Trying to use the internet. It's really bad and sluggish. Blugh. Applied to a sort of social mediay job. Pulled up a few "apply in persons" which I'll see about doing tomorrow. Pizza delivery? Could be fun. Get around the area. Though it is up in Sequim...but if it is only a few days a week? I can't be picky, I gotta get a job. Then I can work towards getting a better, closer job. And other stuff. I'm a good employee. I train well.
Anyway, worked on weeding through job postings. And turned the skull pendant I got in South Dakota into a cool big necklace. And chatted with Celia. And brought down some glasses. No fire stoking today.
I really liked today's Inktober drawing. See if you can find it because my internet is loading too slow for me to be bothered to find and download and copy it into here. I need to spend more time sitting and drawing landscapes and making art. Not having great internet is getting me away from the computer, so that helps.

visitors!
Brynne is downstairs, Andrya is upstairs, and soon I'll be over in the twin bed, reading and retiring to bed earlier than usual. But that is good because I've had a busy day prepping! Brynny is recovering from hip surgery, so I pulled down my mattress and plopped it on the fold out bed, so she wouldn't have to suffer on the thin makeshift mattress. Easy enough to get it down, but I'll need help returning it up to the garage.
I swept, I vacuumed, I dusted with that rotating duster, I organized, I put things away. I brought the road table up, and I brought the narrow brown shelves down and up, as they fit perfectly next to the long dresser. I put books in them, and put board games on the shelves where those books were. The house is really looking tops now!
Auntie and Andrya arrived at 5:30ish and got to making dinner of salmon and toasted olive loaf. Celia brought over a veggie medley and ice cream and bundt cake. Nums were had all around! Celia and Brynne lounged on the deluxe downstairs bed, and we all chatted. I drew my inktober. Now to bed with us all! Tomorrow is a new fun day!

hankies are my friend
Turned in a resume to an inn looking for a front desk person. Then I picked up some hankies at Quimper's. Is that the place that was where Swain's was? Anyway. hankie town!! I caught the matinee of Gone Girl at the Rose Theater. Damn. Rosamund Pike is just amazing in it. She is such a good actress and this movie just absolutely, brutally shows her range and skills. And it is a nice looking movie, well acted, well directed, well adapted all around, but DAMN Pike!
I got out of the theater when there was daylight, and drove into a gorgeous matte mottled sunset, and got home at dark. I washed my hankies (I handwash them in the sink with detergent, give them a little drying nudge in the dryer, and the let them hang on the rack for the rest) and washed the dishes. Tomorrow auntie and her friend are coming, so I'll be cleaning and tidying in the morning/afternoon. There isn't much to do, just general organization and getting some of my clutter out of the way, and doing a vacuum.
I stacked some brick shelves in the dog room, and now it looks super tidy! I didn't stack them that high, for fear of them maybe toppling back into the glass and, you know, shattering it.
A really productive day! Though just under 2 hours of it was spent driving to and from Port Townsend, which would suck to do if I got a full time job in Port Townsend, because there goes a decent chunk of my day. But hey money! I'll take it if it is consistent and it pays.

dust jackalopes
My internet has been on the fritz all day. Like, really slow and it takes a couple refreshes, but then it'll load real fast.
Anyway, I got out of bed before 10! I normally doze in for a while in the morning, then get up and get to it. This morning I woke up with a purpose: assembling my books into the library that they want to be.
Now Mom and Dad, if you don't like reading about me making changes, then maybe skip this entry.
Anyway, the first step was getting the clutter out of the way on the floor. I boxed it up neater, I boxed up the books on the stairs, and I put these boxes on the full bed in the nook. I might move them out to the big bedroom once Auntie and Guest are gone. Then I hauled down my boxes from the garage. I used the wheely cart for the garbage bins. It took I think 3, maybe 4 trips to get all the boxes down and up to my room. Then I pulled the books from the boxes and put them on my bed. I only needed 2/3's of the blue shelves for my books, because I just in turn filled up the boxes that had my books with the books from the shelves. Now they have been prepulled and are just waiting for the proper organization come the wall shelf construction that will happen...some time. I had a pasta break for lunch and an udon break for dinner and YES I am aware that those are both noodles.
Oh, I started the day by drawing Celia's cabin for Inktober.
Anyway, the dust that was kicked up was just blergg oh my god! I'm so congested, it's horrible. Four hankies soaked! I can now measure my congestion in hankie soakage.
My books are now in an order of comics, indie comics, non fiction, fiction in small paper back, fiction in hard cover, memoirs/biographies, and authors that I have multiple works of are in their little groups here and there (Palahniuk, Atwood, Gaiman, Roach). I'm pretty pleased to have a large dynamic ME element in the house. I'm excited to sort more books, so that they can be easily referenced. Plus there are some nice vintage books and literary journals, but they are stuffed in out of any sort of order.
Just going through the house will be good, because it stirs up the dust and gives the overall atmosphere a "touched" feel.
And Ma & Pa if you read this, I boxed the books with much care. Don't call me to nag at me.
Tomorrow I plan to take down some brick and board shelves for the mudroom, and set those up for things like shoes. And clean and tidy because hot damn I am having guests!!

inktober begins
I left the house today! Woohoo! Also the "h" key has stopped working on my keyboard so now I must copy and paste the letter when I want to use it. Well control+V it in. Oh well.
I left the house today! I went to get gas and groceries. I was almost running on fumes when I got into the station in Quilcene. Filled up. Very chaching but hey, I'm not filling up every day anymore! So that is a good thing. Then I went and bought some snap peas and instant coffee and emergen-c and shampoo and other stuff at QFC. It was a gray day. Gray and a little bit rainy. I finished reading Sharp Objects and made some brownies and gave Celia back her bowl.
October means Inktober which means an ink drawing every day. I did one today. I'll try to keep it up. I'll scan and post it....later.

dogs
Friday: slept in. My toe is less red and swollen but still hurts. Kept it bandaged. In the afternoon, Celia and I went for a little mushroom hunt. Got a few, but not many. The slugs got to others. Later I took another walk in the woods in the rain. It was very, very rainy. I watched Dear Zachary and it absolutely slayed me. What a depressing, tragic movie! Holy crap!
Saturday: Didn't sleep in so much, as I had to be out the door at 1pm to meet Ma and Pa for The Boxtrolls. I tidied up, had breakfast, and was out the door! I overshot Poulsbo because I didn't know there wasn't a Finn Hill Road exit heading to Silverdale, but I got there on time. Loved The Boxtrolls! So imaginative and fun and creative and just comical too. I loved the character designs. I recommend it! We got thai food for lunch and then back to Pulali! Showed Ma and Pa the dramatic changes I've made and then we settled in to watch Bubble Boy. One of mom's favorites. Tomorrow the raft is coming out of the water.
Here are some dog breeds that I think are cute:
- Kooikerhondje
- Norwegian lundehund
- Leonberger
- Schipperke
- Swedish vallhund

weekend
I'm spending the night in Seabeck. Going to Seattle & IKEA tomorrow with the parents! Going to get oodles of frames to put art in, woohoo! Frames and magnets.
Saturday at Pulali I counted how many frames I need for the postcards I've accumulated at various National Parks. And I dug out the list that has the sizes of currently unframed art on it. I don't want to put things on the walls that are not framed. I'm a grown woman! Who sleeps with an alpaca stuffed animal. But that is besides the point. I hauled my red chair up stairs, so now my computer desk has a better chair to computer on. I finished the cake. I read The Magicians. It was a very windy day. No seals on the beach. Slept in on Sunday. Hung out a bit with Celia and Corrine. Sorted through old photos. Then drove over to Seabeck in the evening. Next week will feature a job interview, an aunt moving in, a trip to Ikea, and more organization.
Hopefully it will include a job offer.

no not SPIDERS
SO I TOTALLY THINK I SAW A BROWN RECLUSE SPIDER. It was big and brown and by my computer and I screamed and fell backwards and when I googled brown recluse it looked like the picture and fucking goddamnit I don't want to be in a house with horrible spiders! Argh! Now I have to keep an eye out and carry a big dictionary with me. Gaaah.
In better news I had a very nice bath and really got into reading The Magicians. I tidied, unpacked, took boxes up to the garage, took down things. Had udon and banana and carrots. Not all at once. Cocoa too. Again, not all at once. Read on my couch. Finished off my ice cream.
And had that bad spider scare. UHG!!

Trillians gunna Trill
Got an interview on Wednesday! Whoooo!!
It was a rainy gray day. Not used to them just yet after all the sunshine of California. Still feels a bit special to experience. It'll probably feel not special after a solid week.
13 seals on the raft! It was riding low in the water.
I finished reading Relish by Lucy Knisley. Other Trillian not only has the same comic, but it is illustrated/signed by Lucy! Mine is fish & chips, hers is piroshki.
No Celia tonight. Just me and my comics and texting people. Texting helps keep the lonelies at bay.
Crossed a few things off my to do list. Always good to keep that on task. I'll work on doing more things off it tomorrow. Things are pretty scattered around the house right now. I want to get it more squared away, just for personal aesthetics and visiting relatives...shouldn't deal with my clutter.
Don't worry Mom, I haven't wrecked it!

oh hey there goes Wednesday
I think I'll work up the nerve tomorrow to call if they don't by the afternoon.
I can print colorful resumes with my printer, so that's something at least! I took down my sheets and some odds and ends from my various tubs of junk. It rained today so the watering of plants was super unnecessary. I had a scramble for breakfast and drank a pot of tea while sitting outside reading. That was a nice time. Right now I need to organize all the stuff I've taken into the house before I add anymore to it. Ebbs and flows.
Celia made burgers for dinner, and we drank tea and watched the first episode of The 10th Kingdom. Nice to have some company. Knowing someone is right there helps, considering how quiet and isolated it is out here.
When I look up "job listings in my area" I keep getting Kitsap and Seattle. NO! I don't want a 2 hour commute and I don't want to commit to Kitsap right now. Give me Olympic Penninsula!

trying to get back to the daily thing
I'm watching The Bourne Identity for the first time and it's so out of date, it's funny in some places. The old computers, the lack of smart phones, just...the datedness of an action movie that is now over a decade old. Ha. Also couldn't she cut and dye her own hair? Really? She could do that that herself.
I solved a Where's Waldo puzzle while eating my oatmeal and drinking my tea.
I hauled the empty tubs up to the garage. I hauled down sheets and some books. I watered the plants and put a little W on the calendar to mark when and that I did it. I swept the deck. I put the red shelf in a space in the closet. The things I have are smaller things. Nothing to really make a dramatic change to any one area. Like I don't have a big bright area to rug to counteract all the beige and brown and general fadedness of the house. My sense of decor leans to the bright. At least the walls have been painted yellow.
No word about an interview. Hopefully early tomorrow?
Had a scramble for a late lunch and bagel and shmear for small dinner and ice cream for dessert.

waarrkkkk says the seal
I really need to get back into the habit of blogging.
So! Tonight is my first night at Pulali all by myself. But that is getting a few days ahead of myself.
Friday:
Went into town with dad and did some shopping and accompanied him when he got some new glasses. Earlier in the day, I helped Ma and Pa make many quarts of apple juice. I fell right into the rhythm of putting the slices into the cuisinart and pulping them, and then putting the pulp into the press. It seemed to go faster, though we did spend many hours making the good stuff. Many manys make light work I suppose.
At 7ish I departed for Tacoma to see Meghan for her birthday! I arrived early when she and her boyfriend had gone to grab some stuff for the party. She didn't anticipate people arriving on time (only three other people were on time like I was). Met a good amount of people whose names I've forgotten, but they were all really nice and easy to talk to. My trip now gives me so many frames of reference for places people are from and various things. I.e. "what exactly is Wall Drug?"
I saw a bit of the northern lights. It was just a few tendrils of green. Not totally epic, but not too shabby.
I got very congested by the smoke of the fire. It really made my eyes water and my nose run something awful. Meghan has loaned me a nice hankie, which I will hold as ransom till she comes and visits me at Pulali.
Saturday & Sunday:
I packed up my clothes, my technology, my girly soap, and all my other things. Mom and Dad drove off first in their Prius, and a little bit later I drove off in mine. I put some gas in the tank. Nice to not be filling up every day. My first unpacking wave will be the Santa Cruz stuff. That is a nicely paired down assortment of my stuff. Fewer clothes, fewer books, though a jumble of organization. Once I get that sorted, then I can work on the stuff that didn't make the Santa Cruz cut. More books, more clothes, more this and that.
Celia made a spicy lamb stew for dinner. It was good, though very hot to eat. I'm better with spicy though not that much better.
Linda and her friend Barbara joined us (and Celia of course) for breakfast. French toast, bacon, many juices, fruit, cheese. Lots of good stuff and conversation about Cape Verde, where Barbara was a Peace Corps leader.
In the afternoon, Ma and I got in kayakas, Celia in a row boat and Dad went trawling for fish. He didn't catch any, just puttered back and forth. Dinner was early and was several salads and meat discs (disc of meat? what was my quip again?) and Ma and I made a food run to stock my pantry for the near future. Then we three chilled out with books till it was time to go to bed.
Monday:
Ma and Pa departed early and I slept in a bit more. Then I got up, made a to do list, had a muffin and some tea, and got to to-doing it! Organized more clothes, set out the printer and scanner, folded laundry, organized towels, unpacked this and that, more unpacking, put my old work hoodies in a plastic bin, had pasta for a late lunch, hung a few pieces of art work...it's coming along. I have my Tetris shelves up, in a high vertical arrangement. I commandeered a little bit of a mostly unoccupied shelf for the initial books I've pulled out of storage.
Just gotta keep working on it, and keep an eye on my phone while I wait to hear about getting an interview. I think I'll write a new to do list with things undone from today on it, and some new things, and keep working at crossing off those things!
I need to make up a chart of regular house & estate chores. Like watering the garden every few days, doing this thing every day, this thing every week. It's a lot of responsibility!

miss fisher and friends
I’m at Pulali
Point for the weekend. I’ve put some things away in the drawers and bathroom
cabinets. I have books to unpack here and there. I wonder how long it’ll take
me to get settled when I get my stuff from Santa Cruz. Books, clothes, art,
things, this, that. It’ll be good to have someone living here.
Didn’t take all
my stuff from Seabeck. I’m not soloing it here just yet. Sounds like there are
job prospects here and there. Hopefully it won’t take me so long to get a job.
I like working and I like money to buy things.
Maybe Celia and
I can start some bee hives!
I unpacked and
had two bowls of tasty chowder for lunch. And salad and burger and s’mores for
dinner. Celia came over and brought ice cream. Now Ma, Pa and Auntie are
watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. I’m working on my first blog at
Grandma and Grandpa’s desk. I’m not sure where my main studio space will be. I
guess this area will be my dry sketching computer space and the garage will be
the larger space for my skuzzy desk and chair. I want my books to be in a place
where they will stand all pretty and not get musty and mildew. I wonder how
this place will be to me as I’ll be living here.
It’s so
gorgeous.

art! love art.
I bought an etching from Dominic and it arrived! I love my Spaceman print. I had a frame and matting that fit perfectly too, which is awesome. Hung it up next to another print I've bought, which fit nicely into this very suiting frame I got on sale from Target. Yay, art! Working on my collection.
Work was pretty good. Cleaned stuff. I burnts some screens, and managed to reclaim a small stack at the end of the day. Gotta have the time to get screens back in the exposure room! We can't just print and print and print. The design we are running right now is pretty neat.
I came home to another gift exchange box! The last one! It contained Breaking Bad candy and stickers. I love stickers!
I hung up some art and tried to get the TV to work, but the cables were a mess. Couldn't get the audio to come through. Tried lotsa different red and white connections but not a one of them worked.
Oh well.
Mom. I do have a window that looks outside, just outside into the back yard and there is a big tree that sort of blocks the light. In that previous photo, it is reflecting my closet doors.

I should change my address...
Ohhh a long day at work. Counted in sweatshirts and caught them. Then I relocated to chopping vinyl stickers and weeding even more vinyl. So much vinyl. And it had lots of little tricky bastard bits. UHhhhg. The worst lettering. Just lots of little lines and hard to peel properly. Annoying. But it gave me plenty of time to listen to The Wise Man's Fear, so that was great! Yay audiobooks!
Got home tired. 2/3's of my Breaking Bad gift exchange arrived! Did I mention I did the Breaking Bad gift exchange? I now have a mug and a poster. There is a third thing. Three separate package tracking items. Ohhh can't wait.
And my copy of Tobolowsky's The Dangerous Animals Club arrived. So many books....so much time on the Internet. Almost done with Gulp though. Very interesting book about digestion. I'm to the chapters about pooping, and thankfully my coworker is willing to talk about...the book with me. Couldn't deal with working with a normal person.
I moved some empty boxes into my trunk. Now my room seems pretty well set up. I'll work on it some more this weekend.

I moved some empty boxes into my trunk. Now my room seems pretty well set up. I'll work on it some more this weekend.

it's oh so quiet in Live Oak
First day commuting from the new house. It wasn't that bad! It was maybe a couple minutes longer with a few more turns, but less traffic and the roads are in better condition. I take a different route coming back because it is easier to get on the freeway back than it is going. Both ways were good, and it is a different scenery to get used to. But the end is the same. Winding road and work.
I arrived and the job was set up and ready to go so...Jeff and I spent the whole day running the job. 800+ shirts, but due to the flash time it went rather slow. Still. The shirts look great and it was all lovely and at the end the boss was complimentary towards my good work. Yay boss!
Started The Wise Man's Fear, which is 42 hours long! Any given Discworld audiobook is 6-8. It's a good story though, so I'm looking forward to it. Well the first book was very good (The Name of the Wind) so this should be also good. Mmm hmm.
I live within 10 minutes walking distance of Trader Joe's! Driving is a bit longer because walking I can take a shortcut. Yay! I did a TJ's trip. Jeff made some artichokes, which I had some of. I unpacked a bit further. I'm getting close! Some things are just going to end up stored in the trunk of my car. That damn futon.

doughnuts, mattresses, many trips, and a new home
Welp. I am writing to you from my new desk set up in my new room in my new house, which I share with Jeff (a different Jeff from my coworker), Tara, and Justen. Adjust your sets accordingly.
Set my alarm and got up early. Had some toast and Emergen-C and then packed up my car. Took the first load over. Did a Target run and got some cash back to pay Jeff for his impending help (covered gas and a tip). I just brought in the boxes. I didn't bother with unpacking, as I had those shelving units to bring in, and things would unpack into there. I want to get stuff unpacked, and then I can reorganize.
Called Jeff to tell him he could come on over and help me move the mattress. I stopped by Farrel's and bought a dozen doughnuts (only $8!). Odd to see Jeff not wearing work clothes. Granted he had on just slightly nicer short pants and sunglasses. But you get so used to seeing people a certain way. I guess I must have looked odd in my full jeans and not white tee? Anyway. Hauled in the mattress, put down a sheet, put my bike on top of that. The sheet got dirty but only with dirt, not grease. It was a quick trip. Just got the mattress and bike in and that was that. I could handle the rest on my own, so off he went.
It took two more trips after that. One for shelving and misc stuff. Another for my table and chair. It was dark when I got the last haul in. All my stuff has felt under it to protect the hard wood floors. I had a set of "sliders" and opted to put them on the stacked shelves, which was good because those were the heaviest and got scooted around a bit.
Jeff. Housemate Jeff. Made dinner and shared with me and Jan (Jan is Jeff's friend, not short for Janet, who I'll miss). Then I watched Breaking Bad.
I unpacked a bit more, but I don't feel like doing it all tonight. Plus it is Sunday and I don't want to thump too much. Have to get used to the new noise levels of this place. It seems pretty quiet, but I am sharing a wall now so it might also carry.
Here, have some photos:

back and forth & to and fro
Friday:
"Coat or clean?" "Coat." So I did that. And I cleaned. Caught. Did bunches of stuff. Didn't burn any screens, but now we have plenty of screens to burn. Just, like, no 123s. Jeff is going to help me move my mattress on Sunday, so now I have to hit the moving game pretty hard. Well. Hardish.
I took a load over in the evening. My plastic drawers. My grey metal shelf which was a bitch to navigate in and out of my car. All the dust I'm kicking up is really making me sneeze. I should really dust.
Saturday:
Slept in. Slept way way in. It was raining and I didn't want to get out of my warm, warm bed. But I did. Eventually I got around to taking over some more things. Stacking little plastic tubs is really coming in handy. Oh! I also swung by Target and even though I tried my darndest, I could not locate a damn stepping stool! I want one due to how short I am, but I couldn't locate one. I asked but the dude wasn't that helpful.
I saw the movie Prisoners, which was REALLY good. A bit slow to start but the last 45 minutes were just tense and woah.
Back at Bixby, I packed up more stuff. Now it's almost everything. I think I'll try to get my room cleared out, then I'll call Jeff and we'll move my mattress and bike. Then I'll pack up my bathroom stuff and food. It'll be a busy day. Then a new section of my Santa Cruz life starts.
Sigh.

thank Douglas it's Thursday
Whoo! Moved over some more stuff! Just another box of books, some knick knacks, and my drawing table. The table fits under my bed, so that is good. I need to spend some time going through my stuff, because the clutter is mounting.
And a print I ordered had arrived at my new house! Yay! Now I need to frame it (it fits a standard size frame which is efficient for framing).
Work was slightly less hectic. Burning and coating and cleaning and weeding and reclaiming and it was very warm. More Peter Wimsey, who is awesome of course.
At home I stuffed some things into a box and then I went to the new place.
I got my other gift exchange sent off this morning. Whoo that is done!

take it down and put it up
Moved over my red shelf, most of my closet clothes and shirts, and some knick knacks. Could have moved more but ehh...bit by bit. May not do a move tomorrow as I have stuff to do. And I should spend some time organizing the clutter I have right now, because my room is a bit of a torn apart mess and I need to work on sorting what I have and reducing the "laying about" things.
Did some catching, did some cleaning, did some burning, did some taping. Finished Reaper Man. Discworld books are so quick to listen to.
Started sketching something for my other gift exchange. Need to get these sent out by the end of the week!
Got a busy week ahead, but it's all good.
