:

Monday:

Worked from home. Did research. Did editing. I think I did other stuff?

Tuesday:

Worked on site, but an abbreviated day. Did online research and ordering and we had a power meeting regarding the company set up and tactics. It went for a few hours and my brain fried out, but I think I had some good contributions. Hopefully things take off. I got out early because I had a library errand, and I ended up signing back up for KRL and checked out some comics and books, and then ran a craft supply errand and a comic shop errand, and then got back home at a good dark hour.

Wednesday:

Slept in, then read comics in bed for a while. Eventually rolled out of bed, did some work, then packed up and headed for Seabeck. Paid bills. I decided to drive to Seatac and get Ma and Pa, instead of waiting around for the airporter. Driving an extra 2 and a half hours in a day, but getting back into bed at 1am versus leaving the house at 2-3 am. It was an easy drive over, an easy pick up, and an easy drive back. Once again, I slept in. I've been sleeping a lot. I really enjoy being warm and cozy in all my blankets. Wish I could spend more time in bed reading comics.

Thursday:

Dad made pancakes, and I had a palm tree shaped one. Sent off a work email. Saw their vacation photos, which were really good! Lots of birds and beaches. Seems like they had a really good time. Summer can't come for here fast enough. I packed up and headed home to Pulali. Got some gas. Got some ice cream. Settled in. Did research. Had dinner. Hum drum ho hum.

Blaaaah.

Sunday, March 1, 2015

quadruple representation of days

I am massively behind! I'm sorry!

Thursday:

Worked on site doing lots of photos and research and computer stuff. Did my hair in a sloppy updo to cover up that it was unwashed, though I don't think it was that convincing. Got my payday, so I deposited that on the way home into the ATM (booyah!) and swung through Silverdale and did some errands and then headed home.

Friday:

Rolled out of bed at a somewhat decent hour, and did some work from home, then left for Seabeck to check on what was shaking out there. ANNNND I forgot the keys to Seabeck, though really that just left me down the mailbox key. I could undo the gate and house no problem with the secreted away keys. So I got the house warmed up, turned up the hot tub, and called Karen to see what pizza she wanted. I ordered Italian and breadsticks from Seabeck Pizza, and when I picked it up there were some Girl Scouts pushing cookies, so I hit up the ATM and slapped down a $20 and bought five boxes: two thin mints, one samoas, one trefoils, and one tagalongs.

Unfortunately the hot tub never got hot enough for us to properly enjoy it, but we did enjoy the pizza and we talked at length about all sorts of things. J'adore Karen.

I went back home to sleep for the night.

Saturday:

Slept in, then I packed up all the trash and recycling, and hauled it to the dump. 6.15 for the can, and all the recycling in their proper containers. The lady at the dump is so chipper. It's been 5-6 weeks since my last dump run. Devoted composting works wonders!

And I continued driving to Seabeck, and got the mail (more books!) and snacked on some of the snacks at the house for a while, then packed up and went back home. Oh! On the way to Seabeck I stopped at Big Beef for a photo because the sun was setting and it was SO BEAUTIFUL!!

Back at home, I started a fire and made a hot toddy and sat and read This One Summer till it was time to sleep.

Sunday:

Right after breakfast, Celia texted me asking to ask if I could help with some first aid, so I dashed right over! She had cut open her finger, so I helped compress a bandaid (after looking into the wound to see if it needed more cleaning). So happy I'm not squeamish.

I gave her some girl scout cookies to help the healing process.

Then I took a lengthy bath and finished reading This One Summer.

Then I worked on more work from home stuff. Had dinner courtesy of Celia.

Lit another fire. It's going out now, but the house is warm enough.

Tomorrow is a work from home day.

bacon bacon oh so good

Tuesday:

On site! I was by myself for the first chunk, so I took pictures and organized boxes, and edited this and that. When the Boss returned, I got to doing computer stuff, including setting up some cloud based email and ordering things and other stuff. It felt like a productive day. After work, I swung by home and got the mail for Ma & Pa, and changed some of the lights that were on, and generally made sure nothing had burned down. Got back home late, but it's all good as I was working from home the next day.

I watched the Parks and Rec finale and cried pretty hard about it.

Oh! Also swung through Silverdale on the way back and made a beloved Trader Joe's run, as my food supplies were getting low.

Wednesday:

Slept in, had a bacon and egg scramble and a cuppa coffee. Did lotsa computer work. Got the group email routing in the right direction. Did some research into different sites. Listened to plenty o' podcasts. It's earlier than usual for my blogging, but I figure might as well get it done now and not worry about it and forget it later.

Monday from home

Got up, had an egg salad sandwich for brunch, had some coffee, got to work researching better website template builders and stuff. And worked on item research. Pretty nice day outside.

A group of kayakers went by. I waved and took pictures through my binoculars.

Watched television, ate pasta with extra garlic in the sauce. Working on site tomorrow, so I'll be tucking in to bed soon, and also I'll swing by Seabeck after.

Ma & Pa, how are you liking your vacation?

everyone says I should read Bryson, well fine I will!!

Saturday:

Ohhh had a really lovely day in Port Townsend with Aaron. He drove and parked at my place, and I drove us in to Port Townsend (I have that Discover Pass for parks adventures). First up, we got brunch at the Blue Moose Cafe down near the docks. No waiting to be seated, which was awesome. I ordered the eggs benedict, as per usual, and he biscuits and gravy and hash. I ate with my fingers and made a very sloppy mess of it, but that's how I roll and he didn't seem embarrassed to be in public with me afterwards, so that's a good sign!

It was a perfect day for being outside. That perfect, crisp clear weather with blue skies and a few clouds far in the distance. Absolutely wonderful weather. We walked around the docks a bit and looked at boats, then I drove up to Fort Worden and we walked out on the dock there and along the beach and up to the lower bunkers, which were awesome as always. I like how there's just a couple "warning hazardous area" signs, and that's that. No need to go overboard, just warn people and if they hurt themselves on the old cement structures then it is their fault!

We hiked up to the upper bunkers too, and basked in the sun for a while. Aaron had never been to Port Townsend before, so wanted to show him the major hits first. Food, check, boats, check, bunkers, check, Elevated Ice Cream? Oh you betcha check! I got the dutch malt, which was like a whopper in ice cream form, and he had the mexican chocolate.

AND! I saw Jaden! Who I haven't seen in years. She didn't remember me, but of course I knew her as a baby and a toddler, and she is a tween now. I sorta get that whole thing where older family people remember you, but you don't remember them. I said a quick hello and returned to ordering ice cream.

We walked up and down the main street in old town, and went into bookstores (I got a Bill Bryson book FINALLY and rebought Stiff, Aaron bought a different Bryson book) and toy stores (I bought a couple Playmobil blind bags). All in all, a wonderful day. And the weather maintained throughout.

As he had left Banjo at home, Aaron departed shortly after getting back to the house.

I watched my stories and went to bed.

Sunday:

Slept in! That was awesome. Then I washed my car, because it needed it, and found out I do get a few channels on the TV, and tuned it to ABC for the Oscars. Man, so much Oscars! Hours of red carpet, hours of the show, and Neil Patrick Harris was a bit of an ass. I'm happy for the winners, surprised at the best actor and actress wins, but generally it was a good year...though really not diverse at all.

Anna Kendrick should host next year.

Celia came over for the Oscars too, and brought Mac n Cheese and popcorn. Nice to chastise with someone else.

I really want to see Mr. Turner now.

Here are some photos:

Mary

Thursday:

Great Aunt Mary's memorial was really nice. I got to see Jenny, Janet, Brian, Katy, Lee, Carmen, Josh, Leif and Eric briefly, Hans, Brynne, Dan, Perry, Rosie, Celia...though I see Celia often. There was a generous buffet and memories were shared of a wonderful lady. I've only met Mary a few times, but she has had quite the impact in our family/

I caught the 11:15am Edmonds ferry over, walked to the Edmonds Yach Club. Wore a nice dress, tights, and was probably the best dressed on the ferry.

After the memorial, Carmen, Josh, Brian and I went to the Salish Brewery for a few pints and a game of Cards Against Humanity. I had an IPA and a cider. I didn't win, and Carmen almost won but Brian stacked the game to Josh. Such a sibling move!

I was dropped off at the ferry, didn't have to wait long, and cruised on back  past Quilcene to home. Did some more work and then tucked in to bed late in the night.

Friday:

Worked on site! Did some computer work, then photographed a bunch of things. Shoes, books...other things? It's totally slipped my mind in the few hours that has passed since I did that. Hahaha. A nice little day. Got some more at home duties to do on Monday. And plenty of stuff to do to get more stuff on the store.

Tomorrow I'm getting brunch in Port Townsend with Aaron, yay!

ciao parents, have fun

Tuesday:

On site was just me and photographing things and documenting and all that jazz. Lots of podcasts were listened to, and I generally just worked and stuff. Wrote down a little report of the stuff I've researched.

At 6 I left for Seabeck. Dinner was salmon burger patties with beans. Dad and Mom went to sleep early, and I stayed up and watched Bring It On and looked at family photos, then I tucked in for a couple hours of sleep. At 2:15am, we left Seabeck for SeaTac, with Dad driving. I played the Nome Serum Run episode of Stuff You Missed in History. The parents are off to Mexico for two weeks! I got to drive the 2011 Prius, and so many buttons! I remember learning to drive on the 2001, and that seemed so high tech. Now it's fuddy duddy and worn in, haha. Got home at 5am ish and crawled in to bed and slept in.

Wednesday:

Slept in and didn't roll out of bed till almost 1. I had some breakfast and grabbed the mail and returned to Pulali. I watched Parks and Recreation. Had some food and tea. Worked on editing photos and other at home work stuff.

Now to go to bed and get up and go to Mary's Memorial tomorrow. Then it's my weekend! Though I'll probably focus on working from home some more. Get stuff online for the store and all that.

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

moss, maurice

Worked from home doing the online errands, whee! Google this, order that, realize I was putting this info where that info should have gone. Called for this and that. I'm never sure if I've done enough or not, but I can always do more later to compensate.

I also helped Celia scrape the moss off her roof. Just a little bit of push broom action getting the growth off the gentle slope. Need to find a stiffer metal thing on a long stick so that we can scrape the steeper roofs from the ground. I'm not getting tied onto a rope and dangled for moss!

I hardboiled some eggs and didn't forget them this time (did I mention I forgot some hard boiled eggs and only remembered once I heard them popping in the dry pan??).

Got a big day tomorrow, full of driving! Time to tuck in to bed.

Monday, February 16, 2015

gal and val

Ahhh! I meant to blog before I left on Saturday, but I forgot. So here is a three day post!

Friday!

Did some work, then met Karen in Bremerton to celebrate Galentine's Day. Mom, you didn't tell me that you ran into Karen on the Ferry! Or rather as of this blog entry, you haven't texted to tell me you say Karen.

First I swung by Comics Keep in Bremerton to procure the first issue of Help Us! Great Warrior, by Madeleine Flores and colored by Trillian Gunn. Gotta support cool people making comics! And I also got the first volume of Sex Criminals (not exactly what it sounds like) and some Lumberjanes issues. And I started up my box again (I had a comic subscription box here before I left Washington for Portland, pre-blog era) to make sure I got more HU!GW and Lumberjanes, and whatever else I want on order. Dana, the shop owner, remembered me. How nice!

Then I met Karen for sushi and chat. I adore her, she's so great. Her company is always wonderful, and having a friend who has seen you go through stuff, and you've seen them grow. Such a good thing.

Together we saw Inherent Vice...and I kinda wished we'd seen Jupiter Ascending instead. IV was just... unneeded. The filming was good, the shots were excellent, casting on point and all that but the plot was unintelligible! Like it would just go on and on and on and we were both looking at each other going "this is really weird, what is happening I'm so lost..." yeah. Nice to look at but uhhhg nah.

We parted ways and I went to Trader Joe's and got food and I noticed my tire was looking a little low, so I topped it off before heading back home.

Saturday!

I made an appointment at Walmart to get my tire fixed (it was leaking, but not at an undriveable rate). Did some laundry. Got all gussied up and left with plenty of daylight to see Aaron for Valentine's Day. Daylight so that we could walk Banjo. And it's nice to spend time with a fella that you like. We walked Banjo down to the beach and the tide was low and clams were spurting water.

On the return, we made a calzone for dinner! It was mozzarella and goat cheese and prosciutto. I picked up the supplies at TJ's based on a recipe I found. Can't let Aaron do all the cooking, though he is very good at it. It was a tasty meal, but could have used some more flair. We watched a movie and I stayed over.

Breakfast was a drive up to Kingston, too long a wait at the brunch place, and a short walk to the crepe place and then crepes! We (sans Banjo) walked down to the dock and looked at the boats.

I left relatively early to make my appointment at Walmart. Got my tire fixed no problem. Picked up some discounted candy and went home. OH! I also got some fudge in Kingston.

I managed to catch Darrah during her visit with Celia. She and Jill hosted me over in Massachusetts way back when. After a property walk around, we got into the fudge and chatted. Now Darrah is flying back to Boston and I'm up late after doing some work and I'm tired so time to hit the hay!

One more flat tire, and the hazard insurance has fully paid for itself ($10/tire for four tires and three repairs).

Friday, February 13, 2015

new project time

Wednesday:

On site! I took photos of another box of things, mostly books. Put those into the spreadsheet. Worked on invoices and other Google things. Boss watched Nightcrawler and we bonded over our mutual enjoyment of it. A nice day on site. Felt pretty productive.

Back at home, I hung out with Celia a bit and had noodles and we gave the kitties catnip and they loooved it. Sam got all loopy and let me pet him! And Panda and Teddy were like totally mellow yellow. Hahah.

Thursday:

Applied for health insurance! And I qualify for Washington Apple Care...which is pretty much Medicaid rebranded so...hopefully that works out??? It's something. It's...not getting fined by the tax man. And I worked more on my cell phone refund. It's such an annoying loop of communication.

And I did some at home stuff for work. Image editing. And I secured the Tumblr "StampClub" to use for posting scans of old yearbooks. I like the title Stamp Club, but I might change it...but I got it for now (it's free).

Stamp Club because...it's a silly old timey club. Melissa (Happy Birthday Mel!!!) suggested something along the lines of "Most Likely To..." but I can't think of a good way to fill that in.

Did laundry. Had pasta. Took a bath. Read The Blazing World. I need to go grocery shopping.

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

the stick isn't important

Drinking some chamomile tea before bed. Got another on site day tomorrow and then nada for the rest of the week (well nada on site).

I'm moving up to preparing invoices for clients! And I did other office stuff and expressed my desire to not handle critical phone stuff, and the boss was receptive to it. Nice boss! And I finished the day with some measuring of items. I also helped move a desk. Nice little day on site.

Tomorrow will be another photographing day, so that I can have stuff to work on from home. Getting those hours!

Weather was mild.

Note to self: remove that stick.

sinus drain

Since I drank coffee after the movie, it left me caffeinated too late in the day so I had a hell of a time getting to sleep. And then I suddenly got massively congested. So I popped a Benadryl and eventually got to sleep and woke up feeling so bedraggled and thirsty.

Did some at home work, had some pasta, reformatted my MP3 player because it got glitchy and now I have to rebuild my music library, but it's good to edit a new. Not like I lost tracks, it's all on my computer.

Lack luster day.

OH! I called to see about getting my phone reimbursed, but the call kept dropping right after I selected this menu option.

ANNND I got started on my health insurance. I'm not sure if I'm better off estimating high or low on my monthly income. If I lowball it, I might get in trouble, but if I go too high, what if it's costly? Well just need to take a few more steps and see what's up.

ditched again

Saturday:

Slept in, and then when I finally rolled out of bed, I put on my rain jacket and went to observe the ditches. I scraped the ground so the flow was better, and pulled a few twigs out. When I came home from the day's fun, I noticed Celia had dug out the ditches nice and proper, so I've got to give her a good thank you for that! The rain has been ferocious and constant.

I went over to Suquamish to see Aaron. Not just dinner on my way home from work. And you know what he surprised me with? Cheerwine!! You can buy it at Bevmo apparently. What a guy! And he made an awesome shepard's pie. I helped chop the yams and rosemary. I had two massive servings, and then we watched Horns which wasn't all that great. I didn't stay over. Not a bad drive back through Port...Port...Gamble? What a weird town. Looks like a model town, not a real place anyone would live.

Sunday:

Slept in. Itemized what I need to do tomorrow (call Straight Talk to get replacement voucher for busted phone, health insurance, job stuff) and looked at a day full of nothing and decided to see Jupiter Ascending and hang a bit with Marcus after.

So here's the thing about Jupiter Ascending: it's goddamn amazing. It's the movie every tween girl wrote. It's full of characters from every young gal's imagination. The men of interest in the movie lack the male power fantasy dynamic that is present in pretty much every other movie. Jupiter's costumes and makeup are perfection. It's so much damn fun and it made me yearn for a youth full of imagination and that lack of hindrance that comes with experience. I loved it. And the movie will flop. It's not what most people want to see, or expect to see, or like seeing. As fun as it is, it just isn't a movie that will speak to the masses, and unfortunately by masses I mean the guys who pay time and time again to see stuff. Argh.

Yeah.

I met Marcus at Shari's. I had pie, he had cocoa, and we talked Jupiter Ascending (I explained why it's so great) and television and other movies. We have very differing opinions and interests so it generally makes for good conversation (i.e. the trend of high waisted pants in the fashion design of the movie Her). It is so easy for me to spend the whole day at home, so I gotta take the initiative to get out more often.

And I put $8 of gas in my car, which actually was more than 2 gallons. Gas is going up, but it's still way cheap.

Friday, February 6, 2015

lights, wind, action!

Wednesday:

Another day of working from home! More photos uploaded, more TV watched, more sitting on the couch staying warm. It's been raining, raining, raining. I took a nice bath and read The Blazing World. Didn't leave the house for groceries. I can't tell the age of mice poops. I can't tell if they just showed up, or they've been here for a while and I haven't gotten around to cleaning it. So I'm keeping an eye on the surfaces I've cleaned.

Thursday:

Also didn't leave the house. It's so rainy! Just rain and rain and rain! All day. It's good for keeping everything wet and watered, but wow does it not want to make a person leave the house.

I did some more work from home research and finished getting all the items online with photos (well there's still another batch of things, but I'll save that for when I do the batch that I'm going to photograph tomorrow.

I forgot I was hard boiling eggs, and I heard popping and remembered I was hard boiling eggs. I don't think the pot is ruined, but those three eggs sure are.

Friday:

And my power went out right as I was finishing my post, so sorry that I was unable to get it up!

So my power went out, I called PUD and it was back an hour or so later, good for them! It was a sopping wet night for it, too.

Work was relatively laid back. I sorted out these usb cords and coaxial cables and got them in boxes. I did some computer stuff. I did some looking at antiques stuff. Some organizing. It ended up being a shorter day, but it was good to come in and work.

Afterwards I met Ma and Pa at Tizley's Europub in Poulsbo. A little up the stairs place, with beer on tap and schnitzle a plenty. I had the German Irishman sandwich, and half is saved for left overs. We chatted bird watching and travel plans and jokes and sass. A good dinner all around! And I paid my bills, but it's good to pay bills. Doesn't suck so bad when it's going to a good place.

I was all "here's car repair, and insurance, and insurance, and energy" and mom said "it looks more like margaritas in Mexico!" so that'll be good for them. Now I just gotta sign up for health insurance and I'm gold!

tempting the sickness fates

I won't be working on site again till Friday! But I've got more than enough on my end. In the past two days I've been adding items to the store, researching them, editing the descriptions, finding rough shipping costs, and also getting info for shipping the chairs! We sold them! Finally!

I did make a grocery run yesterday, but neglect to buy chips and dip. Oh well. I'll make another run tomorrow, just to...you know..get out of the house.

A CenturyLink guy came by to check our connection power.

But yeah, I've just been sitting in front of my computer doing my job. The online shop is getting mega huge now!

My body for a second was feeling like it might get sick, so I shoved more salad into it. Hope that does something. Some day I will get sick again, but it shant be today! Actually, outside of food poisoning, I haven't been properly sick at all in my 20's. I've had a few 24 hour colds but nothing really debilitating. I'm a super gal!

Homesman/Hourly

Saturday:

Celia and I went into Port Townsend for an Auntie & Niece night out. We got tickets to The Homesman, and then went to Hanazono and split an order of sushi, gyoza, tea, and ramen! A hearty warm meal. We gobbled it down and cleared our plates, then came time for Elevated Ice Cream! Because we still had time for elevated before the showing. I had the chocolate overload, and it was good as Elevated always is. I wore my long gabardine coat and felt like a detective.

Then! The Homesman! Tommy Lee Jones directing a women about the harsh West and women with mental health problems and compassion and stuff. A few bits of the movie needed more build up/clarity, but I'd rather watch a problematic movie that actually addresses the existence of women then another Nolan whatever.

Back at home I watched The Skeleton Twins and cried magnificently. Some movies have subject matter I just shouldn't watch. I drew two Hourly Comic Day comics, then went to bed.

Sunday:

Was woken up to find out that the chairs had sold! So I set about researching how to transport six dining room chairs to Brooklyn! Wow! Very expensive.

Today being February 1st means that it was Hourly Comic Day! So I did that alongside making a fire in the fireplace, eating pasta, cleaning the surfaces. The problem with coffee grounds is you want to make sure they are not mice poops, so I'm trading out the compost for a self contained little bin, instead of the side thing on the sink that leaks coffee grounds into the sink. Had a nice warm day. Worked from home. Started reading The Blazing World. Hopefully we can get the chairs out by the end of the day tomorrow!

Need to make a food run. Once I figure out UPS. Gas is ludicrously low.

and the month is almost gone

Might have a lead on our chairs for work. I edited photos and organized the website. I accidentally turned off my alarm, so I wasn't out of bed till past noon. Whoops.

Trying to eat more salad. Salad out of a bag without many toppings beyond dressing, yeah...but still...veggies! Yay!

I got two mice in the glue trap, so I drowned them. I should get one of those electric mice wards. They only seem to be getting into that one room, but I don't want them getting further into the house. Least of all my food!

So mice. Work. Salad. And now English arctic murder drama: Fortitude! Luke Treadaway is in it. I like them Treadaway brothers.

west virginia strikes again

Wednesday:

Working at home continues! Did I mention that I was sent back to home work? I snacked. Made a fire. Worked on the documents and getting stuff onto the online shop. Not really the most taxing of days.

Thursday:

Worked some more from home but the main highlight was Dad! Dad came over to help haul some wood for firewood. I say help, he did most of the work. Some madrona had fallen, so we attached chains to some of the bits to the truck and pulled it out, and then cut it into smaller pieces ready for chopping. Got a good start to a new firewood stack going. We make a good team with all our hand signals, none of which are vulgar!

I also set out some glue traps to snag a mouse that has been in the dog room, and one of the traps got the mouse! But I...forgot to secure the trap. So it took some finding to locate the mouse. At which point we drowned it, just like I did in Missouri.

After our good day's work, we went to The Halfway House and got pie. I went for the chocolate which was tasty but not as good as the banana creme. I shall not speak of the crumble that Dad had.

He left while it was still daylight and I did my job stuff and had dinner and made a fire.

Now I've watched my TV and edited down the images I've previously torn from magazines, so that I can start a new compilation of images that I like. Gotta make a recycling trip soon. But first, more job work!

ladies who lunch

Monday:

Worked on site! And will work on site again on Wednesday. Things change so quick, but I'm open to it! Good to be not tricky. I mainly photographed things, and printed out more box labels. Pretty soon one of the rooms in the house will open up and I'll have more space to work in!

I got through three boxes, so that was pretty good.

I swung by McDonald's on the way home and got junk food for dinner. I know I KNOW bad food is bad for you. And the bridge was up, so that added another half hour to getting back home. I listened to podcasts and played with my phone till traffic got moving. There are a lot of cops out on the roads, probably because there are not that many roads for people to drive on and those kids dying really makes them wanna crack down on speeding.

Tuesday:

Met Karen at Monica's in Silverdale for lunch and we had a really nice chat! One of those multi hour conversations about all sorts of things, and I was left feeling like I still had so much more to talk with her about! She's so great. One perk of being up in this area, is I have some of my old friends back in conversation. Santa Cruz was lonely like that. Sometimes you need at least one person around who has seen you through your awkward stages.

We walked down to the park and looked at the birds in the feed store (people were blocking our puppy access). AND she gave me another free dress! This one was a freebie from work that wasn't her style at all. It's silk and has this great stripe on it. We were both ace fashionable as well, her in black pants and slippers and striped sweater with lightly curled hair and dangly earrings. Me in black pants, shoes, shirt, with my blood orange jacket. The most fashionable gals this side of the canal!

I swung by Trader Joe's and BevMo and got gyoza and signed up for membership discounts. Don't know how often I'll be near BevMo but I do pass by Silverdale whenever I visit Seabeck. Didn't go too crazy at TJ's. I could have. But I didn't. Though I did eat all the potstickers tonight, in two batches. No more potstickers for me. Womp womp.

I edited the photos I took and burned a CD with some of the jewelry photography I've done, to give to one of our clients.

And I got a fire going. Got the house warm and toasty.

At least I'm not scared of the dark...

Saturday:

Rolled out of bed and had some oatmeal and got laundry started, but I had to leave the house before folding it from the dryer. I set off for Port Orchard to see The Babadook at the Dragonfly! Ohh what a scary movie. I signed up for the VIP membership, so next time I'm at the theater I can grab my card and movies will be cheaper! Next movie will hopefully be A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

The projection of the movie was questionable at times, but still a very scary movie! And the lead actress plays Phryne Fisher, yet I couldn't have guessed that in a months worth of guesses. Excellent horror movie, I covered my eyes at several points, AND it is directed by a lady so go her!

Afterwards I was wandering around P.O. a bit and saw a piercing place and was like "might as well get my other ear done" so I went in and picked out a little tigers eye stud, and the people in the shop were really nice, and it hurt so much less than the piercing guns at Piercing Pagoda. Like barely hurt. Such an easy little thing.

I met up with Marcus at Hopjacks for appetizers and a beverage, and we caught up on film and the future and plans. Nice to hang.

I swung by Target and got some hair dye and nail polish, and then Walgreens for the saline spray to use to keep my ear hole clean. Then back home just a little bit more body modified. Folded laundry.

Sunday:

Did a bit more work from home. Watched TV. Dyed my hair. Took care of my ear. Hung out with Celia for a little bit. All in all, a pretty mellow day. Working on site tomorrow, so it's off to bed for me!

But I may not be on site again after that (for the rest of the week). Still have stuff to do at home.

labeling images and all that

Had a slow roll out in the morning. Sat on the couch, where the best wifi is, and ate a scramble and had some coffee and interneted it up.

Backstrom is not a show worth watching. Apparently it is based on a Swedish book series...still the show is really forced.

I worked from home. Washed dishes. Ohhh I forgot I needed to do laundry.

Tomorrow I'm going to go see The Babadook and maybe hang with Marcus after. Hurray for leaving the house!

I updated my movie calendar and added The Homesman and A Most Violent Year to the list.

The weather has been stormy, with white crashing on the beach, but it hasn't been the loud rough destructive waves of a month ago.

I've been going through my magazines and tearing out the pictures I like, and setting the magazines aside to recycle.

I emailed my old job about my W2, so that's done.

Wish I had more to write. I used to write so much, but also much more happened day to day. I guess when you start your daily blog with the going away to college stage of your life, and then seven years later...well things settle down a bit. Hopefully not for long.

late twenties now

Wednesday:

Woke up and slept in and had a late go of things. I wasn't even shoving breakfast in my face till 1ish. Dad had to get my flat tire fixed (my car got a flat!)

But yeah, I'm 27 now! Birthday! Whooo! I opened my presents on the 20th and there wasn't a party so like...nothing much happened and all that.

I drove out to Bremerton, but cruised through Poulsbo and picked up The Blazing World from Liberty Bay Books first. THEN I went and picked up Karen. THEN we met Ma and Pa at Anthony's in Bremerton for a birthday dinner. We all had the sunset special, and I went for the kabob. Bread! Then appetizer! Then salad! Then entree! Then dessert! Wow! And Mom presented me with the Palladiums that Nate & Helen got me! Nice all black shoes. Post dinner, I hung out with Karen at hers for a bit, and she handed me down some amazing clothes! She has such great style, and now I am more stylish! Low key birthday, but good to see K, and to get my car back.

Thursday:

Worked on site! Got these free kayaks on Craigslist, and there was a stampede to pick them up! And two people arrived at the same time and didn't want to share! I relayed my research on the print, and contacted a gallery to see if they wanted the piece. If only it was the Queen Aggie Daikon print that I saw in St Petersburg, Florida. I loved that Yuji Hiratsuka print. Funny how that artist came back around in my life.

I photographed jewelry and items and all that good stuff.

And then I went to Suquamish! Aaron and I grabbed pizza and watched Netflix.

Not working on site tomorrow, but I've got oodles to do.

I wore one of Karen's new dresses today. This stripey sort of retro frock with tights and my new shoes. Felt groovy.

struttin' my stuff, torqueing that wrench

Monday:

Got up at a somewhat decent hour and had a muffin and Dad arrived at 11 for car stuff. I put on long johns under my work clothes. The heat of the heated garage quickly vanished with the garage doors open. The time had come to replace the struts on my car! The tires were removed fairly easily, as were the windshield wipers and the bolts of all sizes and out came the old worn struts and boy were they filthy! I have a very dirty wheel well. Hundreds of thousands of miles crusted on there. But once the struts were off it became evident that we needed another part: the cover for the piston thingy. The protective cover. We ordered it in at Napa (they said it would arrive at the Silverdale store at 4:30) and got as much other stuff done as possible. At 2:30ish we went to the Geoduck Tavern. I had the fish and chips basket, dad had the burger. Then we drove in to Silverdale and...the part wasn't there! It didn't make it onto the delivery truck in time! Dang! All that way, for what? We returned (in the van, not my car, my car only had two wheels at this time) to Seabeck and I had some tea and grabbed a few things, and then returned home in the van.

Tuesday:

Slept in a bit. Had udon and egg for breakfast. Ma & Pa showed up at around 1 to resume car stuff (Mom tagged along so that she could drive home and Dad would take my car, so that I wouldn't have to drive out and pick him up and rendezvous and come right back here and whatever). They brought my presents! Ma relaxed in front of the fire while we worked. And uhg what work! The spring needed to be compressed more, and then redone because the rubber at the base was crooked, and just the amount of force to compress the spring so that the bolt would lock into the thingy! So much work! It took many tries to get the first one all screwed together and oriented right, but we got it! The second went together in a couple tries, and boom it was back on the car and my car was rolling again! All it needs now is the alignment checked and corrected.

We took a break for turkey burgers for lunch. I opened my presents! Lots of sweets and plaid pajamas (that I am wearing right now) and Elsa Lanchester's book, and a Mignola book, and a Tamaki comicm, and socks and even MORE SWEETS! Yesss! And we took another break to eat the cake they brought over. Boston Creme Pie! Very delicious. Ma left after the cake. Dad left at around 9ish. Hopefully tomorrow we get to swap our cars. I ate some pasta for dinner, had some candy, watched some television.

And it's past midnight so now I'm 27! How 'bout that?

car repair extraordinare

I need to buy some more cadburry creme eggs. And regular eggs.

Saturday:

Drove in to Silverdale to meet Dad at Meinecke so that they could inspect the alignment on my wheels. Wanted Dad there so that he could properly make sense of what they were saying about my wheels and whatnot. I don't trust car dudes to treat me with respect. Nor do I trust myself to remember all that there is to ask about my car.

In the time waiting for my car we went to Elendil and checked out how it was. It's looking nice! Can't wait for summer to toll around so that I can boat it up.

Picked up my car and we decided to install the new struts ourselves and then get the alignment done. It'll save us ~$400 and I'll get to learn something about car repair, and Dad will drive it in to the shop to have the alignment done so if the tires fall off on the way there, I won't be the one to die! Hurray!

After the car we went to Hakata. I had katsudon and Dad had udon and we shared a crunchy roll. Good sushi there! At least Silverdale has good sushi restaurants. It may not have much, but it has that. We checked out the hobby shop and I snapped a pic of the "graphic arts" merit badge at the scout store, so that I could post it and declare that Mel had more than earned one for herself. I drove back home, knowing that if I went to Trader Joe's I would splurge on food I don't need immediately.

Then I settled in for television and not much else.

Sunday:

Slept way in, in my blanket cocoon. The power went out during the night, but it came back on before I was even up. Had a scramble and later on went over to Celia's for a dinner of rice and stew and TV (an episode each of Fleming and Top of the Lake, and three episodes of Parks and Recreation). Dad is coming up tomorrow to do the car stuff!

So here is hoping that goes well.

caravan

Thursday:

Worked on site! With the boss. I helped organize shoes between good ones and worn ones. And I photographed two boxes and made notes for sale. It was a bit rainy but not cold. Had a good day at work. Afterwards I headed over to Suquamish where Aaron made pork in the crock pot with cheesey polenta. Yum yum, so good! And we played Pandemic! Good game.

Had an easy drive back, but got back late so I tucked in to bed.

Friday:

Did a bit of design work from home and went and deposited by paycheck. And went back home and preordered a ticket to see Whiplash at the Starlight Room. It's a very small cozy theater venue. All chairs and sofas and things. I think only about 35 people are seatable there. Gotta preorder!

This late arrival couple couldn't find a seat together, so I traded mine so that they could be next to each other. I told them "I know how you kids like to hold hands" and they got a good laugh about that. And my new seat was a better one! The lady behind me complimented me on my immediate swap with the couple. No biggies, but I am bragging about how good of a person I am so err.

Whiplash, a movie about a jazz drummer and his sociopathic teacher, was AMAZING! Intense, beautiful, just great. Excellent talent and well filmed. Highly recommend it if you are in the mood for something excellent and intense.

And The Babadook and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night are coming to The Dragonfly. Stoked on that.

Got some errands for tomorrow. Weekend!

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

tea, scramble, udon, repeat

It's not yet Midnight and I'm blogging! Getting better at this thing! Well I gotta leave early tomorrow to run an errand. Got a book to pick up at Liberty Bay Books.

Today I rolled out of bed and meandered my way through my job's duties. Edited photos. Edited the document. Getting a better sense of time per item. I want to ask about researching prices because some things just look like they could be ball parked. But yeah got a good chunk of work done.

Had noodles and a scramble. Kept wrapped in my blanket. Drank juice. Boogied to music.

back on the BI

Working on site! I was by myself for the most part (Larry came and went) but it's all good. I was just photographing items and weighing them and measuring them. Not conversational work. This time around I am timing how long it takes to photograph and weigh and measure the items, so we can better calculate how to charge. It is fun being in on the start. I also started a new item spreadsheet so that we can work towards the most concise one to have to upload it to the store. Better and faster!

Had a nice drive in and back. Listened to podcasts and The Unbelieveable Truth and music. Had a nice day of it. I'm at home tomorrow researching the items I photographed. Working on more time estimates. Right now it's ~4 minutes of work per item.

At home I watched Broadchurch and Parks and Recreation and chilled.

Tomorrow is Wednesday. A week later is my birthday. I have no plans thus far.

ahhh I turn 27 in a week

oyster shell white

Had a good sleep in. I didn't set my alarm, so it was very solid. Normally I do set my alarm just to sort of pretend to keep my body at a time. Gotta get up early tomorrow to work on site, so that's a thing.

Dad made hashbrowns and eggs and toast for breakfast and I made myself a coffee. Yum nums. I helped haul up some oyster shells for the driveway so that some of the softer bits can get some traction, and also just so that it looks nice and you can see the path better in the dark.

Ma and Pa left when it was still light.

I couldn't find the car wash soap. Not a single bottle anywhere on site! Lots of other bottles of cleaning stuff, but no bubbly for cars! Still I got my car wet and wiped it down. Should help it not look so ridiculously dirty. And I cleaned the inside of the gas, which was long overdue to happen.

In the evening, I amassed more emails for the contact list. Got a good chunk of local stagers. Only scratched the surface of interior designers, but stagers are a priority and all that.

Gotta tuck in early. Gotta get up early.

arrrrrugala

Friday:

Took my trash to the Quilcene dump. 6.15 for the whole can! Three bags. Not by weight. So much cheaper than trash pickup (unless it was a quarter a week, but I doubt it is). I was pretty stoked on that. And I got to put it in a trash compactor. And I put my recycling in the bins too. I deposited my paycheck. I got food at QFC. Unfortunately I was hungry, so I got more junk food than I needed. But got regular food too. Anyway. Felt good to knock out a bunch of errands.

Hermited it up for the rest of the night.

Saturday:

Slept in. Tidied. Washed jeans. Celia and I went to Port Townsend to see Big Eyes at the Uptown Theater. It was very understated for a Burton film. Really beautiful sets and costumes and Amy Adams is great, as always. Celia made delicious garlic popcorn that we snuck into the theater. Hee hee hee.

Sunday:

Ma and Pa visited! Are visiting! They are sleeping up at the garage, so I can stay up late and work here. Working from home is going good, things were simplified a bit. I think it's going well. Got a lot of numbers together. I cleaned up, tidied. We did a little hike, and Ma and Pa and Celia went one way on a fork and didn't tell me and it took them a while to notice I wasn't with them (and I hollered to locate and no response). Celia texted me to find where I was at (up the stairs of the path). Dinner was salad nisewozz. Not now it's spelled, but I prefer it that way. It was put out on that cool platter that I got from work. With the eggs and veggies painted on it. Nice to eat all that healthy food. And then we had cake and tea and watched Big Trouble. Beloved wonderful comedy. Excellent ensemble cast.

Ma and Pa and I listed to the Nubbins story from Risk! and watched Galavant. Then they went up to the garage and I knocked out some work.

take out the trash

Past three days have been pretty ho hum. I finally wrangled that auction house slip and the items that go with it. Took a while. I've been googling local resources and organizing. Working mild!

I'm out of eggs and bacon, so I gotta leave the house tomorrow to get more. And deposit my paycheck. And take out the trash. So I guess I'll change out of the same pair of pajamas I've been wearing for the past three days.

Ha ha, just kidding! I totally shower and changed every day. But I had hella cramps for a bit so that debilitated me for a chunk of the day.

I lit a fire. I read a bit of Carsick. I made a few more hot toddys. I need to get more hot toddy fixings (see: whiskey).

Oh! Recycling, I gotta take that out too.

But yeah, three days on site. But I don't feel like I've gone hermit loony.

Oh! The Quilcene garbage drop off is open tomorrow 1-5. So that's a thing!

Hmmn. I should be drawing more. I've got this lazy streak happening.

part time hermit

Sunday:

Slept in. Had pasta. Learned how to make a Hot Toddy. Drank one of those. Generally loafed about. Tidied up. Watched The Red Chapel and The Comeback. Did several loads of laundry (one smaller for heavier/red clothes, one larger for lighter/dainty things) so that was productive.

Monday:

Tried and failed to get up at a decent hour, and then the internet wasn't connecting which made it impossible to get any work done, so I watched Galavant and stoked a fire and ate some udon and in the evening Celia and I called technical support and somehow setting up a second network gives me good internet? To do this, we connected the old router and that sends out wifi strong enough for me to get it here, and it's strong enough to work pretty darn good. I guess I should just be happy the wifi reached 400 feet at all. I wish there was a way to set up a wifi hub at this house without just having to sign up for a whole 'nother account.

Anyway, yeah. No work from home today...tomorrow. I'll get on it tomorrow. My burned finger is slowly but surely healing up. My house is piping hot.

Sunday, January 4, 2015

the two week hermit begins

Friday:

Slept in. Had a scramble. Worked from home on client billings. Got those spreadsheets together and sent off. Whoo!! I watched a whole bunch of The Comeback which was tragic and difficult to watch but damn it's good once you get through the heartbreak. Didn't leave the house. But I am amassing a to do list.

Saturday:

Helped Celia set up the new modem, and now our internet is faster! WHOO!! Celia didn't agree to my wifi password suggestion though. In the afternoon I made a much needed grocery run, so now I'm set on eggs and bacon and carbs and juice. Celia made lamb curry and I gobbled down two bowls with tea and we watched the first two episodes of Sherlock because Celia has never seen them! I got massively congested and I'm just now breathing right. So allergic to cats but I love cuddling them.

Now I'm onto the second season of The Comeback. Monday errands will be depositing my paycheck.

The Countdown to The Countdown

December 31st:

Last day of work of the year 2014. Oh where I was at the start of this year. A different state. A different climate. A different job.

At work I did some research and updating of the shop. For the next two weeks I will be working from home so we took the time to come up with tasks for me to do that would be equal to 60 hours of work. I should think of some errands to run, like getting a Washington driver's license and a PO Box and other stuff. Going on the Elendil? It was a shorter work day.

I met Karen at Cups for a little New Years rendezvous. She gifted me an Ivar's Cookbook!!!! Now I can make fish and chips the good proper delicious way. Such a great gift! I presented Karen with some vintage Junko Koshino scarfs (I wonder where I got those, hmmm). We got doughnuts and a restaurant let us huddle in their seating waiting area for warmth while we chatted and caught up. She has some vacation that overlaps with my work from home time, so hopefully she'll come hang and we'll chat and be good ol' gal pals like the good ol' days.

From Poulsbo I went to Suquamish and met Aaron for New Year's festivities. Festivities being dressing nice and staying in and drinking some Lagavulin and making homemade spaghetti sauce to go over pasta and watching some tv and ringing in the new years with kisses from Banjo the dog.

January 1st:

I stayed over in Suquamish. I bought a Viking Doughnut at Stuy's so that was split for breakfast. Aaron made coffee and we watched the Bad Blood episode of The X Files because that is the best episode of anything ever. I departed around noonish. Oh! And there was cheesecake, the rest of which was gifted to me. Back at home I ate about a third of the cheesecake while soaking in a hot bath whilst reading Bobcat and Other Stories. A great start to the year. I loafed around the house by myself. Ate popcorn for dinner. Washed dishes.

Got some stuff to do tomorrow, hopefully it won't be too harrowing and number focused. Then it is the weekend! Already!

My birthday is in 20 days, Eeek!
