clean shirts

What an artistically productive day! I got three out of eight on my new card carved. It's looking...well it's in the middle right now so it's hard to visualize it being done but I think once I get eight out of eight, it'll look smashing! And there will be spot color to be done. Either way, I'm excited.

And I drew a quickie portrait. And a comic. Three different genres of art! Woohoo! Didn't tackle cleaning like I ought. Ma and Pa came over for a little bit too, but mostly to hang out with Celia.

Nice little weekend. Now to tuck into bed early because I have an early morning tomorrow.

:p

Had a pretty good day at work. Did two full room turns, including the newly painted room. I also juggled the laundry timing alongside the room cleaning really well. Did a fluff too and the veranda door had blown up. I reported this to the boss so he knew that if the guests said their stuff had been ruffled, it was because of the door.

I listened to hella podcasts. Then it was a weekend! I have five shifts in a row which sucks because I can't take part in the caucus on Saturday. Celia provided with salad and toast dindins and I drew a comic and it was a nice night.

I slept in, woohoo! Drew the comic earlish in the day, did another sketch, then got started on March's linocut card! It's a dog design, featuring eight very specific dogs. I don't know how I'll incorporate the text as the plan has changed, but I'm pretty happy with how it is shaping up. Got the head shapes all carved out so I just need to be very careful in the next stage. I think on Saturday I'll cruise by an art supply shop and get a new ink pad, because I think the one I've been using is starting to dry up. Course I've used that bad for the Pulali Point prints (100+) the Iris Street House cards (25) the January card (20) and the Valentine's card (25?). So that's a lot of impressions to make, moreso than usual for a stamp pad that would only ink small size stamps. Anyhoo! Yeah, need to get some more ink and maybe count how much bristol paper I have in the block because I might want to print a bunch of these dog cards.

Have a good night. :)

schnitzel and noodles except there were no noodles

Fun day! I went to see Zootopia with Ma & Pa. We caught the 1:30 matinee and with more discounts on account of it being Tuesday and Mom and Dad having a regal card, all three tickets were fifteen bucks! But we got those after being stuck behind some lady taking forever to get the five dollar ticket, instead of six dollars. Like damn. She had no awareness.

Zootopia was cute. Nice character designs and animation. The trailers for the other kid movies were like gah though. Liek Angry Birds? ANOTHER Ice Age? Blueeehhh.

After the movie we went to Tizley's and I got the spaetzle and schnizle and salad and a cider. Yum yum I love that spaetzle. Afterwards I picked out some of the dirt from under my wheel wells because I didn't want to pick it out at home, though I guess I could have done it outside at home. My mind was in the mode of "don't want to mess up the garage" but dirt is easily swept out. Errr. Hope the big pile of dirt I left behind wasn't too much of a mess if someone has to clean that. Maybe it'll blow away in the night? And there's still more dirt to be cleaned out. It's really packed in.

Bee class was good! It's still such an onslaught of information. There's a second class that's four hands on classes coming up. I'd have to ask for all the Saturday's off. Maybe I should just find a mentorship. Problem with irregular hours: hard to plan long term around and I'd have to ask for allowances. I don't want to be the tricky one to time shifts. Have to decide pretty quick too, as it starts on the 9th. It's only four classes though. Hmmm.

Made a quick Trader Joe's run and went home.

Pitch didn't go through but I got a very nice email back. Might be able to pitch at a later date if I think of something good.

red coat, on a boat

Had a nice little shift yesterday. Turned a few rooms, other people did laundry and beds. It was an hour shorter to leave time to get to the dock to ride on the Adventuress, a 1913 schooner! Whee! Unfortunately I didn't bring a scarf or hat. I moved them into my closet so they weren't laying out in eyesight, so I neglected to bring 'em. Oops. But I had a raincoat and middle layer. Still chilly. I met Ella one of the other coworkers. It was a business outing, so bosses and coworkers and coworkers family was there too. What a nice thing to do! The schooner was great. New boom, good crew. We sailed back and forth out from Port Townsend. Saw the inn from the water. It was so cold though. Easy to forget how chilly it gets on the water. No buffer. There were coffee and cookies provided, that was great. Mmm. I had some nice chats with people and bosses and all that. Fun to see people out of work. I was wearing my Kate Beaton shirt too.

I took lotsa photos and lotsa selfies. The sun came out for a little spot, and there was a full rainbow from town to water. Beautiful.

On the way home I ate a gas station hot dog and cranked the car heat. I drew my comic and worked to get warm. Didn't catch a cold though, whoo!

Today I worked a laundry shift. So much hauling up and down. Laundry can get heavy, especially when you are holding a folded stack together. Many muscle groups. And Raechel taught me how to fold fitted sheets! I need a bit more practice, but that's a great thing to learn probably. A fleece blanket took damn forever to dry though. Bluh. I took a hard nap when I got home and pitched my Hermit Life comic to a web publication asking for submissions. Chatted with Celia who shared chocolate. Mmm.

Tomorrow I'm seeing a matinee with Ma & Pa and bee class. Nice day out of the house! Then I work on Wednesday, nothing Thursday, then Saturday through Wednesday and then three days off!

Still waiting on that refund check like damn.

Saturday is D&D too. I'm going to be one tired Trill!

keep it clean

On Friday I went off to hang out with Karen and bebbeh and co. I dropped off a few things at the ol' Quilcene USPS. Thea and Roldan were at Karen's. We had a nice sit around and baby talk and regular talk. We five plus Rob went for a walk around the block. Absolutely beautiful view of Mt Rainier and we could even see Seattle from up on high. I drew my comic. Didn't hold Lily this time, but next time I will probably. Made a Trader Joe's run on the way home. Tried out the dill pickle popcorn. Won't buy another bag.

Helped Celia in the evening then went to bed late and slept in late.

I scrubbed the sinks and toilets. Swept the kitchen. I hung my black, red, and white mod bolt of fabric in the library. It covers three of the four existing drapes. I just clipped it up along with those. It's a nice bold flair. And I switched out the table cloth on the circle table, and some of the fabric draped on chairs. Actually. I wonder if I should get more drape clips and put the mod cloth up in the master bedroom as a drape. The ones here don't cover the whole thing, but the red and white isn't opaque and I don't want to cut it just yet. Hmmm.

Bursts of cleaning productivity. I also put away a bunch of clothes and made my bed nice and proper with a few less blankets. Want to be one of those people with a more organized house. I want access to all the drawers in my desk. And I want to pull the rest of the books from the blue shelf, but I need boxes to put them in.

Anyway. Clearing house.

the only ship I'm on is the friendship

Yesterday was exhausting! Bonus hour shift. Turned three rooms, including the top two ones which are extra tiring because of the stairs. Lots of stuff to bring up and down stairs. And I did some laundry. And had a second cuppa coffee. But I was still wiped when I got home and took a nap. Then drew a comic. Helped Celia. Got tired again and slept in.
Ma and Pa came over for a second to plant some things. There was a noise in the woods that I thought was an alarm, but Mom whipped out her bird app and played some bird calls and declared it a pigmy owl. And they identified the birds on my log as corms.

I did some laundry and dishes. Drew a few things I can't post just now. Yawn. Sleepy. Night.

Ohh! My friend Madeline's brother Jackson is doing a GoFundMe for this dance program. I kicked in a little, as should you! Hopefully you can kick in more than me though. He's a great kid, though now I guess he's all grown and stuff. I just remember going out for froyo with him and we both put our unused napkins away in our back pockets at the same time and in the same way. He always remembers me, even if it's been years between crossing paths! Anyway, hope he gets all the moolahs.

mmm chocolate

The chocolate was pretty good, though in retrospect maybe something had happened to it, and that's why it was left behind. But if it had been fouled, wouldn't it be in the trash? Anyway. Work was good! Turned three rooms, though I didn't make the beds or do the linens, Raechel did it. Without having to do the beds, it's really just cleaning the bathroom and putting stuff back. Did a fluff too. I think I'm managing to make fewer trips up and down. Doing better about making sure I have everything on hand. I did some windows too, and was shown by Raechel how to do the laundry. Just a preliminary, and I was debriefed on towel folding. I worked one hour longer than I usually do, and I have work tomorrow too. Two nice long shifts! Though not extremely long.

Went to Seabeck for a real quick scarf down dinner. Picked up my mail, got two cool things! And two not so cool things. Have a tax remnant to do.

Then it was bee class! So tired by this point in the day. Learned about swarming. Then sat in on a bee association meeting, which was held in the church hall meeting area instead of Stedman's. It just went over some meeting stuff. Then it was finished. Filled up my tank, went home, well got Celia's mail then went home. Swung by Celia's. Scanned the comic I drew during bee class. Now I'm ready to crawl into bed. Nighty night.

girl power

The past 48 hours have been exhausting! Work had me turning two rooms and doing the usual downstairs sweep and vacuum. There was more scheduled but the howling weather prevented me from doing it (outdoors stuff). I was tired from the time shift too. But not as tired as I was expecting to be.

Wind bustled me on the drive home. I went slow and steady and all was good, till the turn off 101. Then branches were down. I stopped to pull some out of the way. I did not pull the downed powerline out of the way. I just verrrrry carefffuuullly drove around it. And it took nearly 25 minutes just to get down my driveway. Lots of stopping to haul multiple branches out of the way to free up the road. And I still had to pull a few from my undercarriage when I was done. The road was covered. And the power was of course out, and obviously would be for a while. I got a fire going, had the one beer remaining in my fridge, snacked and settled in. I went to bed early hopeful that the power would come on at 4am and wake me, but no such luck.

At 9ish I brought the generator down from the garage and got it going on the second pull. See comic:
Now you've seen the comic. I sat outside for a bit and charged my phone (after plugging in my fridge). This is the first time I've bothered with the generator. I'm generally fine with allowing my fridge to warm up a little bit. So I got it going, got the fridge chilling, I did unplug it to make rice to make my "deconstructed sushi" snack (rice plopped in seaweed snacks, a carb loaded filler meal) then I plugged it back in. I made another fire and went through I think four loads of wood, maybe three. I walked (with Corbie) up the road, clearing more branches. Higher up it was pretty good, but there was a lot still to pick up and toss to the side. Power chugged back on at around 3 in the afternoon. 23 hours!!

I had to turn off the septic alarm, but there were not many lights left on. I had pasta for dinner, relaxed, helped Celia, drew a comic. I did one by the lantern light last night, but obviously I could not scan it.

So now I'm going to go to sleep. Tomorrow is a long day. I got a 10-4 work shift and then I haul over to Silverdale for Bee Class 6-8. I'm not going to be able to get a hive going this summer. It's too much financial commitment for me right now. BUT I can learn and can get space ready and learn more, and the class tuition covered membership in the bee society so I can go to their meetings. And maybe I can help someone with their bees and learn that way? Anyhoo. Yeah. It's too much for me to do right now. But that's okay. I'm glad I took the class as a primer.

Mom & Dad, will you be home 5:15ish? Maybe I stop by real quick and get my mail before class? Text me.

out in the woods

In all the hubbub and excitement of yesterday, I forgot to write I helped a guy jump his Winnebago! He flagged me down at the Bee Mill turn, and since the Cove was right there I figured he wasn't going to murder me (might be a camera, murderers tend to go for more isolated spots) so I helped him out. As I was pulling the backing away from the battery, he told me to be gentle with the lining. I was, but I also am not too in need of the car to be in mint condition. Later Celia mentioned that jumping a vehicle of a majorly different size might not have been good for my engine or something. Err. Well the car continues to run so...yeah? It took a few turns of his key but his car got running again.

Friday I chilled at home. I scrubbed the kitchen floor with Lysol. Yup, the job is taking over. I did laundry. I DID MY TAXES!! So now I wait for the return to get routed straight into my account. Hopefully. I wonder how long that'll take. Hopefully not too long, though my paychecks have started coming in. Looking forward to being solvent again.

Watched telly with Celia in the evening, then slept in. Also has biscuits and gravy. Not as good as I was hoping, but I also used packet gravy and can biscuits. Ate half the supply on Friday and the other half today. Erin stopped by for a bit to say hello. Met Allison, Celia's friend. Went to Dungeons and Dragons. We had a big battle with many enemies. I took a few hits. Got a few good wallops in with my mace. Did a lot of healing. I confused my AC with my health for a hot second, but didn't accidentally declare myself dead. Now I must sleep. Work tomorrow and I think I'm about to lose an hour to daylight savings. Uhg.

Welcome to the world Lily, we love you!

The power went out last night. Stayed off for about 12 hours. So yesterday I worked! Met Raechel who showed me some of the laundry ropes, but not all of them. She took care of the running of the sheets. I fluffed a room, and cleaned two more. The two were next to each other so I kinda tandem went back and forth on a few tasks. One of the rooms had a tub so that was the first time I cleaned a tub. Fun stuff! And the person checked in early, but at that point all I had to do was vaccume and dust. Had lunch. Did some more cleaning. And my shift was over! Hours are picking up. Tomorrow should be my first paycheck! I'm looking forward to having moneys. There are comics I wanna buy. On the way home I stopped by QFC. Bonus of this job: I get out pretty early and now I can run all errands after work. And I wasn't so pooped that I was dead woman walking in the store. I have been able to double up a lot of errands lately, which is nice. I never liked having to haul out for something that took less than 15 minutes to do. At home I worked on my comic, hung out with Celia, and when I got back to my house the power cut out. Damn. The wind was pretty kicking and the rain was coming down. Oh yeah, I also scraped out the ditches a little bit. Just to make sure.

And all day I was checking my phone for notifications about KB's bebbeh. No bebbeh in the morning or in the afternoon, but in the store it sounded like it was on it's way into the world and I hear my phone go off on the drive home and I pulled over to the side of the road and THE BABY WAS HERE! Oh my goodness and there was a photo and everything. The news is online from Karen & Rob so I think it's fine to blog about it. Don't wanna be that person that spoils the news for them, ya know? Anyway. Yay! 48 damn hours of labor. Poor gal. I stayed home, because after that she needed a good long sleep. No visitors.
Power was out here but not in Seabeck, so I packed a change of clothes and supplies and went out. I was still in my pajamas with a sweater over. In my jammies I hauled branches out of the way on the driveway, and hauled branches out of the way on Bee Mill Road too. Lots of branches. Celia informed me the Hood Canal Bridge was closed due to high winds, so I took the long way around South through Belfair. Not a bad drive on a good day, and even today the weather at that point wasn't so awful. Had some rain but yeah, it was pretty scenic. Listened to podcasts. Filled up in Hoodsport. Still in pajamas. IDGAF. Got to Seabeck. Showered. Dad made grilled cheese. I got delivery confirmation on my Radiotopia backer reward, and Ma and Pa were all "no way the mails here" so I went and got it myself and guess what, IT WAS THERE! My dazzle camouflage shirt and my 99% Invisible challenge coin. It's a hefty coin! Real cool too. Then I packed up again and headed out to Harrison to meet the wee baby.

Lily. Her name is Lily.

Karen's Mom Cheryl was there. I sat by Karen's side and I just loved Lily's little face. We talked baby things and bee things and life things and silly things and birth things and more baby things. Lily is hitting all good points thus far. She's a bit small, but her parent's aren't exactly giants so that's not unusual. I even was allowed to hold her! I held her neck securely and stared at her little face and told her we'd go have adventures and see mountains, and she opened her blue eye a bit and looked at me. And looked to the side. 24 hours old and she's already got throwing side eye down. Good bebbeh.

This is the first really emotional contact I've had to a baby. I've either been too distant to the parent or not in a place to really conceptualize baby having or just...I dunno. I don't hate kids like I used to. I'm not hankering to have them of my own but things have changed in me. Not all of a sudden but recently. I suspect I'll dote on Lily heavily. I already started with when it turned out none of the onesies fit for taking her home, I was like "I'll go get one!" because what an honor to buy the clothes she goes home in? And at Toys'R'Us (where KB&R said to go) they had buy one get one free. Of the newborn size with footies and a zipper, there was a gray one with small whales on it that I thought was cute (and the pocket said big time cutie, which I wouldn't normally like but "big time" will be nice for a pose with BT when he comes up, and it's not like "mommies little darling" saccharine tripe) and there was a soft dotted pink and white sort of terry cloth one, that had an embroidered flamingo and little flamingo faces on the footies. Super cute. So they had silly Trilly provided options. There were plain ones but naaah. This baby is getting birds or whales. But yeah, I was also the 4th other person to hold her! The 4th that wasn't a nurse that is. I stayed with Karen during a break between her mom visiting and when Rob came back from errands. When I left, Cheryl came back.

I've already pulled up my schedule to see when I could next see the wee one. But I also did promise Karen that I'll keep her a cool person, and not let her fall into the mom oubliette.

A lot has happened, I might draw extra comics tomorrow. Because I like representing stuff in comic form. I only have to reach a minimum of making some sort of drawing every day.

Such a big year and it's only the second week of March.

At home I finished the comic, and hung out with Celia and watched some Great British Baking Show while eating tiramisu.

An excellent day.

We love you baby!

Still no bebbeh! Should be here tomorrow sometime for sure. Probably.

Went to Harrison to chill with KB before Bee Class. She had been there a while, but looked great in her blue frock. We talked bees and funny things. Rob was there and...SHOOT I forgot Karen's friend who was there. I mean her name. Yeah. It was a nice birthing suite. Had a couch and a view and room for people. I had a salad and chips from the cafeteria for dinner.

I went to Bee Class and caught up on the tests I missed, and got 100% on the spring & summer bee tending tests. There's so much information and it's a bit dryly told. I need more graphics of what the different things they are talking about are. But if I reread it, maybe watch a few videos...I'll get more of it. It's supposed to be less effort than a dog, but there's a lot to be learned! I drew the first three panels during class (I paid attention!) and left the fourth for whatever was going on afterwards.

KB's labor had progressed a bit, and originally I was going to go home but I turned around and stopped by for a hot second. Just wanted to tell her I loved her and she was a superwoman. Next time I see her, there will be a little her.

I made a Target run earlier, and dropped off the kitty food, litter, and dog food at Celia's. She reimbursed. I did a litter scoop and said a few words but I was tired and didn't feel like majorly socializing. Auntie understood.

Finished comic. Now I'm chilling for a bit. I have work tomorrow! Then a few days of nothing, then D&D and then work again.

mr. fixit strikes again

Slept in. Rest of the weary, though I did spend a few hours lying awake thinking about stuff.

Baby is on it's way...tomorrow morning.

Today I helped Dad change the brakes on my car! We did the rear and front. Not worn to the bone, but in need of a change. 260k miles on the original pads! I helped hold the new pads on, and held the light. Dad did the hard labor. But I'm happy to learn more skills, or to observe the skills. Too bad repairing requires so many tools.

I got the news that the baby would be coming tomorrow, so I chilled at home. Movie night at Celia's was Hellboy on Netflix, because we couldn't get St. Trinian's 2 to play.

I'm trying to do better about flossing my teeth. They no longer bleed when I floss, so that's good.

Sunday, March 6, 2016

nice to work

Whew! Another day under the belt! Turned three rooms, though one didn't need a full turn and the other was dusted. Fluffed a fourth and did the main floors. Got to know my coworker Anika a little bit. She's pretty cool! Knows printmaking and comics! So rad.

Took a little rest when I got home. Ma and Pa are visiting. They did a recyling run while I rested. So nice of them! Dinner was chicken and polenta and greens consumed while watching St. Trinian's with auntie. Will watch the sequel tomorrow maybe. Unless I boot scoot boogie to see wee Baby Berger being born!

Comic got a bit rushed, but it is still a comic! Corbie sure likes to interrupt hugs.

Saturday, March 5, 2016

Helped Celia get her propane filled. Learned a thing! Pretty easy to get it filled and switch it over. Nice to learn life skills like that. Got up bright and early because she wanted to get it done early...but she was slow to get up. Still, nice to get going early. I'm tired now and have work tomorrow.

I did take a nap later in the day.

Averie and Muchim came over for dinner. Over to Celia's. There was a nice rice pork thing for dinner and a roast that was cooking. And had some bread with Brie. Nice little family hang out. We are making plans to see The Little Mermaid at the Mountaineers Theater when it rolls around.

Honey was super affectionate towards me. Corbie was in the way.

Nighty night.

power back, out of the house, in bed

Wednesday I slept in. Helped Celia a bit and then headed out. Did a lot of driving! I went to Bremerton and hung out with Karen (STILL NO BABY) and Rob for a bit. Picked up my Girl Scout Cookies. Nice little visit. Went to Seabeck, turned on the heat and opened the gate. Then I headed out to SeaTac to get Mom and Dad from the airport. I accidentally arrived first at departures (once I got the call that they'd arrived from where I was waiting in the cell phone waiting lot) then I arrived at arrivals. Got Ma and Pa back, and we went to bed. Nice and late return.
Mom and Dad brought me back a sloth towel (that the design looked like the money from Costa Rica that had the sloth on it) a sloth mug, a sloth sticker, a sloth coin purse, some money...anything else? Anyway, it was a good haul! An appreciated one! Ma and Pa are so good at bringing back good goodies. They showed me pictures and told me stories of their travels. I grabbed a few teacups and Dad checked out my brakes. Lots of hanging out. There was a poached egg with hollandaise sauce breakfast, and a hot dog for lunch. I went to Trader Joe's on the way back. Brought some stuff for Celia. Long day.
Slept in. Got an earlierish day tomorrow so hopefully that will get me on a good start for Sunday! Did my comic. Had some food. Didn't get the cleaning done that I wanted to do. Did look into my taxes though, and took a few steps on those. Got some stuff scanned for Celia. Hung out with Celia in the evening. Dinner was a beefy pasta. Dessert was bread with triple creme brie (that I got at TJ's). Yum! Brie is such good cheese. And the good first or last name of some talented actresses. We watched Pee Wee's Big Adventure, which Celia hadn't seen. Such a fun, charming film.

And now I sleep! Enjoy the comics.

downed

The wind howled ferocious and the power went out at around 3:20. I left early so that I could hang with Karen before Bee Class, but a tree on the road at the junction of Pulali and Osprey blocked the road. And it was far too big for me to even think about moving. Even if it hadn't taken down the power lines with live wires on the road, I couldn't have tried to saw it apart. It was big and blocking entirely and like I said, the lines were down. I could not leave. I could not see Karen. I could not go to Bee Class. I sent an email so Bee Class new I wouldn't be there. At 8ish I checked on the tree and it was still there (I called and reported the downed tree to PUD). No way I could have gotten out. There was a tree down at Geoduck, and I can only assume more as the PUD lady said "I'll put you on the list". So I lit a fire and by its glow I played Pokemon on the DS. Hung with Celia a little bit. Power came on right as I was tucking into bed.

Power went out right as I went to load my comic into Google Drive to put it on Instagram. Celia let me use her phone to take a picture. I don't like loading my comics too late in the day.

So now I'm catching up on the internet now that power is back.

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

another nudity in comics warning

Slept in. Had breakfast. Kept it real. Drew two comics. Washed my hair and used a nice conditioner sample that smells really good. Went over to Celia's and made up some popcorn for dinner. We watched Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day and Finding Vivian Maier. Fun cute movie, and great awesome documentary. FVM is on Netflix Instant, go watch it!

Night night.

first day at work!

First day of work! Boy howdy! I am tired! Looking forward to crawling into bed and dozing. Glad I have a slow start that ramps up. There's a lot to learn. Today I learned how to fluff a room, basically tidying up a room people are staying multiple days in, and to do a full turn with new sheets and towels and cleaning the bathroom. And vacuuming the hallways and stairs and mopping the hardwood. Lots of cleaning. There's laundry washing to learn and some other things. But there's also check lists! I should get a fit bit to track all my movement, because it's going to be a lot!

I cleaned up my purple Roos. They weren't that dirty to start with, a bit dusty. But not thrashed like my black Roos. So I cleaned the bottoms and designated them indoors shoes. Don't want to track in dirty that I'll just have to clean! Working just under five hours was really tuckering! I think I'll be doing a lot of 5 hour blocks, which is probably as much as the body can take. But that gives me time to do other things in Port Townsend. Getting out at 3-4ish is good.

Got home. Helped Celia a little bit. Then I sat on the couch and watched the Oscars. Hurray for Mad Max Fury Road winning six! Including Margaret Sixel!! And Brie Larson for Room, what a great performance! Pretty good awards given out, despite controversy.

Now to sleep. Got a busy week coming up, work aside!

Sunday, February 28, 2016

she did not name her baby that

Friday was gal time with the due any minute Karen! Met up in Silverdale to see a matinee of Deadpool at the Fancy AMC 8. Karen had never been and she oggled at the excellent seats that tilt up and back. Perfect seating for a pregnant lady! We had a pretty good lil time. I need to back a bag or make a list of things to have so I can hustle over when I hear she's going into labor. She's fine with me being in the waiting room, so if I can be there, I shall! Might stay over in Seabeck on Tuesday after Bee Class. Anyway. Went to Trader Joe's and picked up food for me and some supplies for Celia (reimbursed, natch). Went home. Hung out with Celia and got things squared away for her. Returned home and drew my comic.

Saturday! Slept in. Had bacon and eggy breakfast and tea. Though really by that point it was lunch. Did a quick Celia check in and then I was off to Dungeons and Dragons! A nice little session. Got some more battle experience in and saved a character from death and also did lots of healing. Getting the hang of it. Even with a few people (Anthony, Emerald, Martin) down, it was still a hearty lengthy number of people and it's tricky to get through stuff at a good pace. Checked in with Celia. Now I'm mellowing out. Gotta go to bed soon because I start work tomorrow, wheeeee!!!

Friday, February 26, 2016

that's the good stuff

Wednesday was an early start day. Had toast and made coffee and went and picked Celia up. We drove to the res to the office to get some paperwork for her medical stuff. Met some of the nice office ladies. And a guy helped Celia step over a ledge when I was busy parking the car. Nice fella!

Next up was Westsound Orthopedic Center Doctor Place. I didn't accompany Celia into her appointment (seemed private) so I sat in the waiting room and drew a comic and listened to a podcast. Afterwards we went through the Panera drive through and got lunch and I left Celia in the car at Artist's Edge where I got a brush pen and two new Tombow colors (I'm becoming a real sucker for lighter neutrals, though that gray is so good). None of these are expensive pens. Glad I never developed a bad Copic habit. Yikes.

I got cat litter from Target too (hella errands being run) and I nommed on my sandwich as we drove home and listened to 99% Invisible. Oh! Made a mail run too. I dropped Celia off and returned to my abode to relax. Getting home at 2ish after doing so much left me disoriented. I wonder what I'll be like when I adjust to the earlier shifts my job will bring me. Lots of rolling out of here at 9am, which I guess is when I left here for my old job. But there might be earlier days as well. Oh! And I was invited on a company activity. How fun! I really hope I do well in this job, because it seems like it will be a good fit for what I want from my life for the next year (i.e. money but not a total time suck so I can focus on rebuilding my portfolio).

Today (Thursday) I did a bit of afternoon help for Celia, then I went and mailed a few packages and I can't remember if the adhesive flap on one of them was properly secured so fingers crossed it arrives! It wouldn't be the worst thing if it vanishes, as it's some of the rose art supplies that I'm mailing to Ebin. A freebie gift, freely given to someone who could use it (not all the roses, but the supplies I won't be using). But I'd like them to get it.

And it was a beautiful day so I drove down to Hoodsport to fill up gas while listening to podcasts and enjoying the scenery. Bright blue sky, shining water. Just lovely. And gas was $1.95!

Did some evening Celia help and showed her funny videos. In a few hours she'll be picked up for her surgery. I'm not taking her. She'll be fine!
