another day ends

The thing I like about Homeland, is that the class has a lot of variation in each day, so it passes fast. It isn't some long one subject/topic class.

Man, I love sleep. Didn't sleep during class. Didn't even come close. I had soup and bread and an Odwalla for lunch. Mmm protein disguised as chocolate milk. Sat in library next to Patsy.

First bit of Homeland: watched Commune, a little documentary about the Black Bear Ranch commune. Interesting, though it didn't make me want to join a commune.

Then Phil gave his presentation about artists that do "social practice" type of work. Namely they make art to draw in not art people, or make art for not gallery. He had good things to say, wasn't totally in favor of his artists work all the time. We then got into a discussion about if elitism isn't all that bad of a thing. Basketball fans are allowed to get into it, so why do artists have to behave and try and be all accessible and stuff?

Then it was project time! Joey had a photo collage of all the things he loves about America that are typically regarded as unseemly. Like the Budweiser twins, big burgers, pizza, grills, motorcycles, etc. Travis did an installation where he played video from Google Earth and pretended like it was voice activated, and he gave us pizza and doughnuts. Mmm! Gabi also had an installation. She had a stationary exercise bike and a looping video of this utopia drawing of hers, so it simulated like you were cycling towards it, but it would vanish.

We were left only forty minutes left for Ecotopia discussion, but it was a good one.

Yoga had breathing and then leg work.

Got home. Chatted with Madeline on the phone for a while. Mmm.
