Beck

I'm in Seabeck in my old new bed. This is such a squishy mattress. Kinda miss the squishyness because the main one is a bit stiff. Hmmm.

Anyway, pretty easy going day. Slept in. Talked on the phone with Ma. Tidied up the house. Then I got to packing up. Clothes, toiletries, makeup, entertainment, technology. One big bag, a backpack, and two totes with my purse. Not all that bad? Also my cooler, because it's a good medium sized one. That cooler is more well traveled than the majority of Americans.

Listened to Emily Heller's excellent album on the way over. So good. Had a nice easy drive. Took it slow, cuz it's cold. Around freezing. It's not supposed to get over 60 in Redwood City for the following week, which is a bummer. I'd like a hotter Thanksgiving.

I finished up my yakult. Damn I love that stuff. And while I bought Yan Yan, I haven't eaten it yet. I'll save that for the road.

So now we shall be off for two and a half days of driving. Hurray.

I am massively behind! I'm sorry!

Thursday:

Worked on site doing lots of photos and research and computer stuff. Did my hair in a sloppy updo to cover up that it was unwashed, though I don't think it was that convincing. Got my payday, so I deposited that on the way home into the ATM (booyah!) and swung through Silverdale and did some errands and then headed home.

Friday:

Rolled out of bed at a somewhat decent hour, and did some work from home, then left for Seabeck to check on what was shaking out there. ANNNND I forgot the keys to Seabeck, though really that just left me down the mailbox key. I could undo the gate and house no problem with the secreted away keys. So I got the house warmed up, turned up the hot tub, and called Karen to see what pizza she wanted. I ordered Italian and breadsticks from Seabeck Pizza, and when I picked it up there were some Girl Scouts pushing cookies, so I hit up the ATM and slapped down a $20 and bought five boxes: two thin mints, one samoas, one trefoils, and one tagalongs.

Unfortunately the hot tub never got hot enough for us to properly enjoy it, but we did enjoy the pizza and we talked at length about all sorts of things. J'adore Karen.

I went back home to sleep for the night.

Saturday:

Slept in, then I packed up all the trash and recycling, and hauled it to the dump. 6.15 for the can, and all the recycling in their proper containers. The lady at the dump is so chipper. It's been 5-6 weeks since my last dump run. Devoted composting works wonders!

And I continued driving to Seabeck, and got the mail (more books!) and snacked on some of the snacks at the house for a while, then packed up and went back home. Oh! On the way to Seabeck I stopped at Big Beef for a photo because the sun was setting and it was SO BEAUTIFUL!!

Back at home, I started a fire and made a hot toddy and sat and read This One Summer till it was time to sleep.

Sunday:

Right after breakfast, Celia texted me asking to ask if I could help with some first aid, so I dashed right over! She had cut open her finger, so I helped compress a bandaid (after looking into the wound to see if it needed more cleaning). So happy I'm not squeamish.

I gave her some girl scout cookies to help the healing process.

Then I took a lengthy bath and finished reading This One Summer.

Then I worked on more work from home stuff. Had dinner courtesy of Celia.

Lit another fire. It's going out now, but the house is warm enough.

Tomorrow is a work from home day.

time is running out

uHG gawd I just became massively congested. Don't know why. Maybe the ice cream? Though that doesn't make me congested. I've gone through several hankies now. Gross.

Worked from home today. Researched jewelry to the best of my ability based on the photos at hand. Celia gave me one of her treasured time honored seasonal wreaths. It's hanging in the dining room. I'll snap a good picture of it come morning.

Yesterday I went in to Poulsbo and worked on a gift. And I made a little something for me. Don't want to be to vocal about the activity on account of it being a gift, but I had a good time just listening to podcasts and doing my own thing. Swung by Seabeck and saw Ma and Pa (who went to a Star Trek convention today and didn't even ask me if I wanted to join them! How rude). I put a few ornaments on the tree and had salad and microwave chicken pot pie and chocolate. I gave mom my MP3 player, the new one because I was able to revive my old one.

Got home lateish, slept in. Got a late start on work. Now to tuck into bed and try to get some rest because my sleep schedule is all whack. Another exciting week! Christmas is almost here and I'm behind on EVERYTHING!

back in the 'Beck

I need to get back int he daily blogging habit, now that I have regular access to wifi! Wifi, a bath, a bed, food. All that good stuff. I am in Seabeck, Washington for the next few days. Then I pack up and go to Pulali and drop my things off there, and then I go down to Santa Cruz, get my stuff, and come up and settle in and then I go and find a job so I can buy things! And pay bills!

My parents were camping at Takhlakh Lake near Mt. Adams in Washington and I set out on the 25th to meet them. I went up I5 then over onto 90 and then 23, and boy were the roads bad! Just miles of dirt washboard. Way worse than Theodore Roosevelt NP. Come on! My poor car, it has been through so much and right here at the end, this? But I got to the campsite and was greeted with much enthusiasm. We had ribs for dinner and cocoa and did a bit of kayaking on the lake and there was an osprey.

I set up my tent and slept in there, instead of in my parent's motorhome. A nice conclusion to the trip. One final use before it gets put away for a little while. It has served me well, if only I could have pitched it more often. I was woken up on the 26th to a plate of bacon coming through my tent flap. Mom knows me so well! I got up for pancakes, and we took a little stroll to the lava flow and meadow. Up on the flow was a gorgeous view of the areas and the mountains. Glad to be back in Washington.

I was first to depart. Got some gas and the gas station had cheerwine! Booyah! Gas and snacks and away I went. Not many hours of driving to do. Got a speeding ticket. 66 in a 55. I was unsure what the speed was and was keeping pace with the rest and I got nabbed out of the lot. I think I'll ask for a court date. I have the time to show up whenever and argue it down. Clean record, first infraction, and I thought it was 65. 48 states and I get the ticket in Washington! Bah! Oh well.

So I5, then 101, then 3? I suppose. Allyn towards Bremerton then into Seabeck and home. Did laundry. Unpacked. We ate dinner and went to bed.

Today, the 27th, I gave my car a lengthy car wash. I worked hard to scrape the bug splat off. It was really securely on there. But oh on a whole my car looks so much better! And it will be tops once I can empty it out and give it another vacuum. It's not many miles from a quarter million now. I helped Dad with the electrics of the van. He said that if he took a trip like mine, he'd be sleeping for three days.

Dinner was clams and garlic bread with garlic butter popcorn for dessert. We watched the So You Think You Can Dance finale and oh they are all such precious darlings. I wish they could all win! Such great talent.

Oh I also went into town with mom for groceries.

So a few more relaxing days in Seabeck. And by relaxing I'll be helping out around the house and with getting the van ready to tow a Uhaul up from Santa Cruz.
